Disclaimer: M&S are not mine, blah-blah...And, the song "For You" is by Kenny Lahtimore Feedback: Please!!!!! Authors note: This one's for all the pinoy xphiles out there!!! -------------------------------------------------------------- It was a Saturday, Mulder and Scully decided to spend the day in a park, just holding hands, saying sweet nothings to each other, and basically cherish the love they share. They're lovers now, officially. Scully was reassigned to teach in Quantico and Mulder gets to still work in the Bureau. As they walk hand in hand, eyes locked, a man from the bushes watches closely. Tall, also a looker dressed in dark clothes and wearing a black baseball cap. the man thinks. He watches Scully from a distance. Just then, Mulder leans over to give Scully a loving kiss. The man's anger quickly rose. Just then, his thoughts were interrupted when a woman behind him called his name. "Mr. Krevitz? Is that you?" the woman asked. Startled, the man looked at the woman who was now smiling. "Oh, hi Mrs. Spellman," was all he could say. "I knew it was you Mr. Krevitz. How do you do?" "Fine. I have to go." With that, he turned his back on the woman and gave Mulder & Scully another glance. He saw Scully smile with so much joy and love elucidating from her beautiful face. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Monday Scully's Apartment The phone rang. Once. Twice. Scully opened one eye then glanced at the digital clock on her bed-side table. 3:09 am. "he-hello?" Scully said sheepishly. "Hi baby...did I wake you?" Mulder said lovingly from the other end of the line. "No, I'm just talking in my sleep." Scully can hear the smile in Mulder's voice. "It's three in the morning. Where are you Mulder?" she asked, slightly annoyed. "In my hotel room, here in Virginia. How was your day? I missed you." Scully could hear the love and warmth in his voice. "Aww, that's sweet, Mulder, really sweet, disturbing my oh-so-peaceful sleep just to ask how my day as. My day went fine. But, what happened to your informant?" Scully asked smiling. "He had something useful, told me about it, but not that helpful. I'm leaving first thing tomorrow. I miss you so much Scully." With these words, Scully had to sigh and smile over the phone. "I miss you too Mulder, but really, why *did* you call?" "I just wanted to know how you're doing." Mulder replied. "Wait, you call me at three in the morning just to know how I was doing?" "And to tell you I love you Scully." Scully put her hand on her chest and felt the rapid beat of her heart. She loved this man so much. "I love you too, Mulder." "Hey, baby, go back to sleep now." "Okay. You get yourself some sleep too. Oh, and honey, I love you," She said. "Night night. Oh, and Scully, you just called me honey." Then came the dial tone. Scully laughed a little. It's been almost a year since they finally admitted their feelings for each other. Mulder loved to use his term of endearment: baby. But Scully just won't get herself to say those oh-so-mushy-thingies. She'd somehow believe that "Mulder" and "Scully" have grown to become their own terms of endearment in their own right. Just how often do you get one happy couple who call each other by their last names? She was about to get herself back to sleep again when she felt a sudden tinge on her stomach. Lately, she's been feeling dizzy a lot, and throws up at some occasions. She thought it was just something not serious. But Mulder, of course, insisted that she go see her docs just to make sure. And she did. Only, now she's got something much more serious to tell Mulder. And she didn't want to tell him over the phone. She was going to tell him in person. --------------------------------------------------------------- Wednesday Scully's Apartment 7:10 pm Scully was seated in her couch, reading a novel she just bought the day before. "Mulder, can you hand me that glass of orange juice, please." She said without taking her eyes off the book. Mulder was just staring at her, admiring her beauty. As he handed her the glass, he said, "You know, Scully, if I keep on telling myself I probably did something good to deserve you for the next few hours, I might actually believe myself." Scully smiled and responded, "Hmmmm...is it me Mulder, or have I just heard that line for like the nth time already?" Then with a smile, she says to him, "Mulder, telling yourself something like *that* isn't actually a necessity, you know. I mean, what's the point? You have me, and that's what matters. And, oh, to finally end those series of questions in that inquisitive mind of yours Agent Mulder, you have done so many good things in your entire life that sometimes I'm the one who's wondering why I could possibly deserve you." With those words, Mulder just had to give her one passionate kiss. They were startled when the phone rang. "Hellow." Mulder said, a bit annoyed. "Yeah, she's here. May I know who's on the line?" "Who? Jerry Krevitz?" He turned to look at Scully who was shaking her head, a sign that says she doesn't know the guy. "Hold on Mr. Krevitz," Mulder says as he covers the receiver with his hand, then whispers to Scully, "something about a Quantico project" Scully by now, was irritated, having no idea of who the caller is and what he wants. She grabs the phone from Mulder. "Hello, this is Dana Scully...yeah?...Uh-huh. Well, I'm really not aware of that project Mr...Mr. Krevitz,... okay, I'm not aware of that project *Jerry*. Why don't you try to call the head office. They may be the one to help you...Now's not a good time. Have a good evening Mr. Krevitz...Right, have a good evening *Jerry*." Mulder was smiling inanely at her, asking, "Jerry?" Scully put the phone down and teased, "Yeah, Jealous?" "With a simple phone call? Hell, no! If that guy is any at all interested with my baby, I think he's the one who should be jealous coz I get to have you in person and he has to settle for the phone." "Yeah right! Wha-" Scully was about to ask him something when she felt like throwing up. Mulder followed her into the bathroom and looked so concerned it almost made Scully nervous. "What's wrong, baby?" he asked. Scully cocked her head and Mulder shoved away the lump of hair that sort of covered her face. She smiled, "Must be that Chinese take-out. It didn't taste that well Mulder." "Maybe you should see your doctor tomorrow Scully, you know, just to be sure." "I'm a doctor Mulder and I really think there's anything seriously wrong with me. Trust me, all I need is a Cheesy-bacon-mushroom burger and I'll be fine." "So, you want me to get you a big Cheesy-bacon-mushroom burger---" "And some orange juice plus some big bags of potato chips." "Okay, cheesy-bacon-mushroom burger, orange juice, potato chips -- got it! Are you sure you're okay?" "I'm fine, Mulder." Mulder thought. Mulder hurriedly grabbed his