THANKS to xdksfan, my beta. "Come on Scully, I know you want to go!" "Now?" "Yes, now. When else would we find ourselves in this part of the country?" "Ok, you want us to go to the beach" "Uh-huh" "In this kind of weather?" "Come on, Scully, it's sunny and there is absolutely NO wind. The weather is perfect, trust me." "MULDER, it's -4F outside! Who in the world would want to go to the beach now!" "As a matter of fact many". With this Mulder made a U-turn and drove into the snowed parking lot. "See", he said pointing to about half a dozen cars, "there are those who do appreciate the beauty". "I bet those are cars that could start and they were left sitting here from summer. Watch out!" "It's small, this car will go over it no...", a loud scratching noise followed, "or not". Mulder stopped the car and got out. Dang, why in the world was this rental so low? He got on his knees and looked under the car. Yep, that smashed thing was there. Scully got out of the passenger seat and walked around the car, smirking at Mulder's position. "Need any help down there?" "No, I can reach out and grab it", he stretched his right hand and grabbed the offending thing. The smashed piece of metal was turning, but wouldn't come out. "Stupid piece of metal". "What did you say, Mulder?" He looked up. God, she was beautiful. The sun was right behind her and it was shining thru her hair, making it golden, her cheeks were rosy and ... He concentrated on her hair instead. "It's stuck". "Do you want to use the shovel?" "A shovel?? Where did it come from?" "It was in the trunk." He took the shovel and tried to hit the annoying piece of metal. It didn't budge. He got up and sighed. "Scully I need to lift up the car and you will have to try to grab that thing". "I found something else, Mulder. A jack" "Jack??" "You know one of those things you use to lift the car when you change the tire, Mulder. You HAVE changed a tire before, right?" "Of course I have, Scully. You wound me." He set the jack in place and started pumping. He looked at Scully, who was looking at the frozen wave breaker. She had her wool hat on, but was covering her right ear with her gloved hand. She turned and looked him straight in the eyes. "It IS beautiful, Mulder. The air is so crisp and I don't remember ever seeing the frozen sea before. Just look at that beacon with icicles on it." "Told ya to trust me". He tried the shovel again and the strange piece of metal budged this time. "Who would have thought, a smashed metal bucket!" Scully put her hand on his neck, lowered his head to her level and gently kissed him on his cheek. "My hero". "Come on, lets go walk on the frozen water, Scully!" ******* "That was a nice free show on snow for the cab drivers in that parking lot". "Huh?" "There were cab drivers in that parking lot, Mulder. They really enjoyed it". "I enjoyed the defrosting part much better, thank you". "Me too, me too".
