Title: Dear Unknown: Is Somebody Looking?
Author: Mikey G.W.
Summary: Mulder writes a letter. . . a very short one. heh heh
Disclaimer: Not today, it's too hot. translation: the X-Files don't belong to
me.

Mulder sat at his desk in his living room. With pencil in paper in hand
he had no idea what to write- if anything at all. Mulder held his breath and
slowly released it.

    "Dear Unknown:

"I met you the other day. As if by chance you fell in my life and now it
seems your here to stay. And still as if by chance you brought me a companion
that wasn't one to discouraged like you Unknown. And for that I thank you.
But for every thanks I give for her I'd give a shallow sigh of bewilderment
as I find myself wondering if The Unknown wasn't one to favor a soul like me.

"I do try to keep my eyes open when charting the unknown, but I just
often find myself closing my eyes to the reality that you show. The awesome
reality and cruel fates await you in your unjudging eye.

"And while I wasn't looking the other way I hope somebody else was. The
unknown parts of life seemed as contrived as this letter I'd hope they'd get
better. Only to find The Unknown wasn't likely to change. It might have
broken my heart to know what you had in store for me. But it tore me like is
letter to know what you had waiting for her. To The Unknown you gave me her
and just the same you could take her away. And with that I treasure the finer
moments when I'm looking and you leave her to stay."

Mulder set down his pencil and flicked off his only means of light: a
pathetic lamp resting on the edge of the desk. He laid himself down to sleep.
Unknown to him that somebody was looking out for him that day.