jacket, and Scully called out to him, "Hurry Mulder, we need to talk." "Okay, I'll be back in a flash." As Mulder left to get all those food Scully asked for, Scully lounged herself in her couch. Mulder has just been gone for a few minutes when she heard someone knock. She opened it, "Mulder, wha--" She was surprised to see someone else at her doorway. "I'm sorry, may I help you?" she asked the man in front of her. He had dark blond hair, brown eyes, and stood maybe a few inches smaller than her Mulder. He looked good, but not as good as her Mulder. "Uh, hi, Dana..." he began, "Ms. Scully would be fine for now, mister.." "Oh, I'm Jerry Krevitz, I talked to you on the phone.." "Yeah, like 15 minutes ago. I'm confused..." "I just live uh, a few blocks away from here...I, uh..." "What do you need Mr. Krevitz?" Scully asked half confused and half annoyed. "Um, about the project I was talking about..." "Well, I thought I cleared that up already on the phone." She explained frowning now. "Yeah, but you see, I was wondering if maybe I could explain it to you further. "I'm really sorry but now's not a good time, really. And I've already told you, maybe you can talk to the head office, they can settle this one for you, but not me." "Look, Dana --" "Scully." "Uh, Ms. Scully, you don't seem to understand the project. Its aim is to raise the standards of teaching in Quantico, therefore suggesting a partnership between the teachers. And, since I'll be transferred there on Friday, I was hoping we could be the teaching partners for maybe some of the academic units they have there in Quantico. You, like we're partners?" "I really don't get what you're saying, I mean I understand, but...I mean, you're asking me to join this project by being your partner in teaching? That doesn't make much sense, I mean teachers there teach alone, a single professor in a single class. I didn't think having that partnership system was an option..." "But it is now, and I'm asking you to be my teaching partner." "I'm really sorry, but just to settle this once and for all, I'm really not comfortable having a so-called teaching partner." "What?!" "I'm sorry but I don't think I'm interested, Mr. Krevitz." "You're not interested with working with me?" "No, not you in particular, I'm not comfortable working or teaching with anybody else in Quantico. I'm doing just fine alone. Now, um, Mr. Krevitz, I really need to get some rest, thanks for coming by. I'm sure you could settle this one in the main office. Goodbye." Krevitz just stood there, trying to absorb Scully's words. He couldn't accept the fact that Scully just declined. He couldn't. He wanted Scully now, and he's gonna get her, one way or another. Suddenly, he realized that this was his chance. If he gets her now, he might still be able to run away from that partner of hers, that Mulder. Scully wanted to slam the door shut into his face but she knew it would be impolite. She decided to close the door slowly but Krevitz stopped her from doing so. He was strong and he managed to drug Scully. The next thing she knew, she was inside Krevitz car. --------------------------------------------------------------- Mulder knew the moment he neared Scully's apartment that there was something wrong. The front door was opened. And, then he walked inside. Nothing much changed, nothing at all. But, there was no Scully in sight. His heart beat raced as his thoughts swirled around Scully being abducted again. Then, he heard his phone rang. "Scully?" he said. "Is this Fox Mulder?" "Who the hell are you?" "Well, hello Mulder. Look's like you're not so lucky after all. I've got your girl now, correction, she's my girl now. Mine." "Who the hell are you?!! Where is Scully?! What have you done with her?" "Oh, Dana? It's a pity you call her by her last name you know, it's so unromantic!" "Well, I call her baby you know, my baby. She'll never be yours, who ever the hell you are! Tell me your name, coward!!!" "Oooh, I'm really scared now Agent Mulder. You should have been here Mulder. See the tears rolling down her face, asking -- begging me to let her go...so what? So she can go back to you? No way! Not gonna happen!" "I swear, if you touch even a single strand of her hair, I'm gonna kill you! You hear that? I'm gonna kill you!!!" "Too late Agent Mulder, I did more than touch her hair, I've touched her pretty face, correction, I've pointed my gun on her pretty face and then she begged for her life. She begs for her life and for the life of your unborn child!" "What?!! What the hell are you talking about?!" Mulder was now in tears. Furious, fuming mad. "Oh, poor Mulder, she hasn't told you yet? That's a twist for my game, hahahah!" "Oh, c'mon, tell me what you want!!!" "Agent Mulder, I want you to play my game. I want you to come here, to me and your 'baby', make that babies, and see if you can get her back, alive." "Okay, I'll play your sick little game...tell me who you are, asshole!" "Krevitz. Oh, and Mulder, call me Jerry." ...To be Continued... Title: For You (2/?) Author: Hermione Mulder had no intention of sleeping that night. He stayed awake the whole night even if Krevitz told him he'd call the next morning. He couldn't think straight, his thoughts were on a whirl. "The Gunmen." Mulder headed quickly for the gunmen's place. He almost shot the door down when Frohike wasn't fast enough when unlocking the door. "Dammit Frohike, it's an emergency." "What? What's wrong?" Frohike greeted him as he entered the gunmen's lair. "I need you to look for everything you can find on this guy named Jerry Krevitz. He, uh, he kidnapped Scully." Mulder had to bow his head and cough to suppress his tears. "What?!!" the trio simultaneously gasped. "You heard me, I'll explain everything, just get back to work please. I need to find him, I need to find Scully. I need to find them." Mulder walked back and forth blabbering about his suggestions as the gunmen tried to look for everything they can possibly find. Just then, his cellphone rang. It was already programmed and connected for a quick phone trace. Immediately, the gunmen went to work as Mulder hoped to make the trace a success. "Mulder." He answered quickly. "Where are you Agent Mulder?" "Where is Scully?" "I told you Agent Mulder, to keep her alive, you have to play my game. You have to play by my rules. One wrong move and I'll start slashing her up." "I thought you like her, if you did then you wouldn't hurt her." Mulder's statement sounded more of a plea. "I =used= to like her. I was obsessed. But now, she's getting all cranky and bitchy that I don't think I can tolerate her anymore. She's become more of a stupid hostage than a romance captive. I like her, but not enough for me to have second thoughts of hurting her." "You change your mind pretty often Krevitz? One minute you're obsessed with her, the next you're going