The First Date By Fiona Bland DISCLAIMERS: Walter Skinner, Dana Scully, Fox Mulder, Cancer Man, Melissa Scully and Bill Scully Jr. don't belong to me. They are the brain child of Chris Carter, 1013 Productions and Twentieth Century Fox. Twister's Jo and company belong to Warner Bros. Pictures. Oh yeah, Phoebe Green, Detective. White and Dr. Bambi don't belong to me either, they again belong to Chris Carter, 1013 Productions and Twentieth Century Fox. I don't mean to break any laws by borrowing these characters. I'm taking them out for a test run and they'll be returned safely and in one piece. ***WARNING*** This is a mild relationshipper. There's is some reference to characters from the third season. Also there is mention to the hit movie, "Twister". AA rated only. AUTHOR'S NOTES: As much as I love watching The X-Files every Friday night, I thought that I would try to write my own fan fiction. There's some romance in it but nothing that's really x-rated. There is some swearing but it's rare. I tried to write this with some sort of humour in it. Don't take it seriously, it's supposed to be funny. Well all I can say is that I tried. I would like to thank Nicole VanDam for giving me the idea to write this after reading her story, "A Day in the Life of Mulder and Scully" and to Gillian Anderson-Klotz. Without her personality, I don't think I could've written this. Also to all my friends in W.X.F.C. (Western's X-Files Fan Club) for all those Friday night meetings! "No One Needs To Know" was written by Shania Twain and John "Mutt" Lange. Any comments, flames or suggestions can be sent to: FBland@L2.Lonet.ca. This was completed on 05/27/96. THE OFFICE OF A.D. WALTER SKINNER J. EDGAR HOOVER BUILDING MAY 24th 4:15 P.M. Knock, knock. Skinner knew who was it. "Please come in. Sit down Agents Scully and Mulder." Mulder turned and gave Scully a look as they walked through the door and sat in the two chairs that faced A.D. Skinner's desk. "Sir, may I ask why you called us up here?" Scully asked as Skinner continued to read the report in front of him. "You two were called up here because I am officially closing the current x-file you are working on, numbered 'X-837-747-7275'. Due to unexpected circumstances." Scully spoke up. "What circumstances, sir?" "Your witness in no longer a help to the case. Therefore, with no new evidence, I am closing the file." Skinner said as he looked Mulder straight in the eye. "But?" Mulder started to say. "Is there a part you don't understand, Agent Mulder?" "Yes. Please explain to me, 'unexpected circumstances'?" Mulder asked as he sat straight up in his chair. "The field agent you worked with, Agent Marler, went to question your witness. He was found dead. The autopsy concluded that his death was due to a heart attack and probably had died in his sleep." Skinner said. "So, this guy is dead, and you are closing the file." Mulder stood and knocked off the stack of file folders onto the floor. "How typical! Did he put you up to this? Cancer Man. He's behind this. Am I RIGHT?" Scully pulled at Mulder's arm. "Mulder sit down." "Agent Mulder. Control yourself or I will have to bring up disciplinary charges against you." Skinner stared into Mulder's eyes. "No. I'm not taking it any longer. As soon as we get close enough to the truth, they kill the one person who could help us. First my father, and now this. When is it going to end?" Mulder said as he pounded his fists onto Skinner's desk. "That's it. I have had enough of YOU. Both of you. You two are suspended for three days. Agent Mulder, I would suggest that you use that time to cool off before you get yourself into some serious trouble." "Yes, come on Mulder. It's been a long day. Let's go." Scully said as she tugged more at Mulder's arm. "Listen to Agent Scully, Agent Mulder. The case is closed!" Skinner looked back down at the paper work in front of him. "You two are dismissed! I don't want see you two for three days." Before Mulder could say anything more. "Let's go." Scully said with a stern look on her face as she grabbed his arm and walked out of Skinner's office. THE BASEMENT J. EDGAR HOOVER BUILDING 4:44 P.M. Mulder walked into their office after Scully and slammed to door with enough force to rattle the contents of the filing cabinet beside the door. If there was glass in the door, it surely would have shattered. "Mulder, there's no point staying here when you are like this. I'm taking you to a movie to relax and maybe dinner. My