Summary: Mulder goes to the Gunmen's place to visit. Mulder's apartment 8:45pm I look at my watch. 8:45pm. Damnit, I need that information! I called the guys three hours ago, and have they called me with any information? No, of course not. I really need that info, Scully will be here in 15 minutes. Guess I should call them. Dang, their line's busy. That's not a good sign, unless Langly has the munchies again. Research food, that's what it is. They're ordering food. Guess I'll have to go over there. Time to call Scully. "Scully, it's me. The boys haven't given me the information yet. I'm going to have to go over there and get it from them personally. I'll call you when I get back." "Mulder, why don't you just call them? They'll at least be able to give you an update, or bring it over." "I tried, the line's busy. It'll be no big deal. I'll just run over there and pick it up. Be back in less than 30 minutes." "Okay, call me when you get back. Bye." "Bye." I hang up my phone as I grab my jacket and my keys. Oops, almost forgot the cell phone. I turn off the lights and lock my door. Gunmen Headquarters 9:10pm I back up from the door after I knock so they can see me in the camera. But no one comes to the door. I can hear Byers inside cheering, but no one else. I knock again. Finally, the door opens. "Mulder! What are you doing here? How nice to see you." Byers' speech is a little slurred, I can only guess it's from the drink in his hand. "Come in and make yourself comfortable. Want something to drink?" I shake my head no as I enter. "Byers, where are Langly and Frohike?" "Oh, they went to run some errands. Come, sit by me." Byers goes and sits on the couch, patting the cushions beside him. I sit, and look at the TV as he begins to cheer again. "Go, Bobby Joe! You can bet Billy Hank anytime!" Byers raises his hand containing his drink in the air and a green liquid splashes onto his hand. "Byers, what are you drinking?" I ask, slowly prying his hand from the bottle. I look, it's NyQuil, half empty. "Byers, are you feeling okay?" "Yup, never been better. Hey Mulder! When did you get here? Did you come to watch the fly fishing championships with us?" Byers looks around for anyone else. "Where did everyone go? It's a party here." "Byers, remember? You just let me in a few minutes ago. No one else is here, you just told me that. Langly and Frohike are running errands. Do you feel alright?" "I let you in? Oh my god, did I lock the door? The guys will kill me if I forgot to lock it. Someone could break in and rob us." "Byers, just stay..." My suggestion is lost as Byers stands up and immediately falls over again. I catch him before he hit the ground. He grabs onto my neck and pulls me close. "Hey Foxy, wanna come play a game with me? It's really fun, called poker. We just need some cards..." The end of his sentence is lost as his knees give out again. This time his arms slip down to my waist and tighten to steady himself. Okay, this is getting weird. I need to get him off of me before he tries something. The last thing I need is to be hit on by Byers. Don't get me wrong, he's a great guy. Let's just say we play different games at night. "Byers, come here. Sit on the couch next to me." I lead him over to the couch and sit down. He collapses next to me and leans his head into my lap. "Foxy, I need a drink." "John, no you don't. Just lay down." I try to slip out before his head crashes onto my lap, but I am too late. Byers passes out before I am able to move a few inches. At that moment, the door opens and in walk Frohike and Langly. "Umm, hi guys. How is your evening going?" I try to look nonchalant as I put my arms on the back of the couch. Langly looks confused and almost angry, while Frohike just looks amused. "I'll take care of him." Langly says, coming over. He shakes Byers' shoulder and wakes him. "John, come on. Let's go to your room." "Hey, cutie. Where have you been all my life?" Byers puts his arms around Langly's neck and is lifted off of my lap. Langly leads Byers back to his bedroom while Frohike tries very hard not to laugh. "Sorry about Byers, he was feeling a little sniffly tonight. We don't usually let him get into the meds by himself. I see he will be feeling much better soon." Frohike picks up the half-empty bottle and smiles. "That's okay, I understand. I've had a few encounters with the stuff myself. I need that stuff I asked you guys to look up for me, do you have it.?" I just want to forget all that just happened with Byers and me. I have no problem with Byers and Langly having a relationship, but I like mine and I don't go for guys. "Yup here it is for you. Anything else, or must you run back to your woman now?" Frohoke's face reveals his mild jealousy at my relationship with Scully. "Nothing else, but are you guys going to be up for our night this weekend?" "Sure are. Friday night, correct?" "Yup, see you then." I unlock their door, turn to wave at Frohike and Langly, sans the Byers attachment now, and close the door behind me. Another wonderful night at the Gunmen's place.