to hurt her. What kind of man are you?!" "To quote your own words, 'a sick man', and damn proud of it!" "Asshole! Go to hell!!" "I will, but I wouldn't mind taking your pretty little girlfriend with me, oh, did I mention pregnant?" "No, please! I'll do as you wish. Just don't hurt her. Please." "That's better Agent Mulder! Now, here's what I want you to do. I want you to come to Granger Warehouse at Potterville. Don't bring anyone with you or else I'll slash your girl's tummy open that you'll be seeing your child way too soon." "Granger Warehouse at Potterville. Right. When, what time?" "Tomorrow night at ten. Come alone. If ever you decide for some fellow agent or foolish cop with you, better bring a body bag too." With that, the line went dead. "Got it! Cedroggy Hotel, most probably room 530 uhm, Mulder," Langley started. "What Langley?" Mulder was all jumpy and in a hurry. "That's about only four blocks from here. We'll just go with you. We'll be able to help." Langley finished. "But wait, didn't this guy said you should play by his rules? If he says anything unusual, he might kill Agent Scully, we can't risk that. What's the game Mulder?" Byers queried. "That's just it Byers, he keeps telling me that but so far all I got was an instruction to go to that warehouse. This is probably it. Luring me into saving Scully alone. Pure torture. I have to go guys, I don't have much time and neither does Scully." "We'll just come with you. I'm sure we'll manage to get Agent Scully out without risking her life." Suggested Byers. "Fine. Whatever. All I wanna do right now is get her back." Mulder said as he stormed out of the door. When they arrived at the Cedroggy Hotel, Mulder and Byers rushed to room 530. Langley and Frohike stayed outside the motel, on guard, just in case Krevitz hits it for the run. Mulder kicked the door open, his gun in hand. Byers was half busy pushing away the hotel owner who kept telling that they couldn't do what they were presently doing. Much to his dismay, a single note was on the bed of the room. It was as if note on the seemingly unused room. The note said: Fuming mad, Mulder turned to the hotel owner. "Has anyone checked in to this room?" "No. I told you already! No one is in this room!" Knowing that the man will be of no use for his search, Mulder turned on his heel. Just then Byers called out to him. "Mulder, there's another note. Oh, no, wait, what is this?" Mulder went to look at the paper Byers was holding. It wasn't a note. It was a sonogram. His and Scully's baby. 9 weeks old. He dropped on the bed. His head on his hands. Just then, Langley and Frohike came rushing in. "Mulder, is there something you're not telling us?" Byers asked. "What did we miss?" Frohike and Langley said in unison. Mulder looked up to them with tears threatening to fall. "Scully's pregnant. She's carrying my child." The three men dropped their jaws at Mulder's words. They felt as if Mulder was gonna break down any minute now. After a moment of silence, Frohike spoke up. "What happened Byers? Didn't you find that asshole?" "No, he was probably just using the phone. He knew he'd be traced so he left this note. Together with, uh, the sonogram." "He'll call again," Mulder began, "He said I have to just keep on going. He'll most probably call again, we run a trace, get into the place and there'll be another clue. He'll keep this up till I meet him at Granger." "Uhm, have you told Skinner about this?" Byers asked Mulder. "I'll call him tomorrow morning. I don't see why I should drag him into this. Krevitz doesn't want cops nor agents involved. I can't risk Scully's -- or our baby's life -- I'm gonna have to do as he says." "Then let's hurry back. He'll be calling again and we have to trace it." Mulder stood up from the bed. Wiping his eyes. Frohike touched Mulder's shoulder. He stopped to look at the short man beside him. "You'll find her Mulder. You will." He says. Mulder looked down at his feet then to Frohike, "I have to. God knows I'll never be able to forgive myself if I don't." ...To be Continued... Title: For You (3/?) Author: Hermione -------------------------------------------------------------- The minute they reached the gunmen's lair, the guys scrambled to get all the cords for the trace. As they finished, Mulder's phone rang. For a moment there, everyone went paranoid. How could Krevitz have called the exact second after everyone was done? But being too paranoid about things wouldn't help in finding Scully. They just had to run the trace as fast as they can to get the second clue. "Mulder." He answered. "Fox?" "Mrs. Scully?" Mulder thought. "Fox, is Dana with you? I've been trying to reach her all night. Last time we talked she told me you're probably staying with her for a while. So, where is she?" "Uh, Mrs. Scully," "Maggie. C'mon Fox, you and Dana have been a couple for almost a year, you have the right to be informal by now you know." Scully's mother said with a soft laugh. "Maggie, uh," He thought. Beep. "Oops," Mulder said. "I see," said Maggie, "saved by the call wait." "Look Maggie, this call is really important, I'll just call you back okay. Bye." Mulder didn't even wait for her reply. He quickly changed lines. "Mulder." "What took you so long Mulder?" It was Krevitz. "Scully's mom called. Where is she Krevitz?" Then, Mulder heard him say, "Dana, your mom called for you." Then a laugh. "Krevitz, let me talk to her, I need to know she's okay." "Well, then I guess this has always been a part of every hostage situation right? Knight in shining armor gets to talk to damsel in distress? Hah." There was a pause, then, "Mulder?" It was more of a sob than of a spoken word. "Dana?! Dana, are you okay? I'll come and get you, I promise." Mulder heard her cry, and it broke his heart into a million pieces. He never thought he could hear her speak again, but she spoke with her voice thick with emotion, "I love you. =We= love you. I'm sorry you had to find out this way." "Dana!" "That's enough lover boy!" Came in Krevitz disgusting voice. "Please don't hurt her Krevitz. Please don't" "Are you begging Agent Mulder?" "I'm doing more than begging Krevitz. She's all I have," "Well," Krevitz interrupted, "I don't think that's the case anymore. You have a bundle of joy coming your way, if you're lucky." "Please, I'll do everything you want. Just don't hurt her, don't hurt them." Mulder was now crying. The gunmen knew the trace was completed minutes ago, but they all knew Mulder had to do this. It was the first time they ever saw him cry. They knew damn well why he was crying now. Mulder thought their phone conversation was over. But then he heard Krevitz speak again. "You know, Agent Mulder, I thought pregnant women were supposed to gain weight. It's quite the opposite for Dana here." Then the line went dead. Frohike shouted, "Quick, Dana's with