treat." "Can I pick the movie?" Mulder asked as he started to relax. "Sure. Nothing pornographic. It has to be good." "Damn, there goes that idea. Scully, did anyone ever tell you that you are a real stick in the mud?" Mulder asked as he stuffed some files into his brief case. "Yes. You have...several times." Scully smiled and grabbed her laptop. "Ready?" "Yes, master." Mulder got down on his knees and crouched down at Scully's feet. "Get up fool. So where are we going?" Mulder looked up and gave her the 'smile.' Scully groaned. SCULLY'S APARTMENT ANNAPOLIS, MARYLAND 6:55 P.M. Scully looked out her window to see Mulder walking up the steps. She turned and panned her living room. Spotless as usual but she always double checked. Scully had changed into a long green cotton dress with a cream sweater. She slipped a head band on to hold her hair back and a pair of her favourite sandals. Mulder knocked at the door. He had put on his favourite pair of black jeans, a jean shirt and boots. His leather jacket was folded over his left arm. "Who is it?" Scully asked as she stood in front of the mirror in her bathroom. "Your Prince Charming. I'm here to take you away to a far off land." "The door's open Mulder." "How did you know it was me?" Mulder asked as he walked over to her bathroom. "Easy. Who else do you know would say 'I'm going to take you to a far off land' to someone who's been abducted." Scully looked at the mirror one last time. "I'm ready. So what movie have you picked out for us to see?" "I was thinking of Twister? Mind you I rather see ID4 or Men In Black. What do you think?" Mulder asked as he helped his partner put on her coat. "I heard that Twister is good and the other two aren't out yet." Scully corrected him as she made sure that she had everything. "Twister is it then. Do you want to walk over? I've already got the tickets." Mulder flashed the tickets in front of her face. "Wait a minute. Going to the movies was my idea. It was going to be my treat." Scully said as they walked out of her apartment and she locked the door. "How's about I pay for the movie and you pay for dinner afterwards?" Mulder asked as he gave her the 'smile'. It was the smile that meant that Mulder had other things on his mind other then dinner and a movie. She had seen it given to Detective White and Dr. Bambi. "Oh yeah before I forget, this is for you." It was a single red rose. Scully was surprised by the gesture. "I'm speechless." She leaned in to him to give him a kiss on his cheek but Mulder turned his head and their lips met instead. Mulder said as he pulled away. "Let's save that for later." Scully blushed. THE ANNAPOLIS CINEMAS ANNAPOLIS, MARYLAND 9:30 P.M. As Scully and Mulder walked out of the theatre, it was obvious to Scully that Mulder was a little shaken up. "So Mulder, have you recovered yet?" As she slugged him in the ribs. Mulder glared at her. He didn't know that the effects were that realistic. Mulder had offered for Scully to hold his hand during the scenes where Jo and her friends rescue the dog but she had nothing to do with it. It was Mulder that needed most of the support. He was spooked when Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton's characters where first chasing the tornado and they were forced to take shelter from the tornado under the bridge. As they walked out of the theatre and down the side walk back toward Scully's, they were shocked when they were blanketed in darkness. Scully turned back to the movie theatre to notice that it was in complete darkness. "Great no power? Well this day sure sucks. I could really go for a hot bubble bath right about now." "How interesting?" Mulder said in his best 'Mad scientist' impression. "Can I come?" Scully glared at him. "What? Someone has to make sure that Eugene Victor Tooms isn't hiding in your bathroom." Scully responded by lifting her left eye brow. "You do have a point there." Most of the other movie goers were filing out of the theatre in a near chaos state. Mulder grabbed her hand and pulled her aside as the group rushed passed them. They stood against the wall of the theatre. As Mulder held her close, Scully looked up into his eyes. "Come on. Let's go." Scully pulled away and took his hand in hers as they started walking back to her apartment. SCULLY'S APARTMENT 10:13 P.M. Just as they walked onto Scully's street, the clouds opened up and pelted them with water. They were soaked to the bone by the time they reached Scully's building. "Man, this