Disclaimer: Scully, Mulder, and Pendrell are all property of Chris Carter and 1013 productions, not mine. Dale Cooper, Harry S. Truman, Theresa, that yelling guy, The Arm, Bob, Diane, Andy, Lucy, Donna Hayward, Leland Palmer, and Laura Palmer are all property of the nice little people who created Twin Peaks and Twin Peaks Production Inc. Southport Colmbian and Cloud 9 Apartments are mine. I will accept feedback on any story I've written, so please no flames. Why is there a reason for you to send flames? It is really unnecessary, you know. The phone rang. Three different places in the US, three different people looked up and picked up the phone. "Hello?" said each of the three people. "Agent Scully, please bring Agent Mulder and yourself up to AD Skinner's office." said a secretary on the line at the FBI headquarters and Washington DC. "Agent Cooper, come up to my office! My office! off-ice!" said, well yelled, a slightly inane assistant director in Philadelphia's FBI field office. "Angel, have you and Pendrell meet me in the lobby in five minutes." said one of the head angels from a phone in the lobby in an apartment building in Washington DC. At once, all three phones hung up. The shuffle of feet as all three of the people got up. "Mulder, we've just been called to AD Skinner's office." said the redhead in DC. "Pencil face, lobby, now!!!" yelled the brunette to the apartment next door in DC. The five trudged down the halls of their buildings. The arrived at the elevators, two up and one down button was pushed. The whir of the elevators and the doors opened as the five got into their elevators and rode to their destination. "Ok hitman, what is it?" asked Angel. She sat in a chair in the lobby of Cloud 9 Apartments in Washington DC. Pendrell sat next to her while one of the head angels, nicknamed hitman stood in front of them. "For the last time, why do you call me hitman?" said hitman. "Because when you were alive, you were a hitman. You were supposed to deliver a message and a secret file to some angry mob bosses. Then you croaked. You got stuck with this crappy head angel job to deliver cases to the lovely immortal angels from heaven so they could do the cases. There we go. What's the $64,000 case for today, Alex?" "My name isn't Alex, and quit that lame game show announcer voice. This is a serious face, I mean case." Angel put on her serious face. "I'm listening pretty." Hitman gave Pendrell and Angel the folder he had in his hand. "You're being sent to Twin Peaks to investigate a murder as FBI forensics agents from Chicago." "Our lovely hometown of Chicago!" Angel made silent cheering noises. "Anyway, here's your badges. Angel, you're Agent Angel." Angel made a scoffing noise. "Pendrell, you're Agent Benbell." Pendrell looked at his badge. "Um, where's my picture?" asked Pendrell. "Since that Mulder has no knowledge of you and Scully, Angel is in charge of your new look." Pendrell became scared. "What am I gonna do? Make you look like a land mine? No, I would never do that angel pie." said Angel sweetly. "Ok thanks hitman." Pendrell and Angel headed back up to their apartments. "Thanks for coming Agents. Please take a seat." said AD Skinner. He looked up from the folder he had. Scully and Mulder took their seats. He handed them each a folder. "What case is it now Skinner?" asked Mulder while reading his folder's contents. "A murder in Twin Peaks. The fourth one it's had for a few years. You will be working with Agent Cooper from Philadelphia's field office, and Agents Angel and Benbell, forensics agents from Chicago's office. Any questions?" "Is this even an X-File?" asked Scully. "Basically, yes. The other two murders were defined strange. Agent Cooper is in charge because he had worked on the 2nd murder. And he was there when the 3rd murder happened." "Do we know this Agent Angel from when she worked here in February?" asked Mulder. "Yes." "Yes sir?" asked Agent Cooper holding the door open. "Here's your file! Your airplane ticket is inside! In-side! You're going back to Twin Peaks! There has been another mur-d-er!" yelled Cooper's AD. He took the file from him and left. "Oh well, back to Twin Peaks." Cooper snapped his folder shut. Angel ate another sprinkle. The teal blue Taurus hummed like it always did. Pendrell, or should we say Benbell was laying down in the passenger seat trying to at least get some of his sleep back. Angel did a good job on his new look. He didn't have that curling lip problem. His hair was a dirty blond with dark brown highlights. His face was slimmed and his eyes were a deep sparkling violet. At