him!" Langley bowed his head, "You may be right but they're at some Malter residence which is an hour away from here." Once again, Mulder felt a glimmer of hope pull away from his senses. He was thinking that if he got to where Krevitz was he would still be there, with Scully. But he was partly wrong. He'll never make it to the place in time. He had to go there, but he knew Scully and Krevitz would no longer be there. He was to open the door when he stepped back and said, "Could you guys play that phone call again. I think I heard something from the background." Langley did as Mulder requested. Just before and when Scully was on the line, a soft sound made its way. It was a very familiar song. Langley turned it up and lowered the volume of Mulder and Scully's voices. And Mulder heard it, For you I'd give a lifetime of stability Anything you want with me Nothing is impossible for you There are no words or ways to show my love Or all the thoughts I'm thinking of "For You." Mulder muttered to himself. "What's that song Mulder?" Frohike queried. "It's For You. Right after Scully and I danced to it, it became her favorite song. She'd play it in her car, and in her office in Quantico. She said it fits both of our feelings for each other." Mulder answered. "How do you suppose," Byers began. "He knows about it. He knows what Scully's favorite song is. Jeez, this guy's been doing research on her." Mulder said in a panicky voice. "How?" The three all asked. Mulder thought back to the night this first Krevitz character first called. He could hear Scully's voice talking, "Hello, this is Dana Scully...yeah?...Uh-huh. Well, I'm really not aware of that project Mr...Mr. Krevitz,... okay, I'm not aware of that project *Jerry*. Why don't you try to call the head office." "Shit! How could I have not thought about that?! He works in Quantico. He's probably a doctor too. That's why he managed to give Scully that sonogram! Look guys, I have to go and get the second clue he got me. Just look over the academy's data base and search for Krevitz. I'm sure you can do that now coz I'm going alone." With that, Mulder walked to leave and closed the door behind him. ...To be Continued... Title: For You (4/?) Author: Hermione -------------------------------------------------------------- As he entered his car, Mulder set his mind on doing one thing and one thing alone. That is, to get to that Malter place as quickly as he can to retrieve the clue. As tired as he was in playing Krevitz' stupid game, he knows he has to go on with this. It's the only thing that keeps Scully alive. Halfway to his destination, a part of him sort of wished that Krevitz' feelings for Scully have not changed. If Krevitz were still in love with Scully, chances of her getting hurt physically would be less. But a part of him says that if that were the case, Scully may be in danger of rape. What if Krevitz force himself on her? No, Mulder thought. That must not happen. Not like this. Not when Scully is weak and carrying their child. Not ever. He pushed all his paranoid and scary thoughts aside. As he looked down, he unknowingly turned his car stereo on. If he didn't control himself he could've ended in an accident with what he heard on the radio. It was though the part where the song ended on the phone call was meant to be continued in the car. Coz this life is no good alone Since we've become one, I made a change And everything I do now makes sense, All roads end, all I do is For You. He smiled as he thought of Scully. She had left the tape in the car. The last time they Scully went with him for a ride, she wanted to hear this song. She even hummed with it, and when her voice was becoming audible for singing along, Mulder glanced her way and had this unreadable grin on his face. Scully blushed that Mulder had to take her hand in his for reassurance. And that's when she laughed. Who ever thought Scully would laugh like that. As he looked into her eyes, he couldn't grasp any words to reason for how much he loved this woman. God, he missed Scully. He missed her so much. And unlike the last time when he went to a case, so sure that he'll be seeing Scully when he got home, this time he had to search for her. He had to work so damn hard just to get her back. His efforts were clouded with fear and guilt. It was difficult but he didn't care. All he cares about is getting Scully back. Heck, he's been thru the ends of the earth to get her, getting her back from some psycho should be a lot easier, wouldn't it? As he pulled over to some old house. He could see that the door was open. There seemed to be nobody inside. He proceeded. He stopped on his tracks when he saw a small shimmer of gold on a sofa. He rushed towards it. His suspicions were true, it was Scully's gold cross necklace. And then, he read the note. To his surprise, it was in Scully's handwriting. As much as Mulder appreciated Scully's penmanship, he knew that Scully was just dictated to do this, something which Scully would never want to do. He grabbed the note, made his way to the car and dialed the gunmen's phone number. As soon as he heard Frohike answer his call, he said, "Frohike, I'm on my way there. Did you find anything?" "We've found your guy Mulder. Jerold Krevitz. You're right he works at Quantico. But he's not a doctor though. He's a medical technician. We've already got a picture printed out." "Med tech?" "Yeah, that's probably the project he's talking about. There's a pairing project open at the Academy. Lab & Med techs could serve as assistants to the teachers. Krevit'z area is covered, but Agent Scully's department is not." "What else? Where does he live? Where could he probably be?" "Well, nothing much is in his records. He lives just a few blocks away from Scully's apartment, and I doubt he'd be there. Langley went there to check it out but the landlord told him that Krevitz has left just two days ago. The place has been cleared." "Any relatives? Childhood memorable places?" "Supposed next of kin is already dead, checked it out already. Right now, Langley's hurrying to break into his psychological records. What did you found Mulder?" "I found Scully's necklace," he explained as he held the necklace which he now wore around his neck. "He's talking in riddles. Something about me giving up the one object I value most and putting it in the place I wouldn't want to go to." "Well, you better think about that hard and fast man. Good luck." Frohike said as he ended the call. As Mulder tried to think of that one object he valued most, he decided to listen to the following parts of the song. It calms him down. For You I'd share this cup of love that overflows And anyone who knows us knows That I would change all faults I have for you There is no low or high or in between At my heart that you haven't seen Coz I'll share all that I have and am Nothing I've said is hard to understand All I feel I feel deeper still And always will, all this love is for you. Then suddenly, he heard Scully's voice in his head. <"Please Mulder, for me? Please?"