dress is ruined." Scully said as she tried to ring out her dress before going into the building. Scully's new dress had clung to her slender body as they tried to get out of the rain. Mulder noticed his partner's appearance and smiled. "I think you look great." Mulder's jacket was complete ruined more then her dress because it was leather. "If anything we're wearing is ruined, it's my jacket." "Yeah your right." Scully smiled as he followed Scully to her apartment. "Let's get out of these wet clothes." "Dana Scully, are you coming on to me?" Scully glared at him and nailed her fist into his ribs. "No, I...I...I just don't want us to catch a cold, that's all. You can use the dryers in the basement to dry your clothes." Scully broke the silence by lighting several candles around her apartment. "I can order a pizza." Mulder smiled as he watched Scully wander around her apartment. "These look familiar." Mulder asked. "Where have I seen them before?" "They belonged to Melissa. Remember you helped me and my mother pack up her things." Scully paused as a single tear ran down her cheek. "I haven't had the chance to use them. This one is my favourite." Pointing to a tall, purple one. "Its lavender. My favourite scent." "Mine too." Mulder blurted out before he could stop himself. "What did you just say?" Scully asked as she lit various candle around her apartment. "Lavender. It's my favourite scent." Right after you, Scully, he thought. "Samantha used to love the smell of lavender. She often picked it and put it in her hair. Scully smiled. She knew that it took a lot for Mulder to talk about Samantha. The few memories he had of her were very cherished and to talk about her so freely often took a lot out of him. "Mulder, if you want to change. I think there are clothes of yours in my closet. You can take a shower first." Scully asked as she put the lavender candle in a saucer and left it in on her bathroom counter. "Thanks I will." He stopped dead in his tracks and turned back to Scully. "Wait a minute, there are some of my clothes in your closet? How did they get there? No, never mind." Mulder cracked a smile at Scully then walked into the bathroom and shut the door. "Oh yeah, no spicy sausage on the pizza if it's possible." "You're no fun, Mulder!" Scully protested as she dug out her cellular phone and punched in the number for the local pizza place. As she heard him undress, the little voice in the back of her mind said to go join him. Her heart said the same thing. Her mind said no, Mulder was her partner and best friend. She wasn't going to cross that line...at least not yet. Scully walked into her bedroom and started to changed into warm clothes when she noticed that Mulder never grabbed the dry clothes. What a fool, she thought. Or was he? Without even knocking, Scully walked into her bathroom. When Mulder heard the door open, he jumped. "Scully!" Mulder's screamed out. "Oh sorry. Here's the clothes and a towel." Scully blushed as she could just make out the outline of Mulder body through the shower curtain. Mulder smiled. He knew in his heart that he couldn't be mad at Scully. Not even after she shot him in the shoulder. "You know I'm not mad at you." Mulder gave her a smile as she blushed. "Just remember to knock next time." "Oh I will." Scully shut the door behind her as she left. ~ 10:45 P.M. ~ Scully went back to her bedroom and dug out a old tape player that was battery operated. Scully found a local station that was playing romantic music. Shania Twain's "No One Needs To Know" was currently playing on the radio: I met a tall, dark and hansome man And I've been busy makin' big plans But no one needs to know right now I got my heart set, my feet wet And he don't even know yet But no one needs to know right now As Mulder dried himself off after his shower, he could hear the most beautiful voice singing. He walked over and tried the light switch to see if Scully had put on a CD or the radio, but there was no power. Mulder dressed quickly and went in search of where the music was coming from. We'll have a little girl a little boy A little Benji we call Leroy But no one needs to know right now And I'm not lonely anymore at night And he don't know only only he can make it right As Scully combed out her hair as she sang along. Her back was to Mulder as he stood in the bedroom doorway, watching her in amazement. Scully stopped dead in her tracks when she noticed his reflection in her mirror. "No keep