From: Allison Boehm Date: Tue, 18 Dec 2001 19:17:15 -0800 (PST) Subject: Gossamer submission Source: direct TITLE: Fox (1/1) AUTHOR: Ice Maiden RATING: PG CLASSIFICATION: V SPOILERS: None KEYWORDS: A tiny bit of implied MS friendship or UST, but not really. SUMMARY: Scully muses over Mulder's name. FEEDBACK: I will love you forever if you send me some. icemaiden1013@yahoo.com He bears so much resemblance to his namesake. He is solitary, alert, territorial, protective. A forager. Loyal and sly and convincing and beautiful. Solitary. He spent so long alone in the basement office, alone on his quest. He does not have a girlfriend, hasn't for a while now. One night stands, maybe, but no commitment. He finds pleasure in solitude. Alert. He picks up the smallest details and puts them to use. Whether it be on a case where he has inklings of a theory before we even leave our office, or when he asks me if I am okay because he knows I'm not. Territorial and protective. Of me, of his work, of his quest, of his past. He thinks I don't see the looks he gives, don't feel his muscles tense if we happen to be touching, when men try to move in on me. He hated it when he was assigned new partners, even me at first. He doesn't tell people about his conviction that there is a conspiracy working to hide the truth about aliens from the American people. He doesn't like to share. A forager. He is a profiler. He hunts for information about criminals and pieces it together to give him a full picture. Or on a case, he is the one who makes leaps to piece clues together. It is his work. Loyal. He is fiercely loyal to everything he trusts. To me, and to his work and his quest, which are really the same. He will not give up. He says that if he quits now, they win. And he is adamant that they will not win. Sly and convincing. How many times has he tricked me into doing something, has he convinced me to do something utterly insane? How many times has he talked his way into someone's trust, only to turn around and arrest them? And beautiful. There is beauty in everything about him. In his movements. In his complex, open mind that can understand anything so quickly. In his hands that have killed a man and that have given me hope again with one gentle touch when all hope was lost. But he refuses to be called by his given name. Why? Maybe because it exposes him so blatantly, too much for his liking. His name is the only one that fits him perfectly, but I can't think of a single person alive that he allows to call him that. He is Fox. END