> <"Scully, I really think I should just keep it buried in that vault. I mean, it's safer there. If it's with me, "> <"If it's with you, she'll be closer. Her presence would be closer. That locket is the one thing that would always remind you of Samantha. And you don't have to worry about it getting lost or anything, "> <"Mulder, that locket is to serve as a reminder of your sister. If you are to put it away in a vault, how can you possibly remember all those good memories that that locket bring?"> <"I don't know Scully."> <"Please Mulder?" Kiss. "For me?" Kiss.> <"Oh, all right. I'll keep it. But only coz I know you won't stop pestering me about keeping it so I'm just cutting my ordeal short."> That's it! Mulder thought. Krevitz wants him to surrender that locket. How could he possibly have known about how much he valued that locket? That lunatic has probably loads of bugging and stolen conversations from him and Scully. He was almost glad that he found the answer, but Scully's last words during that night made him sad again. <"That's my boy! And who knows, maybe you'll want to give it to our future daughter.> Just then, he heard thunderbolts. It was going to rain. He better make it fast. He has to get that locket. The place he didn't want to go to was easy, it was his father's grave. He never really found it easy to go to anyone's grave, much less his father's. Yes, he loves that locket. It is very important for him, but it's not as important as Scully. He'll throw away that locket in a second without hesitation if it's the one thing to save Scully. Hell, he'll give up his own life for Scully. Anything for Scully. Anything at all. ...To be Continued... Title: For You (5/?) Author: Hermione -------------------------------------------------------------- Mulder entered his apartment ever so gloomily. As he went inside his bedroom to get the locket, he stopped to look at the framed photo on his bedside reading table. In the picture frame was a happy Dana Scully. Her hair let down, free of any hair gel or spray net. Her face was naturally beautiful. On her lap was Mulder's basketball. Her elbows rested on the ball while her palms cupped her face. Seeing that smile always has Mulder smiling too. This time was no exception. He had to smile at the sight of Dana Scully cradling his basketball and seemingly so happy at the same time. He vowed that this won't be the last picture of Scully smiling. He told himself that he'll bring Scully home safely, and soon. Who knows? Maybe he'll be able to persuade Scully into posing for a picture with his basketball again, this time with her swollen belly. As much as he wanted to stay and linger about how happy he is that Scully's finally his, and is to become his children's mother, he knew he had to hurry up and get Samantha's locket onto his father's grave. As soon as he took hold of the locket, he hurried to the gunmen's place. He didn't bother checking his messages because they'll surely be from Mrs. Scully and Skinner. And right now, those two are the last persons he'd want to talk, or rather explain, to. Hurriedly, he went for the gunmen's lair. As he went for the drive, he began to question several things. The usual Mulder took a hold of him. He never does wallow in self-pity, but he had knack for blaming himself. He always finds a way to point the entire blame towards himself for even the slightest of accidents which are remotely connected to him. As for the current events, he thinks that Scully was kidnapped, partly because Krevitz was obsessed with her, but also partly because one sorry s.o.b. like Mulder was his lover. Obviously, Krevitz believes that Mulder does not deserve Scully, that's why he's getting her away from him. True, Mulder thought. He may not deserve Scully . But Krevitz would be the last person to ever deserve someone like Scully. Damn, he'll never deserve Scully. He doesn't even deserve any woman at all. Mulder glanced at the locket in his hands. Indeed, it was his most priced "material" possession. It's the one link that brings him to Samantha. But that's not what's important anymore. Right now, he needs to get back the one thing that links him to sanity and to existence: Scully. Everyone knows he wouldn't survive without Scully. Yes, he managed to get by even before Scully came into his life. But look at the kind of life he lived. It was a pathetic existence that was neither rewarding nor worth fulfilling. It was only when Scully walked into that basement that he was actually reborn. Reborn into a life that made sense. A life that gave him a second chance. A second chance to make things better. And now, it seems that the his one chance of being happy again is taken away from him. But he'll never give up. Not without a fight. He won't give Scully up that fast. He'll never give her up. For Mulder, there'll be no life without Scully. For Scully is the one being that keeps him breathing. She is Mulder's one reason to live. And if anything goes wrong tomorrow night, if his reason to live is taken from him, Mulder is sure as hell he doesn't want to live anymore. As he pulled up in the driveway, he looked at the locket in his hands. He opened it. In it was his great grandparents' pictures. He smiled. He knew how Samantha loved that locket. But after she disappeared, the locket seemed to have lost its essence to. "I'm sorry Sam. But I have to get Scully back. We both know I don't need a locket to keep your memories with me. You'll always be in my heart. I don't need a locket to remember you by, coz I'll never really forget you." He closed the locket and brought it to his lips. Then, he got out of the car and headed for the gunmen's heavily locked door. %&%&%&%&%& Meanwhile, Krevitz was keeping Scully in what seems to be an old house. It was small. The furniture were covered with white cloth which has now become grayish due to the dust. Scully was bound to a chair in a kitchen table. As Krevitz went for a glass of water, Scully felt her own throat. The last food intake she had was the cold dinner Krevtiz gave her. She wanted to have a drink. Luckily, she was only bound tight with packing tapes, but her mouth was not gagged. She promised not to make any noise, and Krevitz granted her request. "Can I have a glass of water please?" she pleaded. "Only if you won't do anything stupid with it." Krevitz harshly called out. "What could I possibly do with a glass of water with my hands and feet bound to this chair? I may be an ex-federal agent, and I'm a doctor, but I'm no magician Krevitz." "Jerry." He said as he had Scully's glass in his hands. As he held the glass for Scully to sip, he was shaking his head. When she