At the Airport, a little funny X-Files, copyright 1996 Sidra M. S.
Vitale. Do not fold, spindle or mutilate without my permission.
Caveat: I didn't invent 'em, I just dream about 'em, so thanks CC,
10/13, GA, DD, for making my REM sleep a wee bit more exciting.

At the Airport, by Sidra Vitale

They were at Long Beach Airport, waiting in line at Gate 7 to
check in. Even Scully only had carry-on baggage. It had been a quick
trip to California, but the length of stay wasn't important. What
mattered was the FBI had gotten their man. One more time, justice had
prevailed, with more than a little help from Mulder's sharp profile and
Scully's calm autopsy skills.

        Behind them:

        "So, like, was it rad?"
"Like, no way, it was like, he was all, 'oh, sure', and I was
all, 'uh, really, excuse me!'"
"Oh, totally! Like, how could he say that?!"
"Then, he's all, 'I'm so sure, Brenda.' So I'm all, 'uh, no,
*really*!'"
        "Omiga-awd!"
"So, I'm all, 'get out', and he's all, 'gladly.' Like, ga-awd!"
        "Ga-awd! How *could* he?!"

Scully moved toward her partner and he leaned down to hear her
murmur, "Mulder, I did not understand a single thing those girls behind
us just said. There was not a noun to be found with 5 feet of them!"
Mulder put his hand on his partner's shoulder in a gesture of
mock reassurance, and said, "Just remember, they're probably more afraid
of you than you are of them."
He paused. "You know more parts of speech than they do.
Threaten them with a gerund or something."
Scully rolled her eyes with a look of long-suffering. "Oh, I'm
so sure!"
