Nothing, Walter. Absolutely nothing. That's what has gotten you here. You never believed in anything. Not the way your agents did. Where were you when Mulder or Scully was out risking their lives for a cause? Sitting in your office, too damn afraid of losing your job to help them, that's where. A true American patriot, you were. A big framed flag and a picture of the current president, despite his involvement in the century's stupidest scandals. Oh, when you started out, you never believed your government could be so sordid, so corrupt. And then you met him. A man who went from believing in something so passionately he'd allow himself or others to die for it, to having faith in nothing or no one. You became the same. And now, sinking into this blackness, it's too damn late to make your mark on the world. Too late to believe again.