least he finally got a decent suit that didn't come with a lab coat. He brushed back his hair again, but the wind still whipped through it, and his hair fell in his eyes. He could say one thing, he looked pretty damn good. Angel still pretty much well looked the same, sleek light brown Claire Danes haircut, and a skirt suit. They drove past forests surrounding Twin Peaks. They went past the sign that said they entered Twin Peaks. A few miles back, Cooper was driving while talking into a tape recorder. "It's April 2nd, 1999. Current time: slightly over noon. I had a nice lunch at Southport Colombian. The hamburger was rarely done. So I sent it back. Then it was hard. Their French fries were a little bit too salty, but they were good with ketchup. They had some pretty damn good cherry pie. Remind me to go back there." Cooper said. He turned of the tape recorder, but he turned it back on again. "Also Diane, these redwood trees look pretty nice in April. They got a little more bigger, but they're nice." Another few miles back behind Cooper, Mulder popped another sunflower seed in his mouth. Scully looked though the file on Laura and Theresa deaths. Also a little about Agent Desmond, who disappeared while investigating Theresa death. "Quit playing with your hair Benbell." said Angel. Benbell mumbled. Angel shook her head and looked back at the road. A small man darted across the road. Angel swerved, trying not to hit him. They went over the side of the road and crashed into a tree. Angel opened the glove compartment and took out the small gun she had managed to bring with her. She got out the car and ran after the short little man. Benbell stayed behind to look for help, if any cars go by. Angel ran close behind the little man. The ground branches kept hitting her knees. Then the little man disappeared between two small trees. Angel ran between them if he'd ducked behind a fallen log. Then she found herself in some kind of room with a zig zagged design on the floor and large red curtains on all four walls, hiding them. There was a statue on one side of the room near a big red chair. There was a white table in the middle of the room, where the little man sat. He looked up. "Oh hello. Please take a seat. This is a very nice table, redwood." said the little man, speaking backwards. Angel strangely understood him and sat down in the red chair next to the statue. "Yes it is a very nice table. What is your name?" said Angel, also backwards. "My name is the arm. And I sound like this." He made Indian whoop noises. "Nice to meet you. I'm Angel. I'm here in Twin Peaks to investigate another murder." "Such a pretty name for such a pretty girl. You better watch out or he'll get you." "Bob? I don't have to worry about anything." "Why? Are you already dead?" "Yes. I died two years ago. You have a nice place here." "Thanks. You should be going now. Your partner is calling you." Angel heard Benbell's voice calling for her. "Ok." Angel got up and started to leave. The arm held up a emerald green ring. "Don't take the ring." said a voice in her head, not backwards. She saw a tiny scrap of paper on the table. She licked her finger and picked it up. She searched for her compact mirror in her jacket pocket. She put the scrap of paper in the compact and waved goodbye to the nice little short man, and lifted up the curtain. She followed Benbell's voice and got to him. There was another car next to the crashed Taurus. There was a man talking to Benbell. She took one look at Agent Cooper and whistled. Benbell looked up. "Oh there you are Angel. I was afraid you got lost. I was going to send Cooper after you." said Benbell. "I'm fine. Just a very strange little man. Lost him though." said Angel. She tucked the gun back into it's holster, which she doesn't know why it was there in the first place. "Oh sorry. I'm Agent Cooper." Cooper said, shaking Angel's hand. "You already know my name, but I'm Agent Angel as my little insane partner, Benbell, said." "I'll give you and Benbell a ride. A tow truck is on the way to take your crashed Taurus back to Avis. Benbell already loaded your luggage in my car. We were just waiting for you to come back." Cooper smiled. He headed to his car. "Hey Angel, look on the dashboard of our car." Benbell whispered as he headed towards Cooper's car. Angel was following him and stopped to look on the dashboard of the car while fishing her doughnut bag out from under the driver's seat. There was a Furby, talking backwards. It was red with a gray chest and brown tufted hair. It looked strangely like the little man she followed. She