I feel exhaustion running through my body, releasing the tense muscles as my eyes slide close and peace overcomes my body. For several days now I've experienced a weird series of dreams, I'm on a beach a round sort of alcove with big tropical trees behind me that sway in the wind. I watch the crystal clear water as it kisses the shore, brushing my toes in the process. I'm standing looking into the vast ocean noting all of its perfections. How peaceful and translucent it is once it reaches the shore. There are rocks farther up that I discovered two nights ago, and beyond the rocks are three waterfalls that led to a separate clear pool, taking the purity of the water into a shallow existence within my reach, but for some reason I didn't go into the pool. At first I just sit and think about the peace that has enveloped me in this place, its security and its freshness. It's been a long time since I felt safe anywhere, but here in this place; in my dreams I'm at ease. And now I find myself drawn back to the pools and waterfalls, this time when I reach the pool I will go in and let the water wash over my body. As I walk feeling the ground under my bare feet I notice its smoothness. The water has added to its ease over time and I'm grateful even more for the waters skill. When I walk in I don't bother taking off the soft white dress that clings to my body upon entry. I duck my head letting the petals of water tingle my skin and dance in my hair, it feels wonderful, slowly looking up I see the sky fade to darkness and fireflies move in the moonlight. I hear a soft sound in the distance, and my ears sharpen on the noise. Again it sounds, something like my name is said and a figure emerges from the tangled trees around the pool, his muscular form emerging with a beautiful smile upon his face, I smile in return feeling just as peaceful as always knowing he is here too. He reaches out to me and I take his hand allowing him to pull me away for the shallow depths of the pool. His hands are warm and feel soft and strong all at the same time. As he leads me back to the shore I watch his form gracefully moving through the trees. The moonlight is more amazing here then by the pool, the fireflies are still dancing in the sky and the moonlight now shimmers on the oceans surface, I smile and sit down. The man who held my hands sits behind me and allows me to rest against his frame. His arms encircling me as he watches the night's sky. His voice is rough in my ear, "Scully?" he whispers. I reply a lazy "Hum?" To him; the man who has both protected me and placed me in danger the man who has made me feel pain and sacrifice, and who has given me a love that I before thought was something only in movies and novels. "We're here" he says, looking up at the bright moon which seems to have a circle of yellow around it. I close my eyes smiling, and this time when my eyes open I see my paradise has disappeared, but not the man who held his hand to me in the pool, my eyes drift up to his and he holds his hand out to help me out of the car, I take it and a smile grows on my face. Maybe Mulder was right and dreams are answers to questions we haven't yet figured out how to asked.
