Subject: Dana's Bad Date by Yorgi and Yergi
From: Vanella@aol.com
--------

Disclaimer: Mulder, Scully, Dat bald guy, CSM, and all these other people
ain't ours. If they were, we would be too busy with Mulder to write this .
They are owned by those people in Vancouver (sigh). SO PLEASE DON'T SUE US! !
!
We can hardly afford the phone bill. And, frankly, we blame Chris Carter for
that. If he hadn't created the show, we wouldn't have become obsessed with
it. And we wouldn't need to spend all of our free time on X-Files web sites.
Thank you.

Intro: This is Yorgi. This story is a response to the challenge about
Scully's abusive boyfriend. I wrote it with Yergi. We're not that proud of
it. It didn't really come out the way we wanted, and Scully ended up being a
wimp. We know Scully would have gotten rid of the jerk with out any help, but
we had to put Mulder in there somewhere. And when we compare it to people
like Paula Graves, it's not worthy of being posted. But maybe someone will
read this and think, "I can do better!" Then we can get a *good* story about
Scully's evil boyfriend.
It could have been better if I put some NC-17 stuff in it, but I can't do
that stuff.
So flame us if you must, but please be nice! Any constructive criticism would
be great, but I'm not sure there's much hope. We're sorry! We had to write
it! We have broccoli in our socks!
As Yergi put it: This story sucks
Yorgi doesn't think it was *that* bad.
Oh, and if it sounds like it was written by a 16 yr old, that's because it
was. Be nice.

Summary: Scully/other romace eventually Mulder/Scully UST
Scully's new boyfriend wants her to leave the X-Files, and gets mad when she
doesn't.

Dana's Bad Date
by Yorgi and Yergi

Prolog

Cancerman was sitting in Skinner's office smoking next to the "Thank you for
not smoking" sign. Suddenly, Skinner burst into the room with a fire
extinguisher. He ran over to Cancerman and turned it on full force while
screaming "THANK YOU FOR NOT SMOKING!"

Mulder and Scully's office
September 13, 1997
4:56 pm

Dana Scully stared at the phone, silently willing it to ring. Steve had
promised to call her between 4:30 and 5:00, and she was still waiting. They
had been dating for a couple of weeks now, and Dana really liked him.
Mulder was watching her silently. She kept looking at the phone. "Are you
expecting a phone call, Scully?" he asked.
Dana jumped at the sound of his voice. "No! I, uh, well. . ." the phone rang
and Dana jumped for it. "Hello?"
It was Steve. Dana looked at her watch. "Steve, you're one minute late."
Mulder's eyebrows shot up. Steve? Scully had obviously been expecting the
call. He watched her and listened to her side of the conversation.
"Mmm-hmm. . . No!" Dana was laughing. "Yes! Yes, I'm free tonight. Okay,
what time? Eight? Great. . . Okay. . . Luv ya. . .Bye."
Mulder stared a her ‘luv ya'? This wasn't like Scully. "Hot date tonight?"
he asked, trying to make it sound casual.
Dana looked up. "Uhh. . . Just someone I met. . ." her voice trailed off.
She looked for a window to stare out. Finding none, she became very
interested in her shoes.
"Well, gotta go!" Dana grabbed her stuff, and rushed out of the office.

Mulder stared after her. What was that all about? Scully had never mentioned
a boyfriend. Not that he was jealous or anything. Or was he? He tried to
tell himself that it was ridiculous. She was free to do whatever she wanted.
And it's not like they were dating. He sighed.
	<I wish we were>
Where had that come from? They were only partners and friends . . . right?

Outside Scully's apartment building
in Mulder's car
7:55

Mulder sat in the car waiting. He had tried to come up with a good reason
for being parked outside Scully's apartment building at eight o'clock, but
hadn't been able to come up with anything. Okay! So he was spying on Scully
and her date. He couldn't help it. He just had to know.
Finally, he saw Scully leaving with some guy. He was tall and good looking
with short brown hair.
Scully looked beautiful. She was wearing a short green dress and sparkling
diamond earrings. She was laughing and holding his hand. Mulder watched them
get in Steve's car and leave. Then he swore and banged his head against the
steering wheel.

11:21 pm

Mulder was still parked outside Scully's apartment building. He saw Steve
walk her to the door. His jaw dropped when he saw them in a deep and
passionate kiss. Then Steve went in with her.
This was too much. Mulder slammed his foot on the pedal and drove home.

Mulder and Scully's office
September 14, 1997
9:00 am

Scully entered the office at her usual time. Her eyes looked a little tired,
but there was lots of make-up on them. "Hi, Mulder," she said absently.
Mulder looked horrible. His head hurt and he had a huge hangover. His eyes
were red, he cut himself shaving, and his tie was crooked.
"Mulder, you look like hell," Dana said bluntly.
	"Yeah. . ."
"Did you hit your head?" she asked, concerned.
Mulder couldn't help laughing a little at that. "Yeah, something like that.
. . Just a small hangover."
	Dana stared at him.
"So," he asked nonchalantly, "How was your date?"
Dana looked up in surprise. How did he. . .? Oh, yeah, the phone call.
"Fine." She couldn't help smiling. "How was your night?" Dumb question. It
looked like he had gone out, gotten drunk, and passed out on the couch.
	"Oh. . . You know. . ."
"Yeah." It felt very awkward all of a sudden.
"Paperwork!" Dana said quickly. "I have paperwork." She sat down and
started going through files.
"Yeah. . ." Mulder muttered. He went for some coffee.