grabbed it and stuffed it into her doughnut bag and got in the seat behind the passenger seat of Cooper's car. Scully looked out the window as Mulder passed two cars on the side of the road. A teal blue Taurus was crashed in a tree and a dark gray Mercury was next to it. There were two men and a woman who was putting something in a bag. Something was strange about this town, Scully sensed it. Cooper stopped in front of Twin Peak's sheriff office. He helped Angel and Benbell out. Crappy Mercury who's back door's can't open from the inside. Angel looked at Cooper when he opened the door. She reached down and flipped off the child protection lock. "How did you know the child protection lock was on?" asked Cooper. "Common sense. The scent of candy and a McDonald's toy wrapper. The last person who rented this car must have had a 6 year old son." replied Angel. "Not bad." Benbell opened the door for Angel and Cooper as they glanced at each other. The sheriff greeted the three as they came in. "Nice to see you again Agent Cooper." said Sheriff Truman. "The same too Harry." said Cooper. "Oh you two must be the forensics agents from Chicago." "Yes, I'm Agent Angel, and this is my partner Agent Benbell. They're putting him in charge of all the forensics work." said Angel with a sarcastic look on her face. Benbell sneered at her. "Oh shut up. I have more experience than you do." said Benbell. As Angel and Benbell argued, Cooper turned to Truman. "Have any coffee?" asked Cooper. "Yeah sure, I'll have Lucy make you a cup and get you a jelly doughnut." Angel looked up. "Doughnuts? Can Lucy get me a sprinkled one please?" said Angel. "Sure." Truman went over and talked to Lucy. "I heard there were two other Agents on this case." Said Cooper as Truman came back. "From DC. Agents Mulder and Scully. They're in the conference room, they just arrived a few minutes before you did. I'll take you to them and we'll talk about the case there." The three agents followed Truman to the conference room. Mulder and Scully were having a discussion about why this town has to do with the X-Files. Their discussion was cut short when Truman came in with the other three agents. Scully recognized them from the car crash on the side of the road when Mulder drove by. Truman quickly introduced Angel, Benbell, and Cooper to them. "Yes we know Angel. She worked for two weeks in DC's HQ in February." said Scully. "Hey Angel?" asked Mulder. "What Mulder?" said Angel as she was sitting down next to Mulder, and across from Benbell. "I didn't know you worked in Chicago." "Yeah I did. I came to DC to work with the forensics team on a Chicago related case." Angel dropped her bags in the middle of the small living room in her hotel room. She had to share with him. Mulder and Scully had to share a room too. Benbell almost tripped over Angel's luggage. The room was pretty big, it was more like a suite. There were two separate rooms, apart from each other from the little hall to the door. There was a kitchen and a living room with a large table. And only one bathroom. "Why do we need a room this big?" asked Angel. "I guess hitman didn't tell you." said Benbell. "Tell me what?" "We have to stay in Twin Peaks for two weeks." Angel groaned. "I got other things to worry about. It's almost 9, and I'm tired." "Ok whatever. I guess I'll head to bed too." "I got dibs on the bedroom on the right!" Angel picked up her luggage and put it in the right bedroom. As the days passed, Angel worked with Scully on investigation the body. It was another female, Laura Palmer's best friend Donna Hayward. After the autopsy, Angel met Benbell up near a lake. They met up there every afternoon to discuss their findings. Nearing the end of the first week, Angel met with Cooper in the conference room. "Good evening Agent Cooper." Said Angel as she walked into the conference room where Cooper was enjoying his black as midnight coffee and a jelly doughnut. She sat down across from him and took a doughnut from the small plate at the end of the table. "Good evening too Agent Angel." said Cooper. His tape recorder was on the table next to his coffee. Angel put the file she had conducted of the week's forensics findings. Cooper flipped though the file. "Did you find a letter?" asked Cooper looking up from the file. "Yes, under one of the fingernails. I also found a letter on Friday when I was in the woods after chasing that small man." answered Angel. She knew what she was doing. She had studied Cooper all week, and yet she was attracted to him. "Can I see them?" Angel took the small plastic bag out of her coat