        Every night in my dreams

Rain was pouring outside the window. Dana Scully was staring outside of
the window, seeing nothing. Her mind was somewhere far away from her body.
Since the loss of her partner, she hasn't been herself. Who would be
herself after losing a partner, best friend and a love at the same time?
Not even Dana Scully, even though she's known as the Ice Queen of the
Bureau. 

Just this morning she had finally realised that Mulder was not coming
back. That she was all alone now. She can't cry anymore, she's been crying
for the past week, but now, there's just emptiness. She's all alone now. 

She sits on the couch and closes her eyes. Slowly, she lets herself
dream...her mind slips somewhere far away... 

" Scully...can you hear me?"  Suddenly she's hearing a familiar voice... 
"Mulder, where are you?"  She looks around, but sees no one.  "I'm here
Scully. Turn around."  She turns around and sees Mulder, standing in a ray
of light. His eyes are sparkling, and he's smiling.  " Mulder...I've
missed you so much! Why did you go away?  She reaches out to touch his
hand. Mulder takes her hand inside his and draws her into his arms.  " I
missed you too Scully...The sound of your sarcastic voice, your smile,
your face...everything...But this was meant to be, Scully. I had to
leave."  Tears are now running down Scully's face.  "but why...I can't
stay if you're not there..."  "you have to, Scully. You have got to find
the truth. You have to find proof. You have to do it."  Scully looks deep
into his eyes.  "I'm not able to work without you...My life is nothing if
you're not there...I can't, Mulder..."  Mulder places his hands on her
shoulders.  " You have to, I need you to do it..."  "Mulder I can't...It
would only remind me of you..."  "Scully, you have to try...You mean so
much to me. Would you do it?  For me?"  She shakes her head and more tears
fall.  " Mulder...nothing is worth doing it if you're gone. I know it now. 
My life is so empty without you."  She's crying but Mulder wipes away her
tears.  " Don't cry, my love. I will never go away. I will always be here,
right here, near you. If you care of me, I shall always live inside your
heart. And I know you do care."  Now, Scully smiles through the tears. 
"how could you know that..."  " If you didn't care, you would've left me
years ago. And you wouldn't be crying. It's all clear now."  " Mulder, I
love you. I can't live without you. I need to be with you..."  "
Scully...I mean Dana. I will never leave you. All you have to do is close
your eyes and think of me, and I will be there, watching your step,
guarding you from the bad guys...I will be near. I will live inside your
heart"  The ray of light starts to dim. Mulder's disappearing in the
shadows. The ray keeps on dimming, till it's completely dark. But then,
from somewhere, she hears Mulder's voice:  " Never let go, Scully...You
have to keep on searching, and you will find the truth. And I will be
there, I will never leave youuuuuuu..."  and then his voice disappears. 

Scully wakes up and opens her eyes. The room is dark and so is her mind. 
She gets up and turns the radio on. She walks to the window and looks out. 

A familiar melody starts to play and within seconds, she knows she wasn't
dreaming... 

"Every night in my dreams I see you I feel you That is how I know you Go
on

Far across the distance and spaces between us you have come to show you go
on

Near. Far
wherever you are
I believe that the heart does go on
Once more you open the door
and you're here in my heart and my
heart will go on and on..."

She wipes away the tears and suddenly understands it all. 

"...You're here there's nothing I fear I believe that the heart does go
on.  We'll stay forever this way you are safe in my heart and my heart
will go on and on..." 

The sun breaks out behind the clouds and gives everything a magical glow. 
 She turns off the radio and senses the warmth of the sun. It's all so
clear.  Mulder has never left her. He will always be with her. Mulder will
always live inside her heart.
