If you don't know the old routine, all I have to say is : Hello ?? Have you been under a rock ?? Okay, this is a story I made up after watching a "Secrets of The X-Files thing on TV one night and I saw one part where Scully accidentally shot Mulder...so I decided hey, let's write about it ! *lol* I am a brand new X-Files fan, so if I am wrong on things *the clothes*, "shoot" me !! Anyways....thanks to my big sis Jane !!! You're the best !!! Love ya sis and hey*hey,hey,hey* Love Is The Right Place !! Hiya to Megan,Angie,and Crystal *Wilma, Wilma* !!! And this is also for my Rowdy Twin Jason and my sisters Heather and Denise(the Guard Twins) And guys, watch out for those high heels and that green and purple hair dye, okay !!! Just in case though, "Blink Of An Eye" was produced by Ron Chancey and Ed Seay and the song was written by Josh Leo and Rick Bowles !!! :) Thanks !! *Blink Of An Eye* She pulled the trigger. She watched the bullet fly through the air. Suddenly,it ricocheted off of Krycek and struck Mulder. " Mulder !! " Scully screamed. She dropped the gun. Krycek paused for a moment,wondering if he should do something. He thought better of it and went racing off. Scully knelt beside her partner and felt for a pulse. When she finally found one, it was very weak. " Oh lord !! " Scully whispered. Tucking a loose strand of red hair behind her ear, she pushed aside Mulder's familiar black trench coat. His blue and white plaid shirt was staring her in the face. Scully blinked a few times, as if to clear her mind. *This isn't happening* she thought. She began to unbutton Mulder's shirt so she could look at the wound. But as she unbuttoned the first button, she stopped. * Do it, Dana...* she said to herself *You have to save him, no matter what your feelings are !! * Scully took a deep breath and pulled the now unbuttoned shirt aside to reveal the bullet would. " Oh lord !! " she screamed. " Mulder !!" She looked down again, praying she hadn't seen what she thought she had just seen. Unfortunately,she had. Scully began to cry softly as she pulled a white handkerchief out of her pocket and pressed it against the wound. The bullet hadn't hit Mulder in the shoulder like she had thought. It had hit him in the chest. As she held her hand against his chest for pressure, Scully fumbled in her coat pocket for her cell phone. When she finally got ahold of it, she called 911 and explained the situation. They were sending and ambulance immediately. Scully checked Mulder's pulse again and it was getting weaker. His hazel eyes were closed. Scully picked up his hand and said softly: " Don't give up yet, Mulder !! Keep fighting....for me !! " His eyelids fluttered open and shut. Just then, the ambulance pulled up. They loaded him in. " Ma'am....are you coming ?? " a voice asked. Scully was about to say no, but on impulse she jumped in behind them. On the way to the hospital, he monitor that was attached to Mulder began beeping loudly. " He's in cardiac arrest !! " a young EMT whose nametag read Janie yelled. " No !! " Scully whispered." Hang on, Mulder !! Hang on !! " The EMT's scrambled around, trying to get Mulder back. They finally did and everyone, including Scully, breathed a sigh of relief. The other two EMT's, named Heather and Denise, looked at Scully sympathetically. " Are you his wife ?? " Heather asked. " No.." Scully swallowed. " We're FBI agents.....he's my partner !! " " Oh...well, he's lucky to be alive !!!! " Denise said. "What exactly happened ?? " " I shot him !! " Scully said in a small voice. " But not on purpose....right ?? " Heather asked, bending over Mulder. " No !! Never !! " Dana Scully blinked. " I was trying to catch another guy and it.....it.." She began to break down. " Miss....um....you don't have to go on !! We understand !!" Heather said. Scully looked at her and said: " My name is Dana.....Dana Scully !!" She then buried her face in her hands and sobbed. " Mulder...oh lord...why did...how could....oh ...!!" she cried. Heather and Denise patted her shoulder comfortingly and went on attending to Mulder. Soon they reached the hospital. They unloaded Mulder and hurried him to the ER. Scully waited (or tried ) to wait in the waiting room, but she ended up pacing the room for 2 hours glancing at a late night talk show on the TV every so often. Soon, a voice behind her said: " Dana Scully ??" She looked up. Standing in the doorway was a young, dark blonde haired, blue eyed doctor. She stood up from the chair she was sitting in and went to him. " Yes ?? " Scully said. " I'm Dr. Jason Anderson, the cardiologist who is attending to Mr. Mulder, " he said. She shook his hand. " Well ?? " Scully asked. The young doctor looked at Scully and asked: " Would you come with me, please ?? " Scully