seen Mulder and Scully kiss yet. Most of all to my

The Best Part Of A Hurricane-------------------- by

We were in my apartment on a sunny Sunday afternoon,
specifically sitting on my couch. We had just finished
sipping the last few drops of coffee I had prepared,
well, he still had a few sips to go I had already
finished my daily dose.

I don't know why I drank my coffee so fast; I don't
know why it tasted so good either, maybe, I thought,
it is not the liquid in it's essence or the way it was
prepared, maybe it was the company.

Anyways, I don't remember having this particular kind
of conversation with him before. Ok, yes, fine, I
have; but that doesn't count, that wasn't Mulder, it
was some alien guy that just wanted to... *ahem*... long
story.

"...So then, Samantha and I used to go play baseball in
the nearby fields." He said after drinking some more
of his coffee "We used to part after lunch, and we
would take some peanut butter sandwiches our mom had
prepared; then we would race each other to our
preferred place, I always let her win, that would get
her in the spirit for a good ball game."

I smile at him and he smiles back. Oh, boy! He's got a
great smile; it mesmerizes me every time I see it... No!
Stop doing that Dana, pay attention to what he's
saying!

"... And at the end, we returned home before dark with
fireflies lighting our way."
"That must have been beautiful, playing in the fields
and everything." 

Did I sound stupid or what?

"But enough about me, now you tell me about you. I
want to know what the enigmatic Dr. Scully's childhood
was like."

Do I have to? Why can't I keep listening to his sweet
voice?

Ok, now I have to dig out some memory from inside my
brain, and quick! I don't want him to think I was
'idiotized' by his charming self. 

Bottom line, I was 'idiotized' by his charming self.

"Well, I remember we moved a lot during the first
years of my childhood, because of my father's work. So
my brothers and my sister became my closest friends."

This is the time I choose to make some eye contact
with him, to see if he's is buying my story.
 
"We used to go out to the yard and play some tag." I
continued "My brothers played some baseball too, while
Melissa and I jumped the rope. I never really liked
playing with dolls; my mom used to buy them for me but
I gave them all to Missy. I was more of a tomboy at
that age. I liked the rope though, I once got to jump
over 500 times."

His face lights up with a grin, with his upper lip
curling up in that sexy way of his.

"I think the best part of jumping the rope was being
able to beat Missy every the time. I just loved seeing
her defeated face, she would go red with anger, and I
used to make fun of her."
"So you were the 'jumping rope queen'."
"Yes, something like that. Always beating ol'
Melissa."

Bringing Missy up made me remember that I will not be
able to share with her anymore, and that made me sad.
Mulder seemed to notice this because he immediately
stopped smiling and brought his hand to meet my face.

That took me by surprise. I can't believe this is
happening! I cant help but closing my eyes to his
touch. He is so soft with his hands, and so
considered. He sends chills down my back. But he's
still my best friend and that makes me feel closer to
him.

I open my eyes again and I have the strange sensation
that he is closer to me, not only emotionally but also
physically. Before he was all the way over there and
now he is all the way over here, why? What's he up to
this time?

Oh my God, he *is* getting closer! What do I do now?
Why is he doing this?

And why the hell is everything going so slow?!! 

Is he going to kiss me? I mean, for real, or is he
just going to kiss my forehead as he usually does?
Well, for starters he hasn't let go of my face; he is
not staring at my eyes anymore, he is now staring at
my lips which I just came to realize are parted and
may have been like that for a long time. Damnit! He is
going to kiss me for real!

He is less than 2 inches away now. If I stay still
maybe he will think I don't want to go on with this;
if I move back I may hurt his feelings, and that's not
the idea at all; if I kiss him now and here I don't
know what kind of repercussions it may bring in the
future.

Why does he have to stir my emotions in such a bizarre
way?

Why does he have to pull them from way down there and
let them out to the light?

God! If only I could freeze time and decide what to
do... I want to keep things the way they are, this is
good, I like the way our relationship is right now.
Sitting in my couch and drinking very strong coffee is
the best thing... But on the other hand, who could
resist sharing at least one breath exhaling from his
sweet and tender lips?

Ok, Dana, think! Yes or no. Now or never. It's all up
to you.

Why does love have to be so difficult?!

And that was it; that was the way Fox William Mulder
finally managed to kiss me. 

Thinking that maybe love was in the middle of all of
this made me realize there was absolutely nothing to
fear, and I was right; I leaned in and let everything
take its natural course.

How could I even dare to think that sharing something
so precious with him would be at all bad? 

Silly me.

He takes my hand and entwines his fingers with mine
and tells me 'I love you'; and then he leans over once
more and kisses me again.

And now you know, the best part of a hurricane is the
calmness you feel inside when it's all over.
