Well, Mulder does. I wish! Sorry-- these great characters belong to CC, FOX TV, Gillian Anderson and the gorgeous and talented David Duchovny. This story is just to get me through the time between getting tapes of XF from my wonderful friend, Rachel. ( No, I did not get into the stuff we chat about on IM when Rick is gone!) Summary: A little lusting and junk food. (and a little taste of summer for a cold January night.) Fun With Food "Ahhh, Scully, I need some fresh air. I'll meet you outside by the car, OK?" Mulder said quickly as he brushed past her without making eye contact. She had no idea what was wrong with him. He had the occasional weak stomach at a crime scene but this one wasn't even bloody. The victim appeared to have had a heart attack from fright, judging from the expression on the face. Scully watched as Mulder rushed past her to the door. She snapped back to reality and mentally slapped herself for thinking that way. But she always loved it when the weather was warm and he took off his suit jacket so his .... stop it, Scully! After she concluded her cursory exam at the crime scene she ordered the body to be taken to Quantico for her autopsy. She walked out to the car to find Mulder leaning against it. His jacket was still off and he had rolled up his shirt sleeves to reveal his long, finely muscled arms. He had a slight tan, probably from playing basketball over the past sunny weekend. Or maybe he had gone to the outdoor pool.< Ah, the Speedos. Not much left to the imagination in those! What a body....> Another mental slap. < I need to get home.> Scully said to herself. Mulder tried not to look at Scully as she came down to the car. He climbed behind the wheel and put the keys in the ignition. As she climbed in next to him he got a whiff of her perfume. "Scully, I think I'm going to call it a day. I didn't get much sleep last night (and I probably won't tonight either, he thought.) Do you want to take the car after you drop me off at my place since it is closer?" "Ahhh, sure." she pulled herself together and away from looking at his tan forearms. " I think I may just keep the car after I drop you and head for home myself. I am feeling kinda bushed from this heat." Yeah, it was pretty hot in the car but it wasn't from the temperature. She could feel her face getting red and turned to look out the side window. They managed to drive back to Mulder's apartment without making eye contact or even speaking. It was a very strange feeling and they both knew it, but didn't know what to do about it. Mulder parked along the street and climbed out, leaving the car running. He had to look at her to say good bye. He thought she looked a bit flushed. Probably got some sun on that fair skin this weekend. She couldn't take much sun with her complexion. Not on her flawless porcelain skin. Mulder told himself. "See ya tomorrow, Scully." he said and quickly turned toward his building. Once again, Scully had a nice view of that perfect tight butt as it took the rest of his great body up the sidewalk and stairs to his building. This time she could look without him noticing her gaze. Oops, he turned around when he realized she hadn't pulled away yet. Did he see her staring at him? She quickly pulled the car out into the street and almost side swiped a passing car. Damn, how embarrassing. She didn't dare look to see if Mulder had noticed. < Please let him be in the building!> ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Mulder watched as Scully pulled the car out and almost hit a passing car. She seemed so preoccupied. "I'll give her a call later (after I've had a cold shower) and see that she is OK." he said out loud. < Man, I am in trouble. Now I am talking to myself about Scully.> When Mulder got up to his apartment he headed straight for the fridge. It was pretty bare but the cool air escaping made him feel better. Hmmm, let's see. A six pack of Sam Adams and some sour cream. ( I don't remember buying sour cream.) Maybe I even have some chips and I can have a junk food dinner. What the hell. The Knicks are on TV and I can even watch the news for once. A quick shower later and he was comfortably in his favorite old jeans and Knicks T-shirt, ensconced on his couch with a cold brew, a bag of potato chips that weren't too stale and a container of sour cream to which he had added a pack of dry soup mix that he also didn't remember buying. he thought with a smirk. He flipped on the news but was hit with a commercial about hair color. The woman was washing it into her hair in the shower and she was groaning and making sounds like she was having an orgasm. The hair color was called "Passion Red". As Mulder watched the commercial the woman in the ad started to resemble Scully. She was writhing around and stroking her hair. Mulder started writhing around himself. He took a swig from his beer and shoved a chip into the sour cream mess. As he was bringing the potato chip to his mouth some of the dip fell off onto his lap. It probably wouldn't have happened if his eyes hadn't been glued to the TV screen and "Scully" in the shower. As the commercial ended he grabbed a paper towel and tried to clean the sour cream off his lap. It was not difficult to see why his jeans had felt so tight! Maybe another cold shower was in order... ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ After Scully's near miss with the car she forced herself to concentrate on her drive home. She decided to stop at the store for a few things for dinner. As she carried her basket down the aisles her eyes caught sight of a cereal package. The athlete on the cover was a swimmer. He was very well built and wearing a pair of black boxer type trunks. Scully flashed to a time when she had seen Mulder in a pair of black silk boxers as he recovered from smoke inhalation. The boxers had swished over his butt as he got up and moved to the bathroom. They were low enough so she could see his navel and the line of hair that headed southward. When she was in high school the girls would giggle and call that a mans' "treasure line". As Scully looked at the package again the face became Mulder's. He was giving her the "Mulder grin", that slightly lop-sided toothy one that made him look so boyish. His eyes were twinkling with a mischievous gleam and he was looking adorable. "Gotta buy milk!" Scully said aloud and forced herself to look away. She grabbed the cereal before she turned and headed for the dairy department. She got a quart of skim and then noticed the ice cream selection. She hadn't treated herself to ice cream in ages. She grabbed a pint of Ben and Jerry's "Chunky Monkey" and headed for the check-out before she went crazy. As the clerk scanned her box of cereal the "Mulder" face was still grinning at her and she could have sworn it winked. "Must be an X-File," she muttered under her breath. She paid her bill, grabbed her purchases and streaked for the car. As she settled into her seat, she took a deep breath and sighed. It didn't help that the car still had a lingering "Mulder smell" - that slightly musky, masculine aroma of sweat and aftershave that was strictly Mulder. After Scully arrived in her apartment she put away the ice cream and milk. She left the box of cereal on the counter. She never bought that kind of cereal. What was she thinking? As she looked at it this time it was the swimmer that was on the package. No Mulder. She went to the bedroom and hung up her good suit. He always likes this suit. He has commented on it several times and Mulder is not one to really notice such things. At least, he doesn't comment on them. I need to find another one like it, maybe in a green shade. Oh, damn, here we go again. Now I am planning my wardrobe around that infuriating, stubborn, selfish, ego-centric, passionate, tender, sensitive, gorgeous, brilliant, exciting, sexy, sensual, erotic .... (don't go there, Scully!) man.> Time for a bath! Scully ran her bath and added her favorite oil. She lit some candles and stepped in carefully. It was kind of decadent to be taking a bath in the early evening but she decided she needed to just relax. She lay her head back against the bath pillow and closed her eyes. She had just begun to drift off as she heard her phone ring. She began to get up to answer it but decided to let the machine pick up. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Mulder hung up after leaving his message on Scully's machine. "I hope she got home all right. She seemed a little rattled after looking over that crime scene," he said to himself. He set the phone down and continued to watch the game. He felt a little nauseous after eating almost a whole bag of chips and a pint of sour cream dip. He could just imagine the look Scully would give him if she knew he had just stuffed himself with junk food. She was always harping on his eating/lack of eating habits. He popped open another beer and leaned back on the couch. His mind began to drift off. He found himself in a field of green grass lying on a blanket. There was a picnic spread out in front of him and he was eating sunflower seeds. He was wearing jeans, a dark green T-shirt and sneakers. He thought he was alone until he saw someone walking toward him carrying a bunch of wildflowers. As the person came closer he saw it was Scully. She was smiling at him and looked very relaxed. A look that he hadn't seen in quite some time. Her hair was pulled back into that cute ponytail. She was wearing khaki shorts, a denim shirt and hiking boots. It was a good look on her. The blue in the faded denim shirt highlighted her eyes. She settled herself next to him on the blanket and grabbed a couple sunflower seeds. Then she reached into the picnic basket and brought out a bottle of wine and two plastic goblets. She poured a glass for each of them and they clinked them together. The plastic didn't have the ring of crystal and the sound made them both chuckle. After a small sip Scully looked at him with soft, warm eyes. She set down her glass and began to slowly rub her hand along his thigh. She inched closer to his groin and began stoking him through his jeans. He almost choked on his wine. He looked in her eyes and saw the lust and hunger there. He tossed his plastic glass aside on the grass, leaned over and took her in his arms. He kissed her with such passion that he knew he must have bruised her lips. He didn't care. She continued to stroke him and he could feel the reaction growing in his worn out jeans. As they tumbled down on the blanket, they continued to kiss and caress each other. