You know the drill... ====================== Scully sat at her desk in the cramped X-Files office. She was working on the report she and Mulder had to turn in on their most recent case by three that afternoon. She glanced over at her partner who sat at his own desk. He was engrossed in his expense report. An evil grin across his face as he found ways to write off the oddest of expenses. She rolled her eyes and turned to her computer monitor. ^I just can't get into this. It was an interesting enough case, it's just not fun to put on paper. . . in FBI style. Why do I always end up telling the tale in the reports, while Mulder amuses himself with. . . well whatever amuses him at the moment.^ With the thought Mulder seemed to do alittle bounce in his chair and began writing furiously. "Is that something I should know about, so I can add it to my report?" Mulder glanced up at Scully, an amused expression on his face. "Remember that mug I bought at that diner? I almost forgot to put that in here." "Oh you mean to one that says, `Alien Avenger'? How, pray tell, does that fit into the case? What did it have to do with solving it?" "Aw come on Scully. If we hadn't stopped in there to buy that mug, I'd have never met Jacob which means we'd never met Margie, who then introduced us to that psychic who pointed us in the direction of Darren who eventually led us to the killer." Scully arched an eyebrow. "I see, and. . ." "And if it wasn't for that mug, we'd still be out there looking for the truth." Scully sighed and rolled her eyes. She turned back to her computer screen. "I'm NOT putting that in this report." "Whatever suits you." Mulder turned back to finding a way to write off his souvenirs just as Scully's computer dinged. ^Thank heaven. An e-mail. Maybe it's Skinner with a new case. Or maybe it's Skinner telling me to take the rest of the day off. Or maybe it's someone who has fallen madly in love with me and hasn't had the guts to tell me.^ Scully glanced at Mulder quickly. ^Yeah right. I wish.^ Scully quickly opened her email account. She didn't recognize the name of the sender and the subject simply said `Hi!' Scully opened the email and began to read. It was obviously a forwarded message. >>>>>>>>Hey! You will be surprised at how well this works! Enjoy! ^Oh no. I should get to work and ignore this. I hate spam mail. Then again, maybe a nice distraction would be good for me. No Dana! Work. You must work. OH what the heck, this can't take long.^ She continued to read the message. >>>>>>>>INSTRUCTIONS: >>>>>>>>This is a test to determine how other people see you. There >>>>>>>are 10 questions. Get a pencil and paper. Write down each letter >>>>>>>signifying your answer. When finished, score those letters by >>>>>>>the points listed below. >>>>>>>> Add your points and compare to the result chart below. >>>>>>>> Test-HOW OTHER PEOPLE SEE YOU >>>>>>>> Keep track of your letter answers to these 10 questions. >>>>>>>> 1. When do you feel your best? >>>>>>>> (a) In the morning >>>>>>>> (b) During the afternoon and early evening >>>>>>>> (c) Late at night ^When do I feel my best? I guess (a). Afternoon and early evening. To stressful. Late at night. Too many weird things happen in this job late at night. I'd have to pick in the morning. (a) it is!^ Scully opened her word processing program to keep track of her answers. She didn't want to tip Mulder off to the fact that she had quit working on her report. . .for a few moments. >>>>>>>> 2. You usually walk >>>>>>>> (a) fairly fast, with long steps >>>>>>>> (b) fairly fast, but with short, quick steps >>>>>>>> (c) less fast, head up, looking the world in the face >>>>>>>> (d) less fast, head down >>>>>>>> (e) very slowly ^(a) No doubt about that! Too keep up with Mulder, I need all the help I can get. When he figures something out, or gets an idea he walks fast with long strides, leaving me behind. I have to do the same just to keep up. (a)^ >>>>>>>> 3. When talking to people, you >>>>>>>> (a) stand with your arms folded >>>>>>>> (b) have your hands clasped >>>>>>>> (c) have one or both your hands on your hips >>>>>>>> (d) touch or push the person to whom you are talking >>>>>>>> (e) play with your ear, touch your chin, or smooth your hair ^Let me think. (a) again.^ >>>>>>>> 4. When relaxing, you sit with >>>>>>>> (a) your knees bent and your legs neatly side by side >>>>>>>> (b) your legs crossed >>>>>>>> (c) your legs stretched out or straight >>>>>>>> (d) with one leg curled under you ^Let me look up the word relax. What does that mean again? It isn't a part of my vocabulary anymore. But, I guess I'd have to say (d).