going. Please don't stop. You have a wonderful voice." Mulder smiled as they stared deeply into each other's eyes. "Thank you Mulder." Her face had turned two shade of red when she spotted him. A knock at the door, gave Scully some relief from the situation. "Who is it?" Scully called out as she walked toward the door. "Spooky Pizza." The delivery boy replied. "Just a second." Scully said as she dug out a twenty from her wallet and passed it to him after he handed her the pizza. "Keep the change." "Thanks lady." The teenaged boy said as Scully shut the door. Mulder got the plates as Scully paid for the pizza. "Spooky Pizza, eh? I'd never thought you would order pizza from them, Scully. You know, it must remind you a lot of..." "Of what? You?" Scully asked as she looked into his brown eyes. "No. Work." Mulder said with a smile. He hoped it was because of him. "How did you find out about them?" "Actually, Melissa told me about them. We both love their pizza. I just hope they got the order right." Scully opened the pizza box up and smiled. "Scully, what is that stuff?" Mulder pointed to the dark objects on the pizza. "The ground beef." Scully said as she grabbed a slice. "What exactly is on this pizza?" asked Mulder when he picked up a slice. "Ground beef, sausage, mushrooms, garlic and spicy pizza sauce." Mulder let out a moan. ~ 11:01 P.M. ~ "Do you want to play come cards or something?" Scully asked as she walked and sat down on her couch. She had just put pizza box and their plates in the kitchen. "Sure. Like what?" "Gin Rummy? Or would you like to play a board game. There's a few in the closet." Scully pointed to the closet. Mulder walked over and dug out Scrabble. "How about this?" Scully looked at him. "Sure. Do you want something to drink with that?" Scully got up and walked over to her refrigerator. "There's peach juice, stuff to make margaritas, and wine. What do you want?" "We could start with wine and when the power comes on, how's about my world famous margaritas?" Mulder asked as he stretched out on her floor. Scully grabbed the bottle and coffee mugs. "Sorry, I can't find my wine glasses. I hope these will do." As she sat down beside him on the floor. " Aren't these are the Batman mugs that McDonald's put out?" Mulder asked as he picked up the two frosted mugs. "Yeah. I have all four." "Ooo, Batman and Robin. Are you suggesting something, Scully?" Mulder asked as he poured wine into the two mugs. He handed the Robin mug to Scully. "Are you?" Scully said as she grabbed a handful off letters out of the bag. An 3 O's, and one T, M, Y, B, and a L. She rearranged the words to her liking. "Mulder, you can go first?" Mulder nodded. "Remember, no names and with eight letters, you should have a great choice." Mulder figured out his could spell with the letters he had. Mulder laid down "S-Y-Z-Y-G-Y," starting to the left of the star. "That's fifty points. Try and beat that, Dr. Scully." "Okay." Scully reached over and laid down each one of the pieces. "L-O-B-O-T-O-M-Y. How's that for a word." Vertically so that the 'y' in lobotomy ended with the 'y' from syzygy. Mulder's jaw hit the floor. He couldn't believe she had used all of her letters. "That's fifteen points plus a 'double letter' and a 'triple word'. That's if I'm correct, FORTY-EIGHT POINTS!" "No way you cheated!" Mulder protested as he wrote down the points on a piece of paper. "Wait a minute, I forgot to add an extra fifty points for using all my letters!! That's-" Mulder cut her off, "NINETY-EIGHT POINTS!" "And you point is, Mulder?" Scully asked as she drank all the wine in her glass. Mulder shook his head as he picked out more letters. He spent a minute looking at what he had. Mulder looked at the board then at Scully and smiled. He laid down "W-H-A-M-M-Y" using the last 'y' in syzygy. ~ 11:31 P.M. ~ Scully counted out the points. "That's twenty-four points. It that the best you can do, Agent Mulder?" Scully looked back at the board and then at her own tiles. With an evil smile on her face, she spelt out, "A-U-T-O-P-S-Y". "Five plus a triple letter score of nine is fourteen. Gee Scully, you seem to be losing your touch." Scully dug out some more letters as Mulder placed the tiles on the board. "S-C-E-P-T-I-C, that explains you, Scully." "Very mature, Mulder. Only twenty points. Surely you can do better then that." Scully smiled as she counted out the tiles she needed for her word. "If sceptic fits me, then will keep you under control." Scully