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Scully eased her head back onto the bath pillow and listened as the answering machine clicked on. At first no one said anything. She then heard Mulder's voice. "Ah, ah... Hi, Scully. It's me. Ah, ah, um... I just wanted to make sure you got home OK. You seemed a little rattled after going over that crime scene today. Well, ah, well, ... give me a call when you get in, ok?" She remembered the way he had reacted when she told him about her cancer. He had stuttered and denied that there was nothing that could be done. Even though the memory of her cancer sent a chill through her she would never forget the way he had looked at her like a lost little boy trying to contain his emotions. He had been devastated. She knew he would do anything in his power to stop the cancer from taking her. And he had. She didn't know what he had done but she was convinced he had saved her with that chip. They'd never really talked about it after her remission. She'd tried to discuss it while they were in Florida but he was injured and, in his typical defensive way, he had just joked over the subject. It was too close to his heart as well as hers. To keep herself from becoming morose she decided to get out of the tub. She would call Mulder back in a few minutes. She didn't like him to worry but there was no way she could explain her mood from the afternoon. No, that would not do. As Scully stepped from the tub and dried herself off, she glanced in the mirror. She felt she was attractive, if a bit short and thin. Could he ever, in a million years, see her in a way other then as partners and platonic friends? She pulled on a pair of sweats and baggy T-shirt and went back into the kitchen. The cereal was "staring" at her. Again, it was Mulder's face. He was wearing the black Speedos and giving her a seductive, lascivious grin. The kind he wore when he joked to her about "getting turned on". She put the box into her pantry, grabbed a spoon and took the "Chunky Monkey" from the freezer. She flipped on the TV and channel surfed as she ate the ice cream. When she found an old, romantic movie on the movie classics station she stopped. As she tried to set the remote down and spoon a scoop of ice cream into her mouth at the same time some of the melting ice cream landed on the front of her T-shirt. "Damn!" she said as she grabbed a napkin to dab it off. She lightly rubbed the stain over her breast with the napkin. Then she rubbed a little harder. All of a sudden she had a vision of Mulder's hands on her. He was gently kneading her breasts as he lowered his head to kiss her hard on the lips. She closed her eyes and she was suddenly in a field of grass and wild flowers. She was lying on a blanket and there was a bottle of wine nearby. There were sunflower seeds scattered about the blanket. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Mulder's ringing phone rudely jolted him from his dream. "DAMN! We were just getting to the good stuff, too," he swore as he sat up. He grabbed the phone as fast as his now uncomfortably tight jeans would allow and practically shouted into the receiver. "MULDER." "Hi, Mulder! It's me. Thanks for calling earlier. I was in the bath." he told himself. "Anyway, I am fine. I was just tired and feeling the heat and the crime scene was ..." < stop rambling, Dana,> she told herself. She paused. "Hey, Scully. I was just thinking. I was reading about some strange sitings over in Lake Accotink Park. Seems some guy saw "Bigfoot". Want to go check it out tomorrow?" Mulder was pretty sure she would laugh him off but it was worth it just to hear her giggle. He loved her laugh. It was like wind chimes to his ears. He would never get enough of hearing it. "Sure, Mulder,"she responded cheerfully. "How about if we call in sick tomorrow and take our time? I could pack a picnic lunch and we can just relax for a change. We deserve a day off." "Sounds great!" Mulder said, trying to contain the shock in his voice. "I'll bring the sunflower seeds!" "And the wine, Mulder. Don't forget the wine!" Scully responded before she could stop herself. " Ah, OK, I'll pick you up around 10:00. See ya tomorrow, Scully." As Mulder set the phone back on its cradle he stared at it in shock.. Did that conversation really happen? Or was he still in his dream? ^^^^^^^the end^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Hmmmmmm. OK, so that's it. Hope you enjoyed my little flight of fantasy (oh, to be Scully!) and UST. If you want to, perhaps, see the UST become resolved ST then e-me. I may be persuaded to continue this foray. br_osen@hotmail.com
