I'll Keep Her by Julie Cantrell

She has a pretty complexion.

Just a brief observation as I watched my new partner
conduct an autopsy on the creature from Ray Soames's
grave.

As I snapped away pictures and theories, I found myself
making other observations.

Her hands are small, almost childlike, but very sturdy
in their task. Through her bright, blue eyes I can see
her mind working furiously to comprehend the things that
I'm saying, things that I'm sure she finds absurd. And
her beautiful little mouth and the full lips that pout
so prettily when I say such absurdities.

I think I'll keep her.
