Gimme a buzz on I accept anything.I put away my pride and deal with flames.I love to get encouragement,so please *pretty please with thingies on top*let me know what all you influencial people out there think!!!Thanks........... **************************************************** Silence.Everything was so still.Occasionaly the sound of shuffling feet would be heard,but apart from that it was all extremely quiet.The sky was pitch black,but clear and stars could be seen easily.Mulder and Scully hid behind a hedge,while dozens of other officers hid behind bushes,walls and trees.They all had guns at the ready,and walkies-talkies for any back-up needed.An ambulance was stationed only a few yards down the road. Suddenly a blue ford pulled up in the garden,where the police and FBI were all hiding. A young woman of about twenty-five got out of the car.Her long blonde hair straggled behind her,the wind blowing it in different directions.She moved to open the door for the backseat passenager.She pulled out a girl of about ten years old.The girl was crying and trying to pull away from what looked like her mother. "Mommy,no!I don't want to."She cried,as though she was in pain. "C'mon Melissa.Daddy wants to talk to you."She pleaded with her young daughter. "No!Please mommy.Don't make me.Please......."Melissa begged. "I'm sorry honey.Daddy has to talk to you and then we can go."She pulled at her daughter's hand and led her up the steps of the house. Mulder and Scully watched carefully as the door opened. "Jenny,move away,NOW!"Called the man inside the house. "Please Danny,don't hurt her.Please."Jenny moved back from her daughter as a gun was placed in front of her face. "Aaaaaaaaaaah!Daddy Don't!"Melissa began to scream. "Shut up you little bitch."He slapped the little girl across the face. Several officers moved out from their hiding place and ran towards the house. "Mr.Wilkins,drop your weapon now!"Shouted one of the police men running towards him. "There's nowhere to run now.Just drop your weapon and move away from the woman and child." "Oh Jenny.Why did you have to do this?Why?You could have made it easy.But no!You were always a stupid bitch.You ruined everything,and now it's my turn to ruin you." He pushed the gun right in her face and pulled the black trigger. """""""BANG"""""" "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!"Melissa screamed.She turned quickly and ran from the house,into the garden were Scully ran up to her and grabbed her. She sobbed gently into Scully's arms. "Shhh Shhh.C'mon it's okay now Melissa.You're safe now."Scully whispered to the grieving child softly. Scully lifted the young child up and carried her in her arms and over to the paramedics.Melissa's mother had already been taken away in the ambulance,and only a few paramedics were still around. "Agent Scully.What can i do for you?"Asked one of the men. "It's Melissa here.She's in shock and i was wondering if you had a blanket around?Maybe even some water or something aswell?" "Yeah sure."He took the child in his arms and set her on top of the trunk of his car. "Ohhhh look at that agent Scully."He pointed to a deep cut on the side of her face. "Oh goodness."She tilted Melissa's head into the light,so that she could see the mark clearer. "Melissa,how did this happen to you sweetheart?" "Daddy...uh..he..uh...hit...me."She began hyperventilating. Scully took the blanket and cup of water off the paramedic.She placed the green,wooly, blanket across the child's shoulder's and helped her to sip the water.Tears still rolling down her little pale face. Dana turned away to see Mulder coming towards her. "Hey!How is the little one?"He looked over at the child on the trunk. Scully turned around and looked at Melissa.The paramedic was trying to make her laugh. She sighed. "She's doin' okay." Mulder nodded. "A doctor from the hospital phoned.He said that Jenny Parks, her mother is dead.She was killed almost instantly after being shot. Scully nodded back at him. "And her father,Danny Wilkins has been arrested along with five other men found with illegal drugs inside the house." Dana rubbed her face and eyes."What's happening with Melissa then?"She asked. "I guess she's probably going to be taking into care.She has no family that could look after her,so that's the only solution." "Mulder,i'd like to take Melissa home myself.I don't think it would be good for her to be with complete strangers tonight.She's very shocked and it may make her worse." "Scully,i don't think we should be getting that close to the case.I mean -" "Look i know it's not a great idea,but it might upset her more if she's alone,plus the fact her mother is dead."Scully answered. "Well,okay then.I'll tell Social services what's going on."Mulder turned and walked off,making his way towards two women waiting to take the girl home. Scully walked back to Melissa.She smiled as the little pale face looked up at her. "Hey.You're gonna come home with me tonight,sweetie."She rubbed her hand over Melissa's hair. Dana felt like she had a responsibility over the little girl.From the moment she had seen the her,she felt as though she knew this child so well even though they'd never met before. It was just like a feeling going through her whole body and she couldn't get rid of it. Melissa nodded at Scully's statement. "C'mon then."Scully lifted her up into her arms.Melissa's neck embeded into her shoulder. This felt so natural for Scully.It felt good.Scully walked down to her car.She opened the back door and put Melissa into one of the seats.The little girl attemped to put her seat belt on. "Here i'll do that for you."Scully took the belt of her and fixed it. "What's your name?"Melissa looked up into Scully's eyes. "My names's Dana Scully."Scully smiled showing her pearly white teeth. "Oh."Melissa smiled. "Okay,i'm gonna take you home now.Have you had anything to eat?" "No,mommy said that i shouldn't eat until tomorrow."She replied