Disclaimer: Mulder and Scully don’t belong to me, but considering I wrote this
story on Christmas Day, I would gladly except them as gifts.
I think
they’re still doing free gift wrap at the mall (hint, hint).
Bambi and
Cinderella belong to Disney, but considering my uncle works
for Fox
Animation Studios I probably should have used Anastasia
instead. Oh
well, I hope my family doesn’t disown me. Barney belongs to
some evil
person who’s goals are to sing stupid songs to us until we
eventually go
crazy and/or die. (no offense intended! (: ) No copyright
infringements intended. Have a nice day.

Summary: Mulder and Scully have an early morning get-together. This is
attempted humor on my part, so if it’s not funny, blame my
brother ( he
has nothing to do with it, but I have a hard time excepting
blame). I
wrote this as a M/S friendship, but if you like M/S romances,
then feel
free to interpret this however you like.

Personal Thing I Would Like To Say : My cousin is doing the special effects
for
                                                        the X-files movie
coming out in
                                                        spring/summer of 1998!
Teehee - I know
                                                        some secrets, but I
can’t tell! (evil laugh)

This is my first try at this writing stuff. E-mail is always welcome at
Zippy14U@aol.com. I don’t care if it sucked, but I would like to know if it
did or didn’t, so I can then blame my brother.

Geez, that introduction was almost longer than my story. Well, here it is:

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Scully awoke to find herself trembling and sitting up in bed. Her body was
covered in a thin layer of sweat and her breath came short. Her nightmare had
been terrifying, she could still feel the horror of it, chilling her bones.
She no longer knew what it was about, however. The details had escaped her
before she even had time to register them, leaving only the feeling of evil
and impending doom.
Her hand reached for the phone and dialed the familiar number. It was only
when she heard it start to ring that she glanced at the clock. <Shit!> It was
4:46 AM. *Way* too late - or early, whichever way you look at it.
She went to hang up, hoping she hadn’t disturbed the few hours of sleep the
insomniac did get. Before she could, though, she heard his voice.
	"Scully?"
"Mulder? Were you awake? How’d you know it was me?"
"I was just watching a video and I guess it was a gut feeling. Is something
wrong?" his voice sounded anxious and worried. She immediately felt guilty for
calling over a stupid nightmare.
	"Um, well, ...not exactly."
"Do you need something? I can be there in 15 minutes, 10 if I speed."
"No, no, I’m fine. I just had a nightmare, its nothing."
	"What about?"
"I don’t remember anymore. I’m really sorry to bother you. I’ll see you
tomorrow."
"It’s no bother, Scully. I was just pulling another involuntary all niter.
And did you mean ‘you’ll see me Monday’ or were you really planning on
coming
in on a Saturday?"
"Oh, yeah. Right. I’ll see you Monday. Goodnight Mulder."
	"Hey, Scully?"
	"Yeah?"
"You know you can talk to me about anything, anytime, right? Even if it is
*just* a nightmare."
	"Thanks Mulder."
	"Night Scully."
She replaced the phone into it’s cradle and rolled onto her back. The lights
from the street dimly illuminated her room. She stared at the ceiling, its
cream color appearing blue in the limited light. She could hear the wrist
watch on her nightstand tick by the seconds. Scully closed her eyes, but found
no sleep lingering there. She opened them and reached for the phone.
	"Mulder," he answered.
	"Whatcha watching?"

