Author's Note: I am only 16 years old, and this is just a humble first attempt at fanfic. I know its cheesy and everything, but you Shippers out there should get a kick out of it. Well...Here goes! Enjoy! And the Moon Smiled (1/1) By ChristinaKC Throughout the five years Mulder and I have been together, we have laughed, cried, and seen things that have tested our knowledge on every aspect of life. During our time together, we have learned to trust each other; he keeps my dreams alive while I keep him somewhat down to earth. And some time during these five years that we have been together, I fell in love with him. I have to admit, I would not have given Mulder a second look before the X-files, but now... Mulder is everything a woman wants in a man. His rugged features and tall, muscular build make him a wonderfully gorgeous creature to look at. His deep, sensitive eyes make your heart melt with every glance. His soft, perfect lips make you want to tease them with your own. I have never known a man as pure and big-hearted as Mulder. He is smart, sensitive, caring, giving, and a wonderfully honest human being. His undying quest for the truth amazes me. He is more driven and determined than any person I have ever known. This remarkable human being is my partner, my confidante, my friend, my savior, my life. I thank God every night for blessing me with this overwhelmingly wonderful man in my life. ** ~~~ ** This marks the fifth year in which Scully and I have been working together. In my life, things have happened that have tested my belief and my trust of other people. There is no other person I trust more than Scully. Our relationship has grown into something any couple, married or unmarried, would envy. I need Scully in my life more than anything; I sleep, breathe, and live for her. I love Scully...I love her so much it scares me. Scully is every man's fantasy and every woman's envy. Her slender, petite, willowy frame and delicate figure make you aware of the man you are with every move she makes. Her beautiful face and porcelain skin are enchanting to look at. Her eyes are mesmerizing, mysterious, and the deepest pools of blue that I have ever seen; and her full, pouty lips make you want to plant endless kisses on them. Scully is everything I need and want in a woman. She is intelligent, caring, strong-willed, supportive, patient, and comforting; all of which make me love her all the more. She supports me in my quest for truth, but at the same time, is very skeptical of it. She believes in me and the truth, but needs the proof in order to make others believe as well. Scully completes me. I need her more than anything, and I can't imagine my life without her. I owe her everything, and she owes me nothing. She has saved me in every way known to man. I am thankful for every day that she is with me. This is the enigmatic Dr. Scully, my partner, my friend, my reason for living...my everything. ** ~~~ ** Dana Scully was fighting the urge to go completely insane from the sight of the paperwork that covered her desk, when she saw Mulder approach her. "Hey Scully," Mulder greeted casually, as he approached her desk. "Got any plans for tonight?" "No...Why do you ask?" "I have two tickets for the Governor's Ball tonight and I was wondering if you would like to join me." "Well, I don't know, Mulder, I'm a little tired," Scully teased. "Besides, I have nothing to wear." "I have taken care of that already," Mulder grinned, as he produced a large box from who knows where. "I knew it was short notice, so I got you a dress." I open the box, uneasy about its contents. As I fold back the tissue paper, I gasp, as I lift the dress out of the box. It was a floor-length gown that poofed out a little at the waist and flowed gracefully to the floor. It was the most beautiful shade of blue I have ever seen. It was simple, yet elegant, and extremely romantic. "Mulder, it-it's beautiful! I-" "I got you matching shoes too," Mulder said, as he dangled a pair of strappy, high-heeled shoes in front of me. "I have an uncanny sense of fashion, don't I...?" "Yes, yes, you do, Mulder. It's all perfect," I agree, as I quickly kiss him on the cheek. "Thank you so much. I guess I'll see you tonight." "I'll pick you up at a quarter to seven." "I'll be ready." ** ~~~ ** "I wonder how Mulder knew what size I was?" I wondered, as I slipped on the dress. It fit perfectly. Its spaghetti straps rested comfortably on my shoulders, and the subtle dip of the bodice gave me a more curvaceous look than I was used to. I liked it a lot. ** ~~~ ** Mulder took another quick glance in the rearview mirror before getting out of his car. He straightened his coat and bow tie before entering the building. His pulse quickened as he knocked on Scully's door and cleared his throat. When she opened the door, he was left completely speechless. She looked absolutely gorgeous. Her hair was piled on top of her head and she was wearing more makeup than usual. And the dress...she was perfect. "I have to grab my coat before we leave. Why