Dana Scully sat on a psychologist's black couch with her head resting unnaturally back. Her eyes were squeezed tightly shut and she held Mulder's hand in her own shaking fist. "What is chasing you, Agent Scully?" The dream annalyst coaxed. "What will get you if you stop?" He was speaking in a hushed voice while furiously scribbling notes and symbols on a pad of paper he held in his left hand. She shook her head slowly. "I can't see it." She whispered fearfully. "Then how are you aware of it's presence." The dream annalyst asked automatically. "I can feel it." Scully answered shakily. At her responce, the psychologist nodded and wrote 'typical chasing dream' on the notepad. This was obviously the answer he had been looking for. The expression on his face clearly stated that he'd heard this from countless patients. Mulder himself had experienced being chased by an unknown entity in his own nightmares, so he decided that this was quite common and the dream annalyst would have a clear explanation for it. "Oh God+ACEAIg- Scully screamed out. Mulder placed his other hand over their interlocked fingers. "What's happaning now, Agent Scully?" His voice came again. She shook her head incredulously. Then she opened her mouth as if about to speak, but then closed her mouth. "It's alright, go on, Scully." Mulder assured her, speaking up for the first time since the beggining of Scully's dream regression annalysis session began. "I..." She started uncertainly. "I'm getting younger." "What?" The psychologist looked up from his notepad. He would have looked as if he were about to drop the pen he held in his hand if he weren't gripping it so tightly. The psychologist shook his head and leaned over toward Mulder. "This isn't something I usually see, you know." He said in a hushed voice. Mulder looked over at Scully, then back to the psychologist. "Well, do you have any idea what it means?" He asked fearfully. "We'll just have to wait and see what happens later in this dream." He shook his head and went back to writing on the little notepad. "What's happening now, Agent Scully?" He turned his attention back to the trembling woman on his couch. "There's someone with me..." She ventured slowly. "He's about the same age as me...which looks to be about...seventeen." "Do you know him? Is it someone you've seen before?" He asked after scribbling '17' onto the paper. "It's Mulder." She said simply. "But younger." Mulder stared unknowingly at his partner. Scully had never seen him as a seventeen-year-old. He knew that she saw pictures of him shortly before Sam's abduction but not afterwards. He wondered what he looked like in her dream. "OK." The psychologist nodded slowly. "Now we're dancing." She smiled warmly. Mulder grinned slightly and held her hand tighter. This session, like the last one, wasn't going where he wanted it to go. The last session had revealed Scully's dream of being seduced by the school jock that looked suprisingly similar to him, and this session was not much different. He was glad they had switched psychologists because Doctor Grenwich certainly wouldn't have taken anymore of Scully's midnight soap operas. "No+ACEAIg- Scully suddenly screamed out interupting Mulder's thoughts. "What is it, Agent Scully?" The psychologist asked gently. "I kissed him and...he dissapeared." She answered sadly. Mulder wasn't a dream annalyst, but he knew the meaning of that gesture. Scully was subconciously afraid that if she and he were ever to become romantically involved, he would split. He couldn't believe she felt that way. "Is that all, Agent Scully?" The phsychologist asked finnaly. "Yes." "On the count of three," He began neutrally, unaware of the dramatic secret that had just been unveiled to Mulder. "You will wake up and remember all of what you have just said." "Wait+ACEAIg- Mulder inturupted before the man could start counting. "Wouldn't it be..." He began nervously. "Well I just...don't you think it would be better if she didn't remember this?" He shifted uneasily. "I mean, this could be a traumatic thing, you know?" He blurted quickly. "Agent Mulder, I have things under control." He answered calmly. "One..." "Two..." He looked pointedly over at Mulder. "Three." Scully opened her eyes and sat up. Daring a peek at her partner, she darted her eyes over at him and then rested them on the psychologist. "Thank you." She answered quickly and then left the room with her eyes on the floor. Mulder followed her out to his car. "Scully..." He started. "I just want to say-" "I know." She interupted in a small voice still concentrating on the floor of the car. "I know." The rest of the car ride was silent. +AH4AfgB+AH4AfgB+AH4AfgB+AH4AfgB+AH4AfgB+AH4AfgB+AH4AfgB+AH4AfgB+AH4AfgB+AH4AfgB+AH4AfgB+AH4AfgB+AH4AfgB+AH4AfgB+AH4AfgB+AH4- THE END rikkiLYNN Sequel called Dreaming in Black and White 2/2 "Before, I could only trust myself.
