Challenge. English is not my first
language, so be gentle.

Adoption. The scariest word for a mother. They have
talked about it just before he disappeared. He just
told her:

"We must have a plan. If William is in danger and you
can't assure his safety you have to do it"

She couldn't answer to that. Here they were, new
parents and already discussing the possibility that
their baby boy was in danger. He was right, she knew
it. She raised her eyes and saw the unshed tears in
his hazel orbs.

And now, she had to decide what was best for their
son and Mulder wasn't here. She was all alone and she
didn't want to let go of their son, the symbol of
their love. But she had to protect him from harm so
she took the paperwork and started to fill the
adoption papers.

She felt dead inside. This was worse than anything
but she was used to sacrifice. And it was the last
one : she had nothing left to lose.
