I am everything you want
I am everything you need
I am everything inside of you
That you wish you could be
I say all the right things
At exactly the right time
But I mean nothing to you and I don't know why

"Damn it, Mulder, stop cheating."

"I'm not cheating, I'm a natural."

"You are cheating. I can't prove it, but I know you are."

Scully reached out and swatted at Mulder's face. He moved out of her
reach with ease and continued to diligently shuffle the cards. He knew that
if
he looked at her he would start laughing again and she would get the jump
on him, literally. She was frowning at him, while at the same time smiling
at him with her eyes. She knew exactly what he was thinking.

"Hey, Mulder."

"Yeah?"

"Look at me."

"No way. Last thing I need today is a trip to the emergency room with a
deck of cards shoved down my throat."

"Who said anything about the emergency room? I was thinking more along
the lines of the morgue."

"Ouch, Scully, you wound me. Do you want to play again?"

"Are you going to cheat?"

"I wasn't cheating."

He chose that moment to look up at her and caught her hand directly across
the face. His look of shock was quickly replaced by a devious grin as he
placed the cards on the couch behind him and leapt over the coffee table.

"I'm going to get you for that, Scully."

"Oh shit, Mulder, wait..."

She tried to move out of the way, but he was too quick for her. He tackled
her full on, knocking her back to the floor. He landed on top of her,
pinning her to the carpet with his upper body. He held her arms to her side
with his elbows and started to mercilessly tickle her ribs.

"Stop squirming, Scully, or this is only going to get worse."

Scully tried to get her ribs away from his hands, to find a way to get out
from under him, but his superior weight was working against her. She tried
to get her feet under her knees, to get enough leverage to buck him off.
Having attended the same self-defense training as her, Mulder was able to
anticipate her every attempt to free herself and counter it.

"You are not getting out of this that easily, Scully. Now, do you want me
to stop?"

Scully nodded her head in the affirmative. Mulder released her arms, having
stopped assaulting her ribs, but made no move to get up. He shifted his
weight, placing most of it on his arms and off of Scully. He was ready for
her to start struggling, for her to try and return the favor he had given
her.

"Mulder, this is twice today we've ended up on the floor. What is it with
you and gravity? And get off of me."

"If you insist. But first, answer me this, do you still think I'm cheating?"

"Now? Or before?"

"Both."

"Then yes, I do. Now get up."

Mulder shifted his weight again, preparing to get up.

"Scully, just one thing."

Before she could answer he leaned down and kissed her full on the lips. He
then jumped to his feet and returned to his place on the floor in front of
the couch. Once seated he picked up the cards and began to shuffle them
again. Scully continued to lie on the floor where he had left her, a look
of amazement on her face.

"Hey, Scully, I'm waiting on you."

"Okay, hold on."

She sat up and returned to her spot in front of the coffee table. She
smoothed down her shirt, which had ridden up during the tussle on the
floor, and tried to regain some of her composure. Mulder began dealing the
cards, snickering to himself.

"Check your cards, Scully. Wouldn't want to you to think I'm cheating."

"Okay, they're all there. Are you ready to get your ass kicked?"

"You wish."

They both turned over the base card in front of them. The game lasted only
a short time, during which there was a large amount of cursing and more
than one bruised knuckle.

"Speed."

"See, I knew you were cheating. Don't even think I'm going to let you win,
Mulder."

Scully quickly looked over the cards in her hand, hoping for one that she
could play. No useable card showed itself. Both she and Mulder reached over
to their respective save pile and flipped the top card over. Scully saw the
card that she had been looking for and moved in for the kill. Mulder,
however, needed the same card and was quicker. He slapped his card down and
raised his hands in triumph.

"Haha, that's fifteen games to your seven. Still glad you taught me this
game, Scully?"

"I'm definitely having second and third thoughts about it. How many
games total does that make?"

"In the last three days?"

"Yes."

"Let me think. You've won forty-two games and I've won forty-five
games."

"Shit, we've played eighty-seven games?"

"Yup. I never did ask you, where did you learn this evil obsession?"

"I learned it in med school. My roommate taught it to me. I think we
played for two days straight, neither of us sleeping or studying."

"Must have made class fun."

"Yeah, it did. But at least neither of us slept through anything."

"That's not fair, Scully. This isn't my house, it's yours. Why didn't
you set the alarm?"

"Mulder, I did set the alarm."

"Oops."

"Enough chit-chat. You ready to get your ass kicked?"

"Yeah, but hold on."

Mulder stood up and walked past Scully, headed towards the bathroom. She
followed him with her eyes, chuckling to herself.

"Hey, don't let the door hit ya..."

Before she could complete her sentence he had her by the shoulders,
pulling her to her feet.

"That was not my fault. If you had just given me the towel I wouldn't
have this knot on my head. Now, are you going to be nice, or do I need to
punish you again."

"Is that a threat?"

"No, Agent Scully, it's a promise."

"Yeah, right."

Mulder thought for a moment, trying to decide if he was prepared to
follow through with what he was about to do.

"Ah, what the heck..."

He grabbed Scully around the waist and hoisted her over his shoulder.
Once he had her situated as best he could, he patted her on the butt.

"Okay, Agent Scully, you asked for it."

The End? Not by a long shot.

Author's Notes: I know, I keep leaving everyone hanging. It will get
finished, I promise.

"I've stood here before
Inside the pouring rain.
With the world turning circles
Running 'round my brain."