Scully sighed. Actually her date hadn't been that great. Dinner had been
wonderful, but Steve could be so pushy. She loved him, but they had only been
dating a couple of weeks. He acted like he owned her and needed to know
everything she had been doing. And he wanted her to transfer out of the
X-Files because he didn't like her and Mulder being so close.
Mulder. That was another thing that was bothering her. He had acted so
strange when Steve called. Okay, so she hadn't exactly been nice about Bambi,
but still. . .
	The phone rang.
	"Scully."
	"Hey, Dana, it's me."
	"Oh, hi Steve."
"So, do you want to get together tonight?"
"Oh, sure. Do you want to come to my place for dinner? We can go to a movie
after that."
	"That'd be great, Dana."
	"See you at. . . 5:30?"
	"Sure."
	"Bye."
	"Bye."
Dana hung up the phone as Mulder walked in. "Who was that?" he asked.
"Oh. . . My mother called." She wondered why she was lying to him.
	"What'd she want?"
"She wanted to know if, uh, I could go over Saturday. Night. For. . .
Dinner."
	"Oh. . . Yeah. . ."

The rest of the day was uneventful. Scully did paperwork, Mulder
productively stared at the flying toasters on the screen saver.

Scully's Apartment
September 14, 1997
6:00

Scully sat across from Steve at the table. They had called out for pizza. It
had just arrived when the phone rang. Steve picked it up.
	"Hello?"
It was Mulder. "Hi. . . This is Fox Mulder. Is Scully there?" he asked.
Steve frowned. "We're kind of ‘busy' at the moment. . ."
"Steve, who is it?" Dana asked. She grabbed the phone. "Hello?"
	"Scully, it's me."
"Oh, hi, Mulder. What's going on?"
"We have a break in the Cornflakes case."
	"Now?"
"Yes, right now. Suspects are Cari Hennessy and Danielle Falvo. The address
is 929 Oakleaf Court. . . Do you need me to pick you up?"
	"Do you mind?"
"No, I'll be right there. Sorry you have to leave Steve." he couldn't keep
the touch of ice out of his voice.
	"Yeah, well. . ."
They said goodbye and Dana hung up. "Steve. . ." she began hesitantly. He
wasn't going to like this. "I have to go with Mulder. There's a break in the
Cornflakes case. . ."
	"Mulder's going to be there?"
"Well, of course. He's my partner."
"I thought we talked about that."
"We did. And I'm not leaving the X-Files. I have to get changed. I think you
should leave. Okay? I'll see you tomorrow." She went over to kiss him, but
instead he slapped her in the face.
"Steve!" she jumped back in surprise.
	"You are not going."
"I have to. It's my job. . ." Her eyes were wide
"It's Mulder, isn't it? He's making you do this."
	"Get out."
	"What?"
"You heard me. I said get out. Now!"
	"Dana, you can't do this!"
"Yes, I can. Get out." Her voice wavered.
He slapped her again. His nail caught on her lip and it started to bleed.
"STOP IT!" she screamed. She started to cry.

Mulder paused outside the door long enough to hear Dana scream. He knocked
on the door. "Scully? What's going on?"

Steve ran over to the door and locked it. "What is he doing here?" Steve
hissed. Dana just kept crying. "Shut up!" he whispered. "Look, Dana I am *so*
sorry. We can tell him you fell and cut your lip. . ."

She shook her head no. She didn't know what to do. Steve had seemed so nice.
He was just so jealous.

Mulder used his key and entered the apartment. Steve abruptly let go of
Dana's arm.
Mulder looked at Dana. Her lip was bleeding and her cheeks were red. She was
trying to stop crying.
Mulder didn't need to be an Oxford graduate to figure it out. He pulled his
gun on Steve. "Get the hell out."
Steve started to protest, but thought better of it. He glared at Dana and
left, slamming the door behind him.
Mulder dropped the gun and rushed over to Dana. He took her in his arms and
she sobbed. "Oh, God, Mulder. . ."
	"It's okay, it's okay."
He kissed her on the top of her head gently.
	"Thank you," she whispered.
They stayed that way for a long time.

Epilog

Steve went to the FBI building the next morning. Skinner's secretary let him
in to Skinner's office. Steve was determined to get Mulder and Scully
separated. He had decided to tell the AD that they were having sexual
relations.
He sat down at Skinner's desk and waited.
Skinner burst through the door, fire extinguisher in hand. He turned it on
Steve without looking and covered Steve with white foam.
	"I said NO SMOKING!"
Steve jumped of the chair. "What the-" He sputtered. He ran out of the
office screaming.