laid her tiles down using the 't' in sceptic, B-O-B-B-I-T. Making sure that the two B's were flipped over to show that they were blanks instead of two U's. "That's ten points." She said as she prayed that he wouldn't notice that there were four blank tiles being used when there was only two official ones. Scully had to admit that she was really whipping him at the game. Scully had 251 points and Mulder had only 126 points. "Here's my final word." Mulder spelt out P-A-I-N using the 'i' in Bobbit. "Pain!" They both laughed. ~ 11:45 P.M. ~ Just then the power kicked on. "And of the first day, God said, let there be light. It's a good thing, we're out of wine." Mulder said with a laugh as he waved the empty bottle in Scully's face. He stood up and started walking to her kitchen, "So Scully, are you still up for my famous margaritas?" "Sure. As long as they are better then the punch you made for the Bureau's Christmas party. That stuff was really bad. I heard that some of the lab techs from Chemical Analysis tried to figure exactly what was in it. They told me that after running every test in the book I should label that brew as an x-file." Mulder grabbed a few ice cubes from the freezer and kept them hidden as he walked toward to where Scully was sitting on the floor. "You know that what you said wasn't very fair. I want you apologize to me." Scully sat up on her knees with her hands on Mulder's feet. "How will you every forgive me, Master?" Mulder looked at her, this is too easy, he thought. Way too easy. "Well, I'll go make the margaritas and when I'm finished, I'll have your punishment all thought up." He grabbed the back of her shirt and dropped the ice cubes down. "Hey!" Scully screamed as she wiggled to get the ice cubes free. "That's no fair." ~ 12:01 A.M. ~ Scully stood up and walked over to the window. "Uh Mulder. Did you roll down one of the windows in your car on you way over here?" "Yeah. Why do you ask?" Mulder said as he poured some ingredients into Scully's blender. "It's just that you may want to come see this." Scully pointed down at the car. Mulder looked down. "Oh shit!" He handed Scully what he was holding and rushed out of her apartment. It was raining fairly hard. As soon as the door closed, Scully burst out laughing. It wasn't Mulder's car. His was parked across the street under an maple tree. The car actually belonged to a pizza delivery company. She looked out the window in time to see Mulder rush out into the rain toward the car. Mulder was standing beside the car, dripping wet, and he looked up at Scully's apartment. Scully noticed that he muttered a few words at her and dashed up the stairs in front of her building. Scully raced toward her apartment door but she tripped on the Scrabble board and fell flat on her face. As she lifted her head, Mulder walked in. "DANA KATHERINE SCULLY...YOU ARE PURE EVIL." Mulder screamed at her as she tried to stand up. Her head was really spinning. "Mulder I didn't know. I really thought that it was your car, honest." Scully said as she walked to the hall closet to grab a clean towel for him. "I guess it's okay but this incident will only worsen you punishment." Mulder wrapped the towel around his shoulders and walked back into the kitchen to finish the margaritas. "I can agree with that. It seems fair." Scully reached up and felt her forehead. "Shit!" There was blood running down the right side of her face and on her fingers. Mulder spun around. "What?" Nearly dropping the bottle of margarita mix. "It's nothing. When I fell, I must have hit my head harder then I thought on the floor. It's nothing a band-aid won't fix." Scully said as she walked into her bathroom in search of a band-aid. She washed off her face. "Damn this hurts." She muttered to herself as she applied some gauze and some medical tape. Of all times to run out of band-aids, she though. Her head was really beginning to pound. "The margaritas are ready, Scully." Mulder yelled from her kitchen. "Are they any good?" Scully asked as she appeared from the bathroom and walked into her kitchen. "Here try one." Mulder passed her a beer mug full of a peach coloured mixture. "I hope you don't mind. I couldn't find any margarita glasses." "No, it's okay." Scully took a sip as she laid down on her couch. "This way I won't have to make as many trips to the kitchen." She said with a smile as she flicked on her television using her remote. "Hey go back to those sports scores. I want to see if I won any