finished, he said, "It's really too bad Dana. I used to love you so much. Now, I can't believe I'm just standing here feeling how wrong I was. You looked so nice and sweet and loving to that guy Mulder, I thought you were the epitome of a perfect lover. I thought wrong. Who would have thought that little Dana Scully would be capable of shouting out dozens of curses and bitching around to the guy who used to help her with her lab students." "It wasn't love you felt for me. Love is something that exists for a lifetime. And even if things go wrong, it'll take months or even years to get over someone you loved. You didn't love me Jerry. I'm sure of that." "Oh, always so sure of everything now, are we? Why Dana?" "Why what?" "Why did you change? Why was once angelic Dr. Dana Scully somehow morph into a bitchy little devil?" "I didn't change Jerry. This is how I am. I've always been like this." Krevitz let out a laugh. "Wow, that guy Mulder must be in it for the wild thing. Getting involved with a woman like you." "You know, you were right about one thing. As you said, I am nice and loving to Mulder, that's because I =do= love him. I always have and I always will. No psychopath who is an utterly pitiful excuse for a human being can ever change that." As she finished her sentence, Scully felt her cheeks burn. Her jaw suddenly aching in pain. Krevitz hit her. "You know Dama, you were right about one thing to. I was never in love with you. Maybe I had a little crush. But it wasn't love that I felt. Maybe it was lust." He chuckled. Scully's eyes were filled with terror. Tears were threatening to roll down her now red cheeks. Krevitz leaned closer and breathed on her face. "Got you a little frightened there Dana, huh? I could hurt you =and= your baby. You know that." "Please don't." Scully begged. Tears now streaming. "Hah! You know, that lover of yours, Mulder, he seems to be a man of his words. And I know that he can get me and put me into prison too. But you know what, I'm gonna make him a deal. I won't hurt you now, but he has to let me go after all of these. After I get some money, and after I'm perfectly sure that both of you have been tortured, maybe emotionally for you and physically for him, I'll be running off. But your Mulder man must not come after me. He's gotta keep his words." Scully looked away from him. She bowed down and cried silently. "I'm quite sure that if I won't touch you, your Mulder will be noble not to touch me too." With that he left Scully in the kitchen. Then, Scully muttered in silence."That's where you're wrong Krevitz. That's where you're wrong." ..To be continued.... Title: For You (6/?) Author: Hermione -------------------------------------------------------------- "Hey, I'm back." Mulder said as Frohike let him in. "I've got the answers to his clue." He explained. "So what's your plan?" Byers inquired. "My guess is that he just wants me to get rid of this locket. He's not even interested with it." "So what's the point of complying with his wishes then? This guy's no professional." asked Langley. "I told you, I won't risk Scully getting hurt. If he wants this locket on my father's grave, then fine, as long as I'll get Scully back safe and sound." "Okay, so you'll go to your dad's grave and put the locket there. Then what, Mulder?" "I wait." "Well, between the wait and the torture, man, you better squeeze in a phone call to Skinner and Scully's mom." "I know, I know. I can deal with Skinner. But Mrs. Scully? I just can't think of a proper way to tell her." "Tell her the truth man, it always works." Just then, Mulder's phone rang. "You're saved." Chuckled Langley. "Mulder." "Have you got your answer to my clue Mulder?" "Yes." "Very well. Proceed with the plan. Accomplish the task I have given you. I shall call after and from there, you shall wait." Mulder was about to ask for Scully when Krevitz disconnected from the call. Frohike was about to ask Mulder something but he decided not to anymore because he was already halfway out. %$%$%$%$%$%$%$ On his way to his father's grave, Mulder remembered the song which has somehow helped him hold onto the thread of sanity. Somehow, the song has become a source of strength. Mainly because the song personified Scully, who was his ultimate source of strength. If it weren't for Scully, he would have been completely crazy by now. Probably eaten up by his unbalanced paranoia, far-fetched theories, and his quest for the truth which he would never seem to get a hold of. Everything he does now would always be connected with Scully. Hey, he does things, he lives because and for Scully. As if on cue, he listened to the song on the tape again. Every note that I play Every word I might say Every melody I feel Are only for you and your appeal Every page that I write Every day of my life Would not be filled without the things That my love for you now brings He closed his eyes there for a second. Fearing that if he closed them for too long, he might get into an accident. He hasn't been holding up pretty well. And God knows that Scully's disappearance has greatly affected everything in him, including his driving. $%$%$%$%$%$%$%$%$ Scully had just woken from her sleep. She felt someone nudge her side. "Hey, wake up Dana. It's almost six." "Mulder!" "Nope! Sorry to disappoint you. Now, let's see if he's been a good boy." Krevitz began dialing on his cell phone. "Who are you calling?" Scully asked. "Someone from the grave. I have friends there you know." Scully thought. She pushed the negativity aside. < No, I'm sure he did. I'm sure he was able to do it. I trust him.> Then, she heard Krevitz talk again. "Yeah, Grant. Hey, did you check it out? Yeah, that's it. Oh really? Okay. We're even." Scully was staring at him. Willing for him to tell her what happened. He smiled at Scully. "well, it looks like your Mulder's one clever guy. Knows his way out through clues." Even though Scully trusted that Mulder would be able to make it, she felt better when she let out that sigh of relief. Krevitz let out a chuckle. "What? Doubted your lover boy didn't you?" "No I didn't. I was worried about him. If there's one thing I'd bet my life on, it'll be Mulder doing his best to save me. And, I tell you, he's pretty fucking good at it." "Oooh. Watch your mouth Dana. We don't want to teach little Scully-Mulder things like those at an early stage, huh?" She thought. She wanted so much to put her hand on her tummy. But with her hands tied, all she could do was cry silently. She looked up at Krevitz. She's having this great desire to wipe that stupid grin off his face. She bowed her head down again. ..To be Continued.. Title: For You (7/9) Author: Hermione "Hold on, Scully, just hold on." It was all that Mulder could keep saying to himself as he drove back to the gunmen's lair. His knuckles have become white from his tight grip on the steering wheel. When he got out of the car, he flinched when he heard his phone ring. He didn't know whether he was going to answer it but at the end he *decided to* answer it.