innocently. Scully bit her lip hard.Melissa looked so thin and feeble.Her mother obvisously hadn't fed her properly. "Um...well,how about we get agent Mulder and we'll go get pizza,huh?" "Yep!Thank-you Miss Scully."Melissa's face lit up at this news. "Hey,call me Dana." "Thank-you Dana.Very much."She said. ***************************************************************** "Hi,how may i help you?"Came a voice from the little box on the buildings' wall. "Hi,could i have a large peperoni,salami and onion pizza with a portion of garlic bread and three cans of cola please."Scully spoke into the the box. "Yeah,that'll be $11:40 please"Said the girl,her quiet voice coming out through the box. Scully drove around to the window.She picked up the food and paid for it. "Mulder do you wanna come back to my place with me and Melissa to eat this?"Scully asked. "Sure,that would be great." ********************************************************** "Well that sure was good pizza!"Mulder said hitting his stomach.The first few buttons on his shirt were undone and his boots lay in the middle of the floor. "Why don't we all play a game or something?" Mulder turned and looked up onto the sofa behind him.Melissa was asleep.Her long red hair lay on the cushion she was cuddling beside her. Scully came out of her bedroom. "Naaaaa.Melissa's sleeping.I'm gonna put her into bed now."Scully knelt down beside the little girl and put her hand on Melissa's face. "C'mon sweetie,you have to get into bed now.I've got a nightie for you,so you can wear that and then we'll go get your teeth cleaned." Melissa lifted herself of the couch and headed into Scully's bedroom.Dana followed her. "I'll be out in a minute Mulder.Grab some beers from the fridge."She closed the bedroom door behind her. "Okay Missy!"Scully opened one of her drawers. "Who's Missy?"Melissa asked.Her lips curling to one side.Her deep blue eyes looked tired. Scully paused and smiled. "My sister was called Melissa.We all called her Missy as a pet name.I guess i sort of called you Missy by accident."She placed her hand on Melissa's head. "I like that name Dana!"Melissa quiped.She then pulled her little blue dress over her small head. "Y'know you look very like my sister when she was young.She had long wavy red too. And she even used to wear it like yours too!"Dana said. Melissa put the white T-shirt Scully had given her on. "Where's you're sister now?" Tears came to Dana's eyes. "She's in Heaven now,with God and Jesus." "Just like my mommy,huh?" "Yep,just like you're mommy."A hot tear fell down Scully's face. "C'mon,you gotta go clean your teeth now honey!" ************************************************************ Scully reappeared into the living room again.She played with her red hair,putting it into a pony-tail and then letting it fall by her face again. Her eyes still looked slightly red. "Scully,you okay?Asked Mulder as he watched her enter the room. "Yeah,sure i am.I'm just tired that's all!"She joined him on the floor,resting her back against the sofa. "I got ya a beer."He placed the beer down beside her legs. "Thanks.So,what do you wanna do now then?" "Let's just talk,okay?"He guestured. "Um,yeah why not!"She began to relax her shoulders more now. "God,i feel so sorry for that poor kid." "I know.She's such a sweet child.She reminds me of Missy so much!" Scully began smiling again. "Your sister?" "Yeah.I miss her Mulder.Why did this have to happen?.I need her......" "Scully,i know how it feels to lose someone you love.When Samantha was taken,it was like,my.....my life was just a big....a big nothing.There was nothing to live for anymore.Then i realized that whatever had happened to her,she would have never wanted me to be so depressed and sad all the time.We both loved each other so much.Neither of us would have wanted either one of us to suffer pain."Mulder chewed his lip.He'd never been this open about his sister like this ever before.A tear fell from his face. "Oh Mulder."She put her hand on Mulder's face and wiped away the tear falling from his hazel green eyes.They always seemed to change colour when he was in different moods.Never the same colour......... Mulder turned and looked at this wonderful woman,partner and great friend. "I know Scully..........i know."His eyes piercing hers. "I can't lose you either.I need you." Scully wept right there.She pulled Mulder towards her.They held each other closely and cried. "I can't lose you Scully.I love you.You are the *only* person who ever stuck by me and now....i....i depend on you and your faith in me."Mulder held her soft face in his hands. "I'll never,ever leave you Mulder.I'll guide you when you're not strong.I'll rejoice with you when you're happy.I'll comfort you when you're sad.I'll be there always." Mulder blew out between his lips and nodded. "I just wish it was me and not you......" "No,no Mulder.*Never* wish that!You are needed here and you have a great purpose in life.Don't ever think anything else?"She rubbed his face with her thumb. "You...you have the purpose here Scully!"He told her. Scully shook her head.She squeazed his hand. "Fate has proven otherwise." "Fate.......Do you know what you're saying?"Mulder jaw dropped. "You're saying you have a whole new belief system!" Scully giggled and then bit her lower lip. "Fate is there Mulder.We can't change they way are lives are planned. I'm dying and that's how it was meant to be."Her face growing serious again. "And i'm meant to keep on searching for the truth.Our truth."Mulder replied. "Yes.You know that's what is meant to be.And i'll be there with you.My strength by your side." "I guess this was all fate then too,huh?"Mulder asked. "What?"Scully said in doubt. "Oh just the fact that a little girl with red hair could bring to great friends closer together!"Mulder asked smiling smugly. "Yeah i guess so!" They both pulled each other closer and hugged.Both of them laughing and making the most of that happy moment.