followed him into a room, where Dr. Anderson showed her Mulder's X-rays. Scully gasped at what she saw. She saw the bullet very very close to Mulder's heart. Dr. Anderson glanced at her in alarm and asked: " Miss Scully, are you okay ?? " She nodded, but a wave of dizziness came over her and she crumpled to the ground. When she awoke, the doctor was kneeling next to her, holding out a cup of water. She took it and drank gratefully. She thanked him. " Is...is...will...he be all right ?? Can you save him ?? " Scully asked. " Well, Miss Scully, " Dr. Anderson began. " It is a high risk operation, to get that bullet out without hurting his heart, but I honestly believe I can save him !! " " Really ?? " Scully asked. Then she thought to herself: * Of course he can save Fox...I mean..Mulder !! Oh lord !! I just called him Fox !! What was I thinking ?? * " Yes , " the doctor said sincerely, answering her first question. They spoke for a few minutes more and then Scully went back to the waiting room. She had called her mother, came immediately. " Oh, Mom !! I'm so afraid I'm going to lose him !! " she cried out sadly. Margaret Scully looked at her daughter in surprise. " Dana Katherine Scully !! Are you telling me that you have feelings for Fox ?? " she asked. Margaret Scully was the only person besides his own mother that Mulder let call him Fox. " Yes.....no.....oh I don't know, Mom !! I just don't know anymore !! " Scully admitted. Mrs. Scully hugged her daughter tightly and together they waited for Mulder to come out of the surgery. After 6 hours of waiting, pacing,and nail biting, Dr. Anderson came into the room. " Miss Scully ?? " he said. Dana Scully stood up and crossed the room to him. " Yes !! Um..how...how.." she stammered nervously. The young doctor smiled at her and said, choosing his words carefully: " Mr. Mulder's surgery was a success...." " Oh thank goodness !! " Mrs. Scully said, smiling. " But....." Dana asked, searching the doctor's face. " But he lost a lot of blood from the wound, " Dr. Anderson continued."And he's very,very weak !! The operation took a lot out of him !! " " When can I see him ?? " Dana said quickly. " Actually, Miss Scully, you can go and see him right now if you want !! He's back in his room now !! He was in the recovery room about an hour ago, though !!! " Dr. Anderson told her. " Thank you Doctor !! Oh, and since you'll probably be seeing me around here often, please, call me Dana !! " Dana smiled. " Okay, Dana !! And please, call me Jason !! " the doctor said. " Okay !! " Dana smiled. " He's in room 220 !! Oh, but Dana....don't be alarmed when you see him !! He looks pretty bad, okay !! " Jason told her. " Thanks, but I'm always alarmed when I see him !! " Dad said with and evil smile. Her old attitude had returned and she left the waiting room. Dana went up two floors and stepped into room 220. As she got closer, Dan gasped. Wires were attached all over Mulder's body and machines were beeping loudly. She glanced at his face. His hazel eyes were closed and his hair was messy and spread across his forehead. She ignored the noises going on all around her and she pulled up a chair. It was made of grey-blue molded plastic and it was very hard. But it didn't bother her. She looked at Mulder. " Oh lord, Mulder !! I'm so sorry !! I...you..you know I didn't mean to hurt you !! Oh gosh !! " she began to speak. " Fox....yes..I am calling you Fox !! I know you hate it, but I am calling you it anyways, so get over it !! Fox...oh Fox..please, please forgive me !! " *Why is this so hard ?? I've always been able to talk to him !! Why can't I now ?? * Dana asked herself. She twisted a Kleenex in her hands. " Oh Fox....this is so hard for me to see you like this !! I keep wondering what it would be like not having you here with me..but I stop myself !! I can hardly bear sitting here..looking at the man who has always protected me and...oh gosh !! " Dana broke down sobbing. " And now you're lying there....fighting for your life !! Why did this happen ?? Why.oh why ?? Why didn't I tell anyone my own fears.....not about me being hurt, but about you being hurt !! If only someone could have protected you !! Then this would have never happened !!! But you always have to take charge !! Fox Mulder, you are so stubborn !! But I....I..." *Do it, Dana !! Tell him how you feel !! * she scolded herself. " But I love you !! Fox..I love you !! I always have...always !! You are always there, you're smart,sensitive,well, sometimes...you're funny and always so protective of me !! Now I understand !! I hope....I wish you loved me too !! " As Dana spoke these loving words , tears were rolling down her cheeks. She laid her head on the edge of the bed. Suddenly, she felt a hand on her