-- *Must be Mrs. Scully, or maybe Skinner.* "Mulder." "Good one, tough guy! I didn't think you had it in you. Giving up the one object that ties you to your sister." Krevitz asked tauntingly. The only background noise was the deafening silence. No grunts nor attempted sounds from Scully. This worried Mulder. "Where's Scully?" "Oh, she's here. And she's dying to see you." *Oh God.* Mulder thought. *I hope he's talking in metaphor.* "This is the last time I'm contacting you Mulder. The next time I speak to you will be in person." Hearing Krevitz' altered tone, Mulder alerted in his response. "Fine. I want to speak with Scully." "Sorry, that's not part of my plan." "How do I know she's still alive and you're not just reigning me in?" "Fine!" Krevitz almost shouted. *He's easy* Mulder thought. "Hey, Dana!" Mulder struggled to detect any change in the background. Maybe some kind of noise would help him find out just where they are. But there was none. The next voice he heard was the one voice he'd been dying to hear. "Mulder?" Scully sounded tired, but still controlled. Mulder sighed with relief. "Scully! Hold on, baby," he began. But Krevitz' voice came onto the line again. "That's enough. Now you listen to me and you listen good. You come to the Granger warehouse in Potterville at ten tonight. Alone. Got that?" "All right." "I'm not stupid, Mulder. Just one shadow besides yours will cost you two meaningful lives. You come alone, unarmed, and bring some cash." "What?!" shouted a royally pissed Mulder. "You heard me. Bring some cash. And I'm not talking little cash here wacko. Ten grand will do." "Now this has become a ransom kidnapping? You really are insane, aren't you?" "Yeah, but if you don't do as I say, I'm not gonna be the only one." The line went dead. Frustrated and tired, Mulder rubbed his temples a bit. After he knocked, he was a little annoyed at how long the guys took to open the door. *Too much paranoia. Too many locks.* He thought. As he went inside the gunmen's place, he was greeted by Langley saying, "We went through the liberty of checking your messages at home..." "Lemme guess - Mrs. Scully and Skinner." "And your landlord." "I can't talk to any of them right now." Stressed, Mulder slumps down in a chair - wiping a hand over his forehead. Byers butted in. "Why don't you take some sleep Mulder. I know l it's been over a day since you last hit the sack." "I can't." "Look man, from the looks of it, there's not much you can do. You'll be waiting for the clock to strike ten tonight. Between now and then, all you gotta do is rest. You won't be of any use defending yourself or Scully if you're beaten up like that." Langly explained, hoping he could convince Mulder. *He's got a point.* Mulder thought. *If I'm going there alone, I might as well be fit, not drowsy and weak.* "Don't worry Mulder," Frohike cut in. "We'll come with you tonight. Just in case." "No! He wants me to go alone. Unarmed." He explained, straightening up. He is wide eyed now. Langley argued, "That's stupid. Look, man, we've established that this guy's no pro. By the looks of it, you're only going against him. One on one. If things go wrong, what about Agent Scully?" "I can't take that risk. I can handle myself, okay?" "No, Mulder. You're going to rescue a pregnant woman from a definitely armed man. If you can't go there armed, you might as well have back-up." With a grim look of purpose, Mulder said, "I only said I'll be going there alone. I never said I'd go there unarmed." To be continued... Title: For You (8/9) Author: Hermione -------------------------------- "So, Dana, tell me why." "Why what?" Scully asked, annoyed. She opened her eyes. Turning her head, she looked past the crates, past the blacked-out windows to the ricketty old swivel chair. Krevitz was perched there precariously. She hoped he'd fall off. "Why Mulder? What does he have that I don't?" Krevitz asked with yet another stupid smile on his face. Scully was sure he's asking just to tease her. *Brains, a handsome face, great body, a heart, a love that's meant only for me* she thought. She decides to answer, "Mulder and I have been together forever, and I don't think I could ever imagine myself with someone else. We've grown into completing each other. I for him alone, and him for me." "That didn't answer my question, Dana." *You wouldn't like my answer one bit.* Scully sighed, "Look, I'm really not up to talking right now. Please, just let me rest. I'm not feeling well." "Fine." Krevitz gets up and sighs. He heads for the kitchen again. As he enters, the door squeaks on its hinges. Scully was alone, in her seat, bound by ropes. Her hands were aching, and so were her feet. Even with her training, she was helpless. This was one scenario no woman would want to be in - especially a pregnant one. &%&%&%&%&%&%&%&%&% 9:58 pm Granger Warehouse The warehouse door was wide open. Mulder was surprised, but relieved. It was one more proof that Krevitz was no professional. The Gunmen had made him sleep, and he was refreshed. His instincts were honed. Hopefully, that would be enough. It was dark inside, and that worried him. But if he wanted Scully back, he didn't have much choice, so he went inside. He carried only the small brown envelope of money he'd promised Krevitz, and it comforted him that he had something to bargain with. He'd walked no more than twenty steps when he heard the heavy steel door shut behind him, and he turned around. In the same instant, the lights came on, and as he blinked his eyes against the sudden light, he made out Krevitz' face. "A minute early, Mulder." Krevitz announced. "Where's Scully?" he asked. If looks could kill, Krevitz would probably be a corpse by now. "Turn around." > Mulder stepped back. He slowly glanced sideways and made sure that Krevitz won't try to attack him from behind. He scanned the warehouse, and with his eyes, he found Scully in a corner, sitting on a chair, her arms bound up behind het. She was gagged. "Did you do as I say, Mulder?" Krevitx said as he drew closer. Mulder wasn't surprised to see a gun aimed at his chest. "Where did you get the gun? Med techs don't use guns, they use microscopes." Krevitz chuckled. "I see you've done your homework. Did you bring what I told you to bring?" "Yes." Mulder raised his hand, showing Krevitz the small brown envelope. Krevitz grabbed it and looked inside. "Clever man. More than I wanted." He laughed a little. Then he took a step closer to Mulder, but not too close. Once again, Mulder found himself being greatly thankful that this guy was not only an amateur, but also stupid. "You know, Mulder, I should really search you. You know, just to make sure that you came unarmed. But, I know you'd follow my instructions 'cause you wouldn't want your beloved mother =and child= hurt, right?" Krevitz chose not to search Mulder even though he knows that's risky. He's afraid to. He knows Mulder's a pro and he isn't, and if he gets close enough to touch, then Mulder might disarm him. 