money one them." Mulder said as he stood near her and read out the sport scores. "Yes! Frohike owes me some serious money, so does Agent Max Cuddingham from upstairs." Scully tried not to laugh. She didn't know if it was her head pounding, the wine or the margarita that was making her feel worse. "Hey, do you mind. I would like to see if there is anything decent on. I wonder if Leno has anyone good on." Scully surfed over to N.B.C. where Leno was in the middle of his monologue. "Nope." "Scully, you watch Leno? I thought for sure that you liked Letterman better." Mulder said as he sat down on the end of her couch. Scully straightened her legs out and laid them on his lap. "I don't mind Letterman sometimes, but he always seems to have Kathie Lee Gifford on. I can't stand her. I can remember watching it one time. There was an actress on, I don't remember her name, but Kathie Lee was there. Every time Letterman asked the actress a question, Kathie Lee answered it. Why in the world, Kathie Lee was there in the first place is beyond me. I would have killed Kathie Lee if I was on Letterman and she was there." Scully surfed over to Letterman. They were showing pets doing tricks. "Hey Mulder, maybe you should pay attention to this, you may learn something about sitting still, especially when we're in Skinner's office. "Ha, ha, ha. Very funny Scully." Mulder said as he drank more of the margarita down. "This isn't half bad." "I would have to agree with you, Mulder. It's not as good as the ones you can get at that bar near Headquarters, but it's close." Scully said as she drank more of the stuff. The rain broke their silence. It was pelting her windows. Mulder looked over at the windows. "Looks like we're up for one hell of a storm." "Great. I love listening to rain. It's so peaceful." Scully said as she finished off her margarita. Scully swung her legs off of Mulder's lap and tried to stand. She got to her feet but fell back on to couch. "Looks like you're having a hard time, Scully." Scully shot him a glare. "Hey while you're up do you want to fill up my glass too?" "No. You have two logs, err legs, Mudler." Scully's speech was beginning to slur. She drunker then she thought. At least her head wasn't bothering her any more. "Wait, I mean Muldrate." Scully finally got to her feet and she slowly moved toward the kitchen. She got one hell of a head rush as she finally stood up properly. "Sully, you are really, really, really drunk. But not as much as me!" Mulder said as he stood and followed her into the kitchen. He had been tasting the margaritas as he made them. Scully was leaning against the counter trying to pour more into her glass but with no luck. "Forget this." Scully dropped her mug into her sink and she grabbed the blender container and a spoon. As the walked back to her couch, Scully walked relatively in a straight line while Mulder had to get down on his hands and knees and crawled. Scully crashed back on the couch while Mulder laid down in front of the couch. "Hey, do you want some?" Scully swung her left leg over and hit Mulder in his chest area. "Ooooooooouch. That hurt Sully." Mulder said as he wrapped his arms where she brushed against his chest with her heals. "Sorry". Scully shifted on the couch and leaned down. "Do you want me to kiss it and make it all better?" Mulder nodded. She passed him the blender container. Mulder shifted to lay on his back and lifted up his sweat shirt. He pointed to where his heart was. "This is where it hurts." "Okie-dokie, Muldrate." Scully slid off the couch and onto him. "Is this where you pointed to?" Her finger gently pressed into his chest. "Yep." Scully kissed the area tenderly. "There's one more place." Mulder held up his hand waving his index finger. "Where?" Mulder pointed to his chin. "When you hit me, I banged my chin on your floor. Kiss it and make it better. Pease." Scully looked into his eyes and smiled. She squirmed along his body some more. So that they were looking deeply into each other's eyes. "Right here?" Scully's index finger pressed onto his lips. Mulder nodded. Scully kissed him with as much passion as she could muster. She pulled away and shifted her legs so that they were on either side of his chest on the floor. Scully looked back onto his eyes and muttered into his ear. "Clap your hands in the air?" Mulder looked at her then clapped his hands. All the lights went out along with the television. "Very cool Diana." As he placed a loose strand of