SPOILER WARNING: Requiem!! RATING:PG CLASSIFICATION: vignette, post-ep SUMMARY: Dreams can come abounded, and with them bring new hope. AUTHOR'S NOTES: Requiem broke my heart. I needed to do something to get the angst out of my system. DISCLAIMER: You made me cry Chris, so now I'm fixing it! In Dreams by Keva E. Andersen She rolls over, and in sleep, reaches for the other side of the bed. In reality, the presence which her hands seek is far from home. But in dreams reality shifts and arms wrap themselves around her middle. Shadows of hands caress her swollen form and the life within her stirs, as if it senses what cannot be there. Images dance around her subconscious senses....his face, his laughter, the feel of his touch, the scent of his aftershave, his sweat. Clean and pure and almost tangible. Phantom kisses float soft against her cheek, sailing along the length of her neck. Whispers brush back the curly tendrils that frame her face. She sighs softly as the presence gently fades. Eyes flutter open. "Mulder" His name spoken breaks open the silence..but alone she remains...as ever. She buries her face in the pillows and breathes in so deep. There she finds it. Buried far underneath months of absence a faint scent still remains. A lingering hint of two bodies joined as one...a subtle remainder of what once was, what she prays will be again. Calm settles through her and sleep comes once more. Through the window he watches. Fingers pressed to lips, then fingers press against glass sealing his yet unspoken promise. "Soon" he whispers and recedes again, slowly, into the starlight. FINIS Author's Note: Many thanks to Nicki for super beta and for her wonderful encouraging reaction. This one is for you and C.A., dear friend. This was written while listening to "Rainwatching W.I." by Acoustic Alchemy. That always makes me cry.
