Rating: G, Story, Series, Humour(I hope) Summary: Ever get a song stuck in your head when you're tired? Spoilers: none here The Beatles Files: "I'm So Tired" by Christina Shuy cshuy@netcom.com Fox William Mulder walked off the plane and sighed. He had been on the road *far* too long, and there were just some things he wanted to do... not the least of which was sleep. I'm so tired, I haven't slept a wink I'm so tired, my mind is on the blink I wonder should I get up and fix myself a drink No,no,no. As so happened when he got totally wiped, a song was stuck in his head. He would have smirked at the appropriateness of the song except for one thing... he was even too tired to smirk. I'm so tired I don't know what to do I'm so tired my mind is set on you I wonder should I call you but I know what you'd do He trudged his way through the terminal, picking up his bags at the baggage claim and making certain everything was as it should be. It was a testiment as to just how tired he was that he hadn't stood in the baggage claim area yawning to the point of tearing up. Very simply, he was just too tired to do even that. He wondered briefly if he should call his partner, then sighed as he remembered exactly what time it was. Most folks would concider it either too early or too late. And it was. You'd say I'm putting you on But it's no joke, it's doing me harm You know I can't sleep, I can't stop my brain You know it's three weeks, I'm going insane You know I'd give you everything I've got for a little peace of mind It *had* been 3 weeks. He had been ordered to go work for VCS on a serial killer while Scully was on an enforced vacation for two weeks, much like he had been sent on a forced vacation several years ago. The case he had been sent on had stretched into three weeks, one week longer than Scully's vacation had turned out to be, meaning she was alone in the basement office... which also left her with the paperwork from their last few cases, something he wasn't particularly comfortable with doing. He and Scully *were* equals, after all, despite what the bureau hierarchy may have thought. And, besides, the last case they'd been sent on *had* been rather amusing. I'm so tired, I'm feeling so upset Although I'm so tired I'll have another cigarette And curse Sir Walter Raleigh He was such a stupid git. I'm soooo tired... As Mulder remembered one of the last few lines of the song which had firmly stuck itself in his head, he started to laugh to himself. He used to smoke but was glad to get rid of that one habit. And as for Sir Walter Raleigh, his mind supplied the information on said historical figure and Mulder was forced to agree with the lines of the song. Sir Walter Raleigh *was* a stupid git. He grinned again and shook his head, heading out of the airport. Shaking the cobwebs from his mind, he took a breath of outside air and coughed. Three weeks certainly wasn't enough for DC to have changed much, especially air pollution wise. Then again, he *had* been sent out into Small Town America for three weeks, so he'd apparently gotten used to the cleaner air. Finally, he made his way out onto the curb and over to the taxi which was availible. As he settled on the back seat cushions, he decided he was glad to be home because he was going to go back to his place and crash... for a week. He was SO very tired. -End- "The Truth is Out There.