her red hair behind her left ear. "Thank you, Skunk. I thought you would like it." Scully giggled and kissed him again. "Do you want to play another game?" Mulder asked between kisses. Scully looked into his eyes. "Like what, Doctor?" They both laughed. "Actually I was thinking more along the lines of Truth or Dare?" Mulder said as he gently rolled Scully off of him. Scully sat up and clapped her hands. Nothing came on. "Looks like the power's out again." The rain was coming down even harder then before and it was beginning to thunder. "I'll go first." Mulder said as he leaned against the couch beside Scully. "Truth or dare?" Scully asked. "Truth." Scully was silent for a moment while she though about the perfect question to ask. "If you were stuck on an island with only one other person and you had to choose between me, Phoebe, Dr. Bambi and Detective. White who would you choose? And why?" Mulder looked at her. "I would choose none of you. Phoebe wasn't all that great in bed. Bambi was too full of herself. Detective. White was a tramp. Did you know that she slept with half the guys in that town?" "What about me? Why didn't you pick me?" Scully protested. "Sully, I didn't pick you because if we were stuck on an island, it would ruin out friendship. I would hate myself if something like that happened. Mind you if we were the last two people on the planet, that would be another story. The truth is that I'd really rather have the Professor from Gilligan's Island." When Mulder was finished, he thought to himself, damn good answer Fox, especially considering how drunk he was. Scully shoved him when she heard that response. "It's my turn." "Truth or dare?" "I'm going to try dare." Scully said as she had some more of the margarita. "Dare. This will be interesting." Mulder paused as he thought about for a moment and then turned to the red-head. "You have to strip in front of me. Like Demi Moore in Striptease." Scully looked at him and then tried to stand. No luck. She then sat up on her knees in front of Mulder. "If this gets out, you are a dead man. This time when I shoot you , I'll aim much lower." Mulder's face when white. He knew exactly where she meant. Mulder stretched out his long legs and got comfortable to watch his partner and best friend make a fool out of herself. If only he had a camera, he thought. Scully undid half of the buttons of her shirt as she moved so that she was sitting on Mulder's thighs, pinning him down. "Muldrate, can you help me with the rest?" Mulder looked into her eyes as undid the buttons. Scully took his face in her hands and kissed him passionately on the lips and then on the neck. Mulder let out a groan. As his heart skipped a beat. It was something about her touch that made him feel warm all over. He yanked open her shirt as Scully worked herself off of his lap. Their lips and eyes never parted for a second. Scully worked her blouse off and his shirt too. Mulder laid Scully down on her back and started to kiss her shoulders tenderly. They were going to go further when a large clap of thunder separated them. Mulder jumped back with a look on his face like he had just been caught by Scully's parents. "Maybe we shouldn't do this?" Scully said as she pulled her shirt back on. "No maybe we should." Mulder said as he pulled Scully close again. "I think it's a sign from above." Scully's head was really pounding again. "I'm going to bed. You can stay on the couch." Scully stood and walked to her kitchen with blender container in her hand. MAY 25TH 2:13 A.M. Scully wasn't asleep in her bed more then thirty minutes when she felt someone crawl into the other side of the bed. Her eyes flew open and she turned over to face the intruder. "Mulder, I don't remember letting you sleep here with me." "You didn't. Your couch is too short and your floor is too hard. Don't worry, I'll stay on my side of the bed, Ms. err Dr. Scully." Scully smiled and then turned back over onto her side and closed her eyes. ~ 10:56 A.M. ~ Mulder was woken to the sound of Scully's phone ringing. He opened his eyes and to his surprise he was in Scully's bed. He rubbed his eyes again hoping that it wasn't all a dream. Mulder was laying on his back and Scully was snuggled up beside him. Her arms were wrapped around his bare abdomen. They still had their clothes on so he knew nothing happened. He reached over and picked up the phone. "Hello?" It was one of Scully's brothers. "Who is this and where is Dana Scully?" The