SUMMARY: Just a brief look at Scully's thoughts after
the case in Patience (the 'nameplate incident').  


I put your nameplate away today, Mulder, but not
you... never you.  You remain with me, even now, when
I have no idea where you are.  I can sense your
presence, with me always.  I will continue your quest;
I will carry on for you.  I do not need a nameplate to
stare at to remember you, to mark the place of our
first meeting, and so much time spent together ever
since.  Memories of the years we spent together flash
in my mind's eye.  They surround me like bubbles blown
from a child's wand, made of a soapy wish.  I reach
out for them, but they pop in my face, and soon I
learn to just sit back and watch.  You are with me
like that, I can't touch you but you are there,
surrounding me, and I know I am not alone.  You are
always with me, in the form of a child growing inside
me.  And for that reason, I know I will find you, and
then, together, we can put your nameplate back on your
desk.

But for now it is enough to know that you are out
there, it has to be.  I must have patience.  But I
will never stop looking for you, I will never put your
case away.  I will find you, Mulder.