shoulder. It was Dr. Anderson. " Dana, you should go home and get some rest !! " he said quietly. " No !! I can't just leave him by himself !! He'll get frantic if he's alone !! Don't make me go !! Please !!! " she babbled on. As the young cardiologist looked at Dana. Her blue eyes were tearfilled and her cheeks were tearstreaked. She was trembling and crying at the same time. As the doctor put an arm around her shoulders reassuringly, Mrs. Scully came in the room. She put her arms around her daughter and hugged her tightly. " He's going to be fine !! I know he'll be fine !! But I can see you really don't want to leave him, so I'll tell you what," Dr. Anderson said. " We'll pull this couch out and you can sleep in here, okay !! " Dana nodded. " Thank you, Doctor !! Thank you so much for being so kind and reassuring !! " she said, looking at her hands. Dr. Anderson smiled and replied: " That's what I'm here for !! " They smiled at each other and she settled herself on the couch after telling her mother to go home. Mrs. Scully kissed her daughter, then Fox, and left the hospital, with Dr. Anderson following her. Dana laid back against the couch cushions and fell asleep. While she slept, Mulder was slowly waking up. But his mind was still in a deep sleep for the time being. He was having a dream. He saw himself at age 12, sitting in the Mulder home, with his 8 year old sister Samantha, playing a board game and arguing over what to watch on TV. Suddenly, as he looked down and moved his game piece, he heard a voice scream: " Fox !!!!! " He looked up just as his sister was being taken through the window. " Sam !!!! " he cried. He ran to the window and tried to grab her, but she slipped away before he could grasp ahold of her. " Sam !! " he cried out again. " Samantha !! " Dana awoke, suddenly aware that he was crying out. She jumped up and walked to Mulder's bedside. Taking his hand, she said: " Fox....Mulder !! Wake up !! You're having a nightmare !! His hazel eyes fluttered open and he gasped. His eyes were looking straight at Dana, but his vision was so blurred that he whispered: " Sam !! Sam..you've come back !! I knew you would !! I never lost hope that......" " Mulder..." Dana interrupted. " I'm not Samantha !! It's me, Scully !! " " Not Sam ?? " Mulder asked, puzzled. " Not Samantha !!! Dana..it's Dana !! " she replied gently. " Scully...I want my sister !! I want her here !! " he said softly. " I.....I....." " Shhh !! Don't say anymore !! " Dana told him. " No !! Scully...I have to get up !! I have to find Sam !! She's so little and I know she's....she's afraid !!" Mulder whimpered. He sat up. He groaned in pain then. Dana reached out and gently pushed him against the pillow again. " Don't move !! " she said firmly. Mulder laid back. A nurse soon walked in and gave him a shot of painkiller. His eyes began to close. Dana was about to leave to get a cup of coffee when she heard him ask: " Are you leaving me ?? Please don't go, Scully !! " She smiled wryly and shook her head. " No...I'm not leaving !! I'll stay right here next to you, Mulder !! " Dana said. " Scully....Dana...I want you to know something !! " he mumbled. *Oh lord.....he called me Dana !! Did he actually hear what I was saying earlier ??* she asked herself. " What is it, Fox......Mulder ?? " Dana asked. " I heard you talking to me....while I was asleep !! And....." he began. *Oh no !!* she thought. " And I love you too, Dana Scully !! " he told her. " I always have !! " " Oh Fox !! " Dana whispered. " I love you so much !! " He looked up at her lovingly, yet groggily, and beckoned Dana closer to him. She stepped over to him and he kissed her gently. Patting the bed next to him, Dana crawled up and soon found herself being wrapped in Fox Mulder's arms. He hugged her tightly and fell asleep, his cheek resting against her flaming red hair. A week and a half later, Fox Mulder was released from the hospital by Dr. Anderson to Dana's care. They drove to his apartment first, so he could pack up his small apartment and move into Dana's. After they did that, they headed to Dana's apartment and settled Mulder into the guest room. " I guess I can't call this a guest room anymore, huh !! " she commented. " Nope !! Not unless you consider me just a guest !! " Fox replied. Dana shook her head fiercely. " Can I consider you all I've ever wanted in life ??" she asked with a smile. " Now that, I think I can get used to !! " he grinned at her. She slapped his arm laughingly and left the room. That evening, Dana and Fox were sitting on the couch watching TV together. During a commercial, Dana turned to Fox. " Fox...when did you fall in love with me ?? " she asked suddenly. " The first time I ever laid eyes on you walking into my office !!" he smiled.