pocket and slid it over to Cooper. The letters were a D and an L. "I found the L in the woods." "Good job. We might be going home a little earlier with the pace Benbell and yourself are working at. You really know your stuff. Why weren't you in charge of the forensics?" Angel smiled at him. "Well, actually, Benbell has more skill than I do. He's been working in forensics since he graduated from college." Cooper banged his coffee cup down on the table. "You know what?" "What?" "I'm already tired of this case. I've worked on this type of thing here a couple years ago. The stinking guy thinks it would be pretty funny if he killed Donna Hayward on April Fool's day." Cooper got up and walked around the table and sat next to Angel. "I know. I agree with you." "I've noticed you go out of your way to supply information for me." "Does that bother you?" "No. Tell me something. We're you attracted to me when you saw me on Friday?" "Yes, why?" "My god, me too." They stared at each other for a moment. Then they lunged at each other and started kissing. Groping, lapping, and melting into each other as quickly as they could. Cooper broke away. "What?" "We shouldn't." "Live a little." Angel stared at him with her deep blue eyes, burning into him. Then he resumed where he left off. He broke away again. "No, no not here." "Your room?" "Yeah." Angel and Cooper quickly got up, grabbed their coats and files, and ran out of the station and into Cooper's car for the drive back to the hotel. In Benbell's room was Scully. Benbell told her that he was Pendrell in disguise for this case, so Mulder wouldn't find out. Angel never told Mulder that she was dead and worked with Pendrell. "I like your new look." said Scully, playing with Benbell's hair. "It's only temporary. I'll still be Pendrell back at home. Angel was nice enough to make me look good." said Benbell. It was pretty late. Around 2 or so. Angel had met with Cooper at 11. The next night, Angel talked with Benbell in the bathroom. She told him about her night with Cooper last night. "Why are you telling me about this?" asked Benbell. "No reason. I like to pick on you a little." said Angel with a smirk on her face. "All right. Good night." Benbell patted Angel's shoulder and headed to his room. Angel finished brushing her hair and turned off the light in the bathroom. As she was walking to her room, the light in the living room went off. "Oh very funny Benbell." she said to the air, thinking Benbell was in the room. She turned on the lamp on the kitchen table and turned around. She was face to face with Laura Palmer's killer, Bob. He knocked her down and started to hit her. Angel screamed, hoping Benbell will come, but Bob had already gotten to him and he was unconscious on his bed. Cooper woke up. He heard screams from the hotel room above. He scrambled out of bed and pulled a pair of pants on. He ran out of his hotel room and up the stairs to the 3rd floor, Angel's room. Mulder and Scully were at the door with their guns ready. Cooper got behind Scully and Mulder kicked the door open. The three rushed in the room. Bob jumped up as they came in the room. Scully and Mulder pointed their guns at him while Cooper crouched and motioned for Angel to crawl near him. Angel obeyed and crawled slowly near Cooper as Bob smashed open a window and jumped out. Mulder ran towards the window and looked out, expecting to see Bob fall three stories to the ground below, but there was no sign of him. "Hey Scully?" said Mulder. "What?" said Scully walking towards Mulder. "Look out the window. This guy is an X-File." Scully looked out the window. No sign of Bob nor any glass on the ground. There was glass on the ground inside the room. "Benbell. Scully help him." mumbled Angel. Scully looked over at Angel. She was pointing to the left bedroom. Scully ran into Benbell's room. He was still unconscious. "Hey Mulder, go call and ambulance." said Cooper. Mulder nodded and dialed an ambulance on his cell phone. Cooper held Angel in his arms to keep her up. She was bleeding in a couple places. He dragged her over to the couch and laid her down on it. She grabbed his shirt and pulled him close to her face. "Thanks for coming. Check my fingernails." whispered Angel in his ears. Cooper took Angel's hands and checked her nails. There was something under one of her nails, and removed it with tweezers. It was am A. "He's going to come back." whispered Cooper. He heard sirens outside. The EMTs rushed in. Two took care of Angel, while the other two took care of Benbell. After everybody left, Cooper headed back to his room to get dressed. On the way out, he picked up his tape recorder and switched it on. "Tonight was a little strange. The time now is April 11th, 1999. 