The Beatles Files: "A Hard Day's Night" by Christina Shuy cshuy@netcom.com "Where to, sir?" "Alexandria." The reply was half-yawned. Special Agent Mulder sat in the back seat of the taxi he had called to get him from the airport back to his apartment. "It's been a hard day's night, and I been working like a dog It's been a hard day's night, I should be sleeping like a log But when I get home to you I'll find the things that you do Will make me feel all right" The thought occured to him that there was some place he'd rather be rather than alone at his apartment. "Take me to Georgetown..." Mulder said, telling the driver to change the destination he had originally intended for the new one. It was only then that he realised what the song playing softly on the radio in the taxi had actually turned out to be. That brought a tired grin to his face. "You know I work all day to get you money to buy you things And it's worth it just to hear you say You're going to give me everything So why on earth should I moan, 'cause when I get you alone You know I feel ok" As he thought about the person he was headed for, he smiled. When they were alone, he *did* feel ok. Actually, he felt MORE than just 'okay'. He felt wonderful when he was with her. "When I'm home everything seems to be right When I'm home feeling you holding me tight, tight" It had been too long since he had held her and she had held him. Being sent away on a case had certain disadvantages, especially when he had been ordered to do so even while Scully had been ordered to stay right where she was. "Owww! So why on earth should I moan, 'cause when I get you alone You know I feel ok You know I feel all right You know I feel all right" "Sir? We've arrived." The taxi driver's voice broke through his reverie and he smiled as he noticied where they'd arrived at. Grinning as he got out of the car and paid the man, Mulder took his few pieces of baggage and headed up to the front door of the apartment he had in mind. Yawning, he rang the doorbell. "Mulder?" "Hey, Scully. Did I wake you?" "Actually, no. I couldn't sleep." "Well, I just wanted to let you know I'm back in town. Maybe I should go home now." Dana Scully grinned at her partner. There was a reason she couldn't sleep, only she hadn't told *him* yet. "No, Mulder, come right on in." Mulder smiled tiredly again. It had been a hard day's night for him, but as he was with Scully again, it made him feel all right. -End- Author's Note: Yes, this IS the sequel to "I'm So Tired" "The Truth is Out There.
