SPOILER: You may not want to read this if you haven't seen "Elegy"
which aired on May 4, 1997
DISCLAIMER: I'm not trying to steal the characters created by the
stupid blond surfer dude. Scully and Mulder belong to 1013, C.C., and
Fox Broadcasting. No copyright infringement is intended. I'm innocent,
please don't sue me. I love you man!

This is the follow up to "Elegy". This is what wouldn't let me sleep
until it was written. Thanks to Megan for all the help. And to David
for all the crazyness and Crystal 'cause she's nice. This doesn't apply
to "The Universe". Only the gang understands. Now on with the show.

After seeing his apparation Scully was torn. Tell Mulder or go home
and call him later. Instead of making their problem worse she decided
to go tell him. She didn't want to make the chism that formed between
them any wider. She headed back into the hospital, as she came up
behind Mulder he turned before she could say anything and said, "He's
dead Scully."
	"I know," she said.
	"How?" he asked.
"I saw him." At the puzzlement on his face she replied, "The
apparition in my car. I wanted you to know."
"Scully, I'm really sorry about the way I acted earlier."
"No, Mulder it was understandable. I should have told you." When her
eyes lifred to his was when he noticed the tear stains and red eyes.
"Scully," he said softly, "are you alright?"
"I'm fine Mulder. I'm going home." The way his eyes were probing her
was as if he could read her very soul. She didn't like that feeling or
thought. As she turned to leave he caught her arm.
"How 'bout I drive you home?" he had a look of genuine concern on his
face. "No Mulder I'm fine." she said, "But thanks."
	"Call me later." he said.
"Sure Mulder." The tears she tried to keep at bay came again as she
drove home.
She stepped out of the shower and wrapped herself in her warm robe.
She had overwhelming feelings of extreme lonlyness. She just wanted
someone there to hold her and talk to her. But who, she thought as she
sank down on the couch. She glanced at the clock it was 10 till
midnight, no chance of sleep and nothing on T.V. What to do.
"Oh, what the hell," she muttered. She padded over to the phone and
dialed the familiar number. After three rings she went to hang up, when
a husky, familiar, male voice answered, "Hello?"
"Mulder, I'm sorry I woke you."
"Scully?" he asked. He was instantly awake now.
"I was wondering if we could talk, or is this a bad time?"
"Sure we can talk. But do you want to do it over the phone or in
person?"
"I think I'd rather talk one on one, would you mind?"
"Never, I'll be over in 10 minutes."
	"Thanks Mulder."
She made coffee and set two coffee mugs on the counter when the
doorbell rang. She had put on a pair of flannel pants and a favorite
T-shirt. She opened the door to a sleepy looking Mulder. He was
dressed in jeans and a T-shirt and his black leather jacket.
"Come in Mulder." He walked in and immediately she felt sager and
comforted. "Have a seat." she said, "would you like some coffee?"
"Yeah, that sounds great." he sat down on the couch and took off his
jacket. This is going to be an interesting evening, he thought.
"I'm not sure why I asked you over. But this feels right." They were
sitting on the couch in her living room.
"I'm glad you asked me over. I felt that we needed to talk."
"I'm sorry that I didn't tell you that I saw her." she said, " I just
couldn't believe I saw her and didn't want to admit it." Scully looked
at him.
He replied, "I shouldn;t have jumped at you either. I accused you of
things I know in my heart you never do. I don't think I can handle
that."
"Oh, Mulder." she didn't know what to say. "I don't want to leave
you. But I also don't want to burden you with this."
	"Scully you never could."
"Mulder, I know this sounds crazy but could you hold me please. I feel
so alone."
As he gathered her small body into his arms he said, "Scully you are
never alone, never. I'll always be here for you. I promise."
