Scully was clearly getting annoyed, her patience with her patience wearing dangerously thin. Acting innocent, Mulder stuck out his bottom lip even further, plastering a puppy dog look onto his features. "Mulder, drop it. Giving a little blood isn't going to kill you." He shook his head and walked behind his desk, dropping in his chair with a huff. "We'll go after work," she continued, ignoring his silent protest. "It'll only take a few minutes and it's for a good cause. If you be good I'll even give you a sucker." She grinned at his annoyed face. Scully had come across an ad in the morning paper, earlier in the day. Arriving at the office, she casually notion the idea to Mulder. Sticking to his well known routine for whining, he quickly disapproved, refusing to even consider doing it. So here she stood, trying for the last half-hour to get him to even consider thinking about it. "Mulder, stop pouting!" She chided. 'Maybe reverse psychology will work,' she mused. "Don't tell me you're afraid of giving a little blood." She asked, a smirk written across her face. "No Scully, I'm not afraid, but I can't stand needles. I don't give blood even when I'm sick!" 'Maybe not,' she thought. She glared at him, being greeted with a frustrated Mulder twirling a pencil between two fingers. Scully closed her eyes and sighed. Getting the hint, he relented. "Fine, I'll go. You owe me for this though, Scully." "Good boy," she commented, stifling a giggle. The afternoon went past fairly quickly, both fully engrossed in clearing up a backlog of over-due paperwork. Looking up from her computer, Scully glanced down at her watch, noticing late evening had slipped upon them. Closing her laptop she stood, grabbing her purse along the way. "Come on, Mulder. We need to get going." Sighing, Mulder stood grabbing his coat off the back of his chair, from which it was thrown earlier that morning. At the facility they were greeted by a young employee. He showed them down a hallway which led to a small room. Closing the door, he stated a nurse would be with them shortly. Finally alone, Mulder glared fiercely at Scully. "I cannot believe you talked me into this!" "Oh hype down, Mulder. You're only giving a little blood." Their conversation was abruptly cut short as a nurse with short blonde hair and a sweet smile entered the room. "Which one of you shall go first?" She asked, slapping on a pair of latex gloves. Scully looked at Mulder, rolling up her sleeve in cue that she would go first. The nurse wrapped a piece of latex around the top of Scully's arm, tapping it lightly looking for a vein. Finding one, she inserted the thin needle and watched as the blood flowed smoothly through the transparent tube and into the small glass vile. Applying a small gauze on her, she told Scully to apply pressure to it for a few minutes. "Your turn." The nurse said, grabbing new supplies. Mulder rolled up his sleeve, made a fist and clenched his eyes shut tight. The nurse went through the same procedure with Mulder, tying a piece of latex around his upper arm. Tapping and finding a vein, she grabbed the needle off the tray. He sucked in a deep breath, watching as the nurse inserted the needle slowly into his arm. After a moment he opened his eyes, letting the light adjust to his pupils. Once adjusted he looked down...and went sheet white. "Mulder! Whoa, take deep breaths," Scully said, reaching out and guiding his head down. "I'm fine," he stated, lifting his head and holding the gauze down tightly on his arm. "Just got a little queasy." "Uh huh," Scully replied. The nurse thanked them and told them she appreciated their sincerity in donating the blood. Walking out to the car, Scully pulled out a grape flavored sucker from her coat pocket. Leaning over, she whispered in Mulder's ear, "you were such a good boy." The End!