don't you come in and make yourself comfortable?" I admired the low dip in the back of the dress as she headed towards her room. The heavenly scent of her perfume wafted to where I was standing. She was absolutely breath-taking. "Okay. Let's go," she says as she returns with a coat draped over her shoulders. ** ~~~ ** The room was brightly lit and exquisitely decorated. People admired the couple as they were escorted to their table. They looked good and they knew it. As they sat down, their admirers went back to their endless chatter and bustle. "You look great, Mulder," Scully admired. He really did look handsome tonight. He wore a nicely fitted tuxedo and his hair was combed perfectly into place. His cologne smelled delicious...That and the scent of his after shave was driving her crazy. "Thanks. You don't look so bad yourself, Scully." The dip of her dress revealed more of Scully than usual, and Mulder liked it. A lot. She really did look beautiful tonight. The sound of Celine Dion's "To Love You More" playing in the background gave him an idea. "Perfect time to make a move," Mulder thought. "Wanna dance?" Mulder asked, as he held a hand out to his partner. "Let's do it." Scully followed him as he led her out onto the dance floor. It felt good to be in his arms. Everything was so right. Nothing could ruin this moment...Nothing. The rest of the night was filled with dancing, laughter, and music. As the ball began to wind down, Mulder and Scully found themselves wanting to get out of there, as quickly as possible. They said their good-byes and made their way to the car. When in the car, they became suddenly very aware of each other. "Mulder-" "Don't say anything, Scully. Just go with it." "I can't-we can't...The rules..." "Forget the rules, Scully. I know you want this as much as I do." "Believe me, Mulder, I want this more than anything, but-" "If you want this, just let it happen, and let's just forget the rules for one night in our lives." "I love you, Mulder." "I love you too, Scully. Now shut up and kiss me already." With that, their lips touched. Mulder explored her mouth slowly and softly. Their kisses were passionate and loving as their tongues met, entwined, and explored. After what seemed like hours, they finally pulled back. "Let's go home, Mulder." "Your place or mine?" "I have a bed." "Your place it is." ** ~~~ ** They arrived at Scully's building in the record time of five minutes. Not bad, considering it usually took Scully twenty minutes to get from work to home on an average day. Mulder nibbled lightly on Scully's ear as she fumbled with the lock on her door. When she finally managed to open the door, they found themselves in the room faster than it took for them to open the door. They fell into each other's arms and their light kisses from earlier were echoed with even more steamy and passionate ones. The clothes they were wearing were quickly but carefully stripped off until there were no more barriers between their bodies. Mulder carried Scully to her bed and they made sweet and tender love. ** ~~~ ** Scully awoke and smiled as she felt Mulder pull her closer to him. She maneuvered with expert ease to free the arm from underneath her that had long since fallen asleep. She felt Mulder stir and then felt his soft lips on her shoulder. "What are you doing?" Mulder murmured against her skin. "What are you thinking about?" "You and I...and how beautiful the moon looks tonight," Scully answered softly, as she rose to walk to the window. "Come look, Mulder. It's beautiful." Mulder joined Scully at the window, and he held her close while they stared in awe at the beautiful sky. "You know, when I was younger, I used to lie on the ground and stare at the moon for hours. I imagined what it would be like to dance with the man of my dreams under the light of the moon. I always pictured the man in the moon watching us and smiling down on us. Did you ever do that, Mulder?" Scully asked, as Mulder placed light kisses along her neck. "Did you ever picture yourself holding the love of your life and dancing in the moonlight?" "Every night, Scully," Mulder murmured. "I never imagined that I would be holding someone as perfect as you. I dreamed about meeting someone like you, but I had given up all hope of that ever happening in college. And then you came along, and I knew from the day we met that you were the one. And now, as I hold you in my arms, I know that it's right. I don't know what I would do without you in my life." "Mulder, I love you so much. You mean everything to me. You made me believe. Your search for the truth has inspired me and continues to do so every day. You were there for me through the cancer; you have always been there for me, and I couldn't have asked for a better partner than you." As Scully finished confessing her love for Mulder, he pulled her close and they danced in the moonlight. They held each other, picturing their future together. As they fell asleep in each others arms, the man in the moon looked down at them and smiled. The End