XXX

Mulder opened his door to reveal Scully, dressed in jeans and a flannel. In
her hands she held two coffee cups and a box of donuts.
"Scully! Don’t you know how much fat is in donuts?"
"Well! Fine welcome I get! And to think I went and bought breakfast too."
She
smiled and pushed past him.
"Well then, just come right in." After her phone call, he had hastened to
tidy his apartment a bit and found a clean pair of jeans and a T-shirt, for he
felt boxers were a tad inappropriate. <Although> he thought ironically
<Scully’s seen me with a lot less clothes and in a tad more vulnerable of
position>.
"No way are we watching this," Scully said staring at the TV. Mulder
shrugged. In his haste he had forgotten to shut off the "video" he had been
viewing. He watched, a little embarrassed, as Scully went to the VCR and
pulled out his porn movie. She returned it to its proper spot and ran her
finger along his video collection, looking for something suitable.
"Geez, Mulder. Don't you have anything *but* porn or alien cover-up?
Oh, wait, what's this?"
	"Scully, wait-"
"Mulder!" She turned, surprised as she pulled the movie out. An evil smirk
came across her face, "Bambi?"
He shrugged and smiled sheepishly, "I always liked that name."
"Well, Bambi the cockroach lady I can understand, but a talking deer? What's
next? Barney?"
Mulder's smile vanished and his face turned to that of a hurt puppy dog,
"That's going a bit far, don't you think?"
"I love you, you love me, we're a happy family…" she ducked to avoid the
pillow that flew towards her.
"Let me have the tape," he came towards her, holding out his hand.
"You'll have to catch me first." He reached for her but she slipped by him.
He chased her into the kitchen, where he got her pinned in the corner.
"I win. Give me the video."
"That's what you think." She poked him in his sides and when his arms went
instinctively to protect himself from further tickling she ducked by him. He
turned and caught her by her wrist and smiled.
"You * almost * got away with that."
"You forget. I had two brothers," She reached with her free hand and found
the pressure point in his arm. He released her immediately and she dashed back
into the living room. He was close behind her and she spied the door to his
bedroom. Crossing the room she flung open the door and found herself face to
face with a …closet.
	"You don't have a bedroom?!"
"Nope," he said, snatching the tape from her. He returned to the TV. "Come
and sit."
	"Okay, but no porn, *please*."
"Of course not, we’re gonna watch this," he said, putting Bambi into the
VCR.
	"Really?"
He stuck his tongue out at her and joined her on the couch.
They watched silently until Thumper and Bambi had grownup. On the screen
the
female rabbit flirted with Thumper and when she played with his ears his foot
began to thump.
"Oh, now I know why you watch this movie." Scully said, a playful smile on
her lips.
"Haven’t you ever been twiterpated, Scully?"
	"I plead the fifth."
"You can deny the truth for only so long."
"I’m not denying anything, I just chose not to answer."
Mulder didn’t respond and they watched in silence again.
"You know," Scully said after a moment, "Feline is so stereotypical. She’s
helpless unless Bambi’s around, she always needs someone to protect her.
"Ah, but what did she do before Bambi was around? She only started
needing
him when she fell in love, and he needed her..." Mulder let the thought die,
feeling it was faintly familiar in a way.
When the movie was over Mulder got up and shut it off. "7:30, hey, come
on."
Mulder took Scully’s hand and lead her out into the hallway outside of his
apartment. He took her to the stairs and they climbed two flights until they
reached the roof of the building. The cold winter air hit them and Scully
pulled her arms up around her.
"Just in time," Mulder said. To the east they could see Washington DC,
silhouetted by the morning sunrise. It was a clear January morning, streaked
only by a few clouds. The rising sun threw brilliant colors across the clouds,
bright pinks and lavenders, shaded by red. 20 minutes later the sun had
completely risen.
"I may be red/green colorblind, but I know a good sunrise when I see one.
Hey, are you cold?" he looked at her worriedly.
She hadn’t noticed her teeth were chattering until he mentioned it, she had
been too preoccupied watching the sunrise. Now, she felt really cold.
Mulder came closer, drawing her into his arms. She did the same, enjoying
the
warmth and closeness of him. They were quiet for several minutes.
	"Mulder?"
	"Hmm?"
"Thanks," she waited for him to ask her why, but he didn’t say anything.
She
looked up at him, meeting his eyes and realized that he didn’t ask because he
already knew why. Her one word was enough. She hugged him and he did the
same.
"So," Mulder said after several minutes, "Wanna watch Cinderella?"

                                             The End