10:44 PM. Diane, Bob is after someone else. One of the agents I'm working with on this case, Angel, Bob attacked her in her hotel room while her partner was unconscious in the next room. Agents Scully, Mulder, and I came in time just as when Bob was going to kill her. There was a letter under her nail, an A. She's not safe, Bob might come back for her." said Cooper into the tape recorder on the drive to the hospital. "Also, I think I'm in love with her." Angel listened to the steady beep of her heart monitor. Benbell was next to her asleep. He regained consciousness a few minutes ago and dozed off. She looked out the door at the nurses and doctors walking by. There was a man sitting in a chair over near the desk on this floor. The man looked up and caught Angel's gaze. It was Leland Palmer, Laura's dad. His face changed and he was Bob. He started to get up and head towards Angel's room. Angel tried to scream. She saw Cooper come up behind Bob and walk past him. Bob saw Cooper and headed towards the elevator. Angel moaned. "What's wrong?" asked Cooper as he entered the room and shut the door. "Bob. He was here. You just walked past him." Angel said, pointing towards the elevator. "He will try to come back and finished what he started. You won't be safe. I can watch you if I can get Benbell to trade rooms with me. You're getting tired of Benbell already?" "Trade rooms with him. That's a good idea. Don't wake him up now, he's tired." Cooper put his hand on Angel's. "I'll stay with you so Bob wouldn't come back tonight ok?" "Ok. I also saw Leland Palmer." "Why was he here?" "He's Bob." Angel squeezed Cooper's hand. Lucy was setting out the doughnuts for the morning. Truman walked by in the hall. Lucy suddenly remembered something she wanted to tell Truman. "Sheriff Truman?" she asked. Truman turned around. "Yes Lucy?" answered Truman. He walked towards Lucy. "Last night I heard something from the conference room. You know the one next to the water fountain, not the one with the big ugly brown chair and the metal table?" "Yes. What about it?" "Agent Cooper was in there last night with Angel talking about the forensics evidence. I could hear across the hall." "Did you type it?" "Yes I did. Let me go get it for you." Lucy went and got the paper she typed up what she heard last night. The phone rang when she picked the paper up. She dropped it and it slid under a crack under the tile. She answered the phone. It was for Truman. He took the phone as Lucy got on the floor and looked for the paper she dropped. "Yes?" Truman said into the phone. "It's Cooper. You need to go arrest Leland Palmer. He's responsible for the murders. Angel saw him in the hospital as Bob." said Cooper who was on the other line. "Ok, I'm on my way." Truman hung up the phone. "I'm sorry, but I can't find the paper." said Lucy. "It's ok. Was it important?" "No, not really." "Ok I'm heading over to the Palmer's home." Truman left. Monday dawned on, as Angel and Benbell were packed and waiting on the balcony of the hotel in front of their room. The case was solved, and the murder was put away. Angel was healing a little fast, but nobody noticed. She was going to ride with Cooper while Benbell drove himself. Benbell was scared of Angel's driving, and he needed the time to change back to Pendrell. Mulder was sure Leland was an X-File, but Bob was an evil spirit who took him over. That's why Angel saw Leland become Bob in the hospital. Benbell had already loaded his bags into his car and was saying goodbye to Cooper as he came down the stairs. Benbell drove away when Angel was taking her luggage to Cooper's car. Mulder and Scully had already left because their plane was going to leave for DC earlier in the morning. No one was around, so Cooper pulled Angel in for a kiss. The ride to the airport was quiet. Cooper insisted they should go eat breakfast at the Southport Colombian restaurant. He suggested that she had to try the pie. At the airport, Angel said goodbye to Cooper at his gate. She almost forgot to give him her phone number, so she took out a pen and wrote it on his hand. After his plane took off, Angel went to the bathroom to get back home. Fifteen seconds later, Angel was sitting in the bathroom in her apartment. Her cuts were healed, and she was in her PJs. She knew Pendrell was asleep, because he had gotten to his apartment two hours before she did. She crawled into her bed and went to sleep and had a dream about Cooper.
