Summary: A woman enters a church.

A woman removes her gloves, placing them on 
the seat beside her as she kneels in the back 
pew of the church.

It is the first Sunday after Christmas, the Feast 
of the Holy Family, and the priest begins his 
homily by stating the need for the family unit 
and the importance of preserving it.

The woman kneels with her hands clasped and 
her head bowed, only half listening to the 
homily. She thinks about the mess her own 
family is in.

Her lover is in hiding.

She has given her son up for adoption.

Her heart is in pieces.

Dana Scully grips the rosary beads tightly 
between her fingers until the stones bed into 
her skin and for the first time in three years, 
she prays.
