Savage Garden owns the song. Spoilers: Requiem (rather minor, actually) Keywords: MSR, angst, Skinner POV.... Summary: "Let me be the one you call/ If you jumps I'll break your fall/ Lift you up and fly away with you into the night/ If you need to fall apart/ I can mend a broken heart/ If you need to crash then crash and burn/ You're not alone." ~Savage Garden "Crash and Burn" Author's note: This is part of a series. It's called the Savage Garden Vignette Series (original, isn't it?) That can be found at http://www.geocities.com/epuresimuove/SavageGardenVignetteSeries.html. However, this can be read as a stand alone. Crash and Burn by Invisible Sun Scully has been through more than anyone else, I think. She was abducted by men in a conspiracy 'against the American people' and was used as a test subject. From what I understood, the tests left her unable to have children. She then lost her sister to the men in the project. She's buried a daughter...one she didn't even knew she had. She contracted cancer and almost lost her life if it wasn't for Mulder.... Mulder. He gone now. I lost him. It's my fault. Now he's gone and Scully found out that by some miracle, she's pregnant. And the father isn't here to share when what is suppose to be joy. She's not feeling joy. Oh, I'm sure that it's there in some small degree. But with Mulder missing and the possibility that he might not return... She's angry. I don't blame her. She says, however, that her anger isn't directed toward me...she says it's not my fault....that she doesn't hold me accountable. Her anger, she says, is directed towards herself, Mulder, and Krycek and Marita. She says Krycek and Marita gave Mulder something they knew he wouldn't be able to resist, no matter how hard he tried. They gave him proof. Real tangible proof. She says she blames Mulder for caving in to the evidence that Krycek and Marita handed him. She says she blames herself because she let him go...and she didn't demand that she go with him. I walked in on a what I guess was a private moment for her. She was in Mulder's office. Sitting at his desk. She was crying. I know she was despite her attempts to hide her tears. I wish that sometimes...sometimes she would admit that she needed to talk to someone. That she feels like the world has turned its back on her. In a way, it has. It took almost everything that she held dear to her away. Emily, her sister, Mulder. I want her to know that she can tell me. That I'll listen and comfort her and help her through this. I want her to know that she doesn't have to suffer alone...that she's not alone. I'll help.