'Krevitz suddenly looked unsure. Mulder thought maybe Krevitz was frightened to get too close - and so he should be. Scully let out a whimper. Then, she accidentally overtoppled her chair. This made both Mulder and Krevitz look at her. Krevitz turned his aim on Scully. Just as instinctively, Mulder pulled his gun and trained it on Krevitz' chest. When Krevitz faced him, Mulder said, "You should have *searched* me". "Oh no, you don't. You can't pull that trigger, not when my own gun is pointed at her." Krevitz was now sweating and a bit panicky. Mulder tried to keep the pressure on without letting it get to boiling point. "I guess we've got a stalemate, then," Mulder said, fighting to keep his breathing under control. He had to appear in control, even though he was anything but. Otherwise the situation could escalate, and with Krevitz' gun trained on Scully, that was something he couldn't let happen. But the two men jumped when the entrance door burst open. Krevitz, surprised, moved his hand and aimed to shoot Mulder. But Mulder was too quick. He pulled the trigger first. Wounded, Krevitz went down, slumping onto the concrete floor in a heap', for instance. Scully was crying. Her eyes darted, looking over Mulder's shoulder at the entrance, and Mulder looked too, wondering if the intruders were with Krevitz. He was relieved to see the familiar faces of the Lone Gunmen. Turning back to Scully, Mulder rushed to her side and untied her. They held each other for what seemed like an eternity. They only broke apart when they heard Frohike's voice. Mulder worked the rope around her hands, freeing her. He got her loose and picked her up. Scully's head was rested on his shoulder, her eyes closed. "Hey, Mulder! If we call the paramedics now, I think this guy will live." "Just take care of this mess, guys. Please." Mulder said to the gunmen as he made his way to the door. > ..To be continued.. Title: For You (9/9) EPILOGUE Author: Hermione ----------------------------------------- EPILOGUE Scully was sitting on king-sized bed in the master bedroom. She was all smiles while talking to her two-month-old baby girl, Julia. "Hello, wide-awake baby!" Julia spread her lips into a gummy grin with all the exuberance a two-month-old could muster. Scully stretched a little on the bed, wondering how long they'd been asleep. He appears in the doorway, and Scully sees him. Her face lights up immediately. She smiles. Only Mulder can do that to her. She feels both serene and amazed that they found each other. As Mulder walks closer toward them, she feels warmth in her chest. Mulder smiles back. As he reaced them, he leans to give Scully a loving and lingering kiss on the lips, then moves to kiss Julia on the forehead. They sat in silence. Just admiring the beauty of their daughter, the product of their love. Scully glanced over at the clock on the dressing table and saw Samantha's locket there. "I'm really glad you got that back Mulder," nodding to the locket. "I know how much it means to you. And somehow, I feel guilty that you almost lost it because of me." "What do you mean, because of you? It was never your fault, Scully. We both know that." "No. I mean, if I hadn't persuaded you to keep it at home, then it would have stayed safely in," "Scully," Mulder interrupted her, "it doesn't really matter because we have it safely. And besides, you did open my eyes to the fact that I might wanna give it to our future daughter someday." Scully smiled broadly. "Really? Then, how come you haven't given it to Julia?" "Well, there's kind of a story behind that locket that I haven't told you, Scully." Mulder settles in on the bed and lifts Julia up and cradles her. "What? C'mon, tell me. You wouldn't want to keep any secrets from your wife, would you?" she teased. "'Course not." "Then do tell." Julia made small baby noises. "See, she wants to hear it too." "Okay. You already know that this locket is given to the first daughter of the family. When she finally gets it, she has to take very good care of it. And then, when she decides to get married, she has to give the locket to her husband. If he manages to take care of the locket well, then he's proven himself in that area. And, when they have their first daughter, they'll pass the locket on to her." Mulder becomes a bit shamefaced. He knows the whole practice is so damn sweet and mushy - and he's a guy - but still, he wants to keep the tradition going. "That's kinda silly, the locket being a standard to judge the husband." Scully remarked smiling. "It's not really a 'measure of a man' kind of thing, Scully. What matters is that the couple should be the one to hand it to their daughter. And since Sam didn't get the chance to marry, the locket ended up in my hands. Something to remember Samantha by." "So why haven't you?" He looked at her blankly. She prodded, "Why haven't you given it to Julia?" "Oh, Scully, don't you get it? Every time I think of giving this to Julia, the next thought would be her giving it to her husband." He laughs a bit. " And I'm not ready for that." Scully laughed, "Oh, Mulder. You're being too much. She's just two months old. It'll be centuries before she gets married." "I know, but she's just -" he faltered, suddenly serious. "She's just my baby girl." "She won't be a baby forever, Mulder." Scully said as she reached over and brushed a few strands that landed on Mulder's forehead. "I know. But right now, I just can't stand the idea of her growing up getting married. I'm not ready for that." "In time you will." "Yeah, but right now, let's just enjoy her babyhood okay? Please? I'll think of a way to deal with the locket thing. I promise." Scully gave him a quick kiss on the lips before handing Julia over to him. "Hey, how's daddy's little girl?" he cooed. It made Scully's heart skip a beat. She'd never been this happy. She walked over to the stereo and pressed play. Soft music filled the room. For you I make a promise of fidelity Now and for eternity No one could replace this love for you I'd take your heart and hand and everything And replace it with a wedding ring; Coz this life is no good alone Since we've become one you're all I know. If this feeling should leave I'd die And here's why all I am is for you, Everything I do now makes sense All roads end, all I do is for you Only for you With Julia cradled in his arms, Mulder turned to look at Scully. "That again?" he asked. "Why, you got a problem with that, honey?" "Nah, I love that song." END Hi people! This is only my first time to write.