voice demanded. "Dana is fine. Whom am I talking to?" "This is William Scully Jr. Her brother. Who are you?" Bill asked. "I am Fox Mulder. I work with your sister at the Bureau." Mulder spoke into the phone as he tried to hide the fact that he was hung over. "Is Dana there. I need to talk to her, it's very important." Bill demanded. "Yeah, just one minute." Mulder put the phone down. He leaned over and spoke into Scully's ear. "Dana, honey. One of your brothers is on the phone." "What?" Scully's eyes shot open. "What did you just say?" "Here." Mulder handed her the phone and slipped out of bed. He thought that he should give her some privacy. "Scully." Dana said as she rubbed her eyes. "Dana! Why did he answer your phone? Is something wrong?" Bill barked at her. "Bill calm your jets. Nothing's wrong. It's all a long story. Why are you phoning? Is something wrong with Ruth?" Dana asked. She knew that they only time Bill called was for family reasons. The last time he called was because Ruth, his wife had just given birth to Conner O'Mally Scully. Scully's one and only nephew. "I'm calling to say that we're in town and we're wondering if we could stop over for a visit?" Bill asked as the temper in his voice faded. "Yeah, that's no problem." Scully looked over at her clock radio. Eleven a.m. "How about you guys come over in an hour for lunch?" "Sure. You still live in Annapolis?" Bill asked. "Yeah. Same place as always." Scully responded as she got out of bed. Her head was really pounding. "I'll see you in an hour. Bye Bill." She returned the phone to it's receiver and walked out towards her kitchen. Mulder was making some coffee and toast. "Scully, does you head pound as much as mine?" "Yeah. There's a slight problem. My brother is coming over with his family in less then an hour for lunch. He hinted that he wants to meet you." Scully told him as she buttered a piece of toast. "Why does this make me nervous?" Mulder said. Scully walked over her refrigerator. "I have to get some groceries. Want to come with me?" Scully asked as she munched on her toast. "Sure." Mulder poured two cups of coffee and passed one to Scully. "I should warn you that it's a little strong." Scully took a slip and scrunched up her face. "Just a little. I'm going to have a quick shower, can you clean up the living room for me?" Mulder smiled. He had other things on his mind. ~ 4:13 P.M. ~ Scully was beaming. She loved seeing her little nephew. Conner was nearly one. He had Bill's dark red hair and Ruth's curls. Mulder couldn't believe it when Scully was holding Conner, they looked like mother and son. Ruth had teased her about Mulder and when were going to have some of their own. Bill had taken Mulder aside and given him an ear full about being good to his sister, if not, Bill wouldn't be so nice. Bill and Ruth had asked Scully and Mulder about everything from when they first met to the first time they acted like partners to their feelings after Scully shot him. Scully was pleased that Mulder hadn't mentioned the incident involving the mosquito bits on Scully's back. The real shocker came when Bill blurted out about when Mulder was going to get his act together, marry his sister and get her into the family way. Mulder's jaw hit the floor as Scully wished she had her gun in her hand. Scully and Mulder crashed on couch after they left. As much as she loved her family, dealing with them with a hangover was not very fun at all. Scully's head was pounding and Mulder tried to hide the fact that he was a little green around the gills. The sight of food didn't help either of them with their hangover. Mulder finally broke the silence. "Scully, I would have to say that this was one hell of a first date. We went to a movie, got drunk, slept together and had our wedding nearly planned out by your brother and his wife. Not bad for a first date." Mulder said with a chuckle. "How are we ever going to top this?" Scully asked. "I don't know, but if there's a will there's a way. Besides we're on suspension for two more days." They looked at each other and laughed until their heads pounded. Mulder stood. "Well have to do this again. I had fun." Scully looked at him. "Yeah, next time. I'm going to make the drinks." Scully let out a giggle. Mulder turned and kissed her on the forehead. "Good-bye Dana." He was out of the door before she could respond. Scully walked to her window. "Good-bye Fox." She whispered as she watched him get into his car and drive away.