^ >>>>>>>> 5. When something really amuses you, you react with >>>>>>>> (a) a big, appreciative laugh >>>>>>>> (b) a laugh, but not a loud one >>>>>>>> (c) a quiet chuckle >>>>>>>> (e) a sheepish smile ^Since Mulder amuses me a lot, I should know this one. Either (c) or (e). I guess (c). I chuckle to myself usually. I don't give a sheepish smile. That' s Mulder's style. No big appreciative laughs. Yeah I chuckle. I wonder if whoever sent this realizes there is no (d) choice. Maybe that is meant to amuse me. (c) it is.^ >>>>>>>> 6. When you go to a party or social gathering, you >>>>>>>> (a) make a loud entrance so everyone notices you >>>>>>>> (b) make a quiet entrance, looking around for someone you know >>>>>>>> (c) make quietest possible entrance and try to stay unnoticed ^Social gathering. Um, (c)? I'm not a wallflower, but I don't like to be the center of attention. That's not true either. I do like being in charge, which means being at the center of attention. Actually, I guess (b) suits me better than (c). I don't hide in the corner.^ >>>>>>>> 7. You are working hard, concentrating hard. You are >>>>>>>> interrupted. You: >>>>>>>> (a) welcome the break >>>>>>>> (b) feel extremely irritated >>>>>>>> (c) vary between these two extremes ^I should know this one too. In this job (a) is out of the question. I don't welcome breaks, because time is too valuable. I don't think I get that irritated either. (c) I suppose.^ >>>>>>>> 8. Which of the following colors do you like most? >>>>>>>> (a) red or orange >>>>>>>> (b) black >>>>>>>> (c) yellow or light blue >>>>>>>> (d) green >>>>>>>> (e) dark blue or purple >>>>>>>> (f) white >>>>>>>> (g) brown or gray ^Favorite color. (c) light blue. I like how it brings out my eyes. Save me from having to wear too much eyeshadow too. I wear a lot of black though. It seems to match this job. But, the light blue contrasts it nicely. Brightens it a bit.^ >>>>>>>> 9. When you are in bed at night, in those last few moments >>>>>>>> before going to sleep, you lie >>>>>>>> (a) stretched out on your back >>>>>>>> (b) stretched out face down on your stomach >>>>>>>> (c) on your side, slightly curled >>>>>>>> (d) with your head on one arm >>>>>>>> (e) with your head under the covers ^Laying on my back usually lets me think clearly. Lets me work through the problems of the day so can finally relax. But to finally fall asleep (d). That's my most comfortable position. One more to go.^ >>>>>>>> 10. You often dream that you are >>>>>>>> (a) falling >>>>>>>> (b) fighting or struggling >>>>>>>> (c) searching for something or somebody >>>>>>>> (d) flying or floating >>>>>>>> (e) You usually have a dreamless sleep >>>>>>>> (f) You're dreams are always pleasant ^Have I ever had really pleasant dreams? Not that I can remember. I'm always either running from or after something. (c) is the best answer, though (b) creeps in when we are on a particularly hard case.^ Scully scrolled down to get her score. 1.. a: 2 2.. a: 6 3.. a: 4 4.. d: 1 5.. c: 3 6.. b: 4 7.. c: 4 8.. c: 5 9.. d: 2 10.. c: 3 Scully totaled her score and searched looked up what it described her as. 2+6+4+1+3+4+4+5+2+3=34 >>>>>>>> FROM 31 TO 40 POINTS: >>>>>>>> Other people see you as sensible, cautious, careful, and >>>>>>>> practical. Those who >>>>>>>> really get to know you realize that it takes a lot to shake >>>>>>>> your trust in your friends, but, equally, that it >>>>>>>> takes you along time to get over it if that trust is broken. "That's true you know." Scully jumped at the sound of Mulder's voice behind her. "Sorry. I didn't mean to scare you." Scully turned slightly to look Mulder in the eye. "How long have you been standing there?" Mulder gave a sheepish smile. "Oh since about question three." "That long!?" "Yeah. I thought your answers where interesting. They tell a lot about you. A lot of things I have known and noticed, but haven't taken time to realize." Scully turned completely around as Mulder leaned back against her desk. "What's that, Mulder?" "Like how you stand when you talk to people. That's major body language there. When I read that question I realized how much you do stand with your arms folded. That often signifies that you are on defense. You don't want to believe what you are hearing. Funny, you stand like that talking to me a lot." "Well, you have to admit, Mulder, that I don't want to believe most of what you say." Mulder nodded and closed his eyes slightly. "What about you're dreams? `Searching for something or somebody.' Have any ideas what you are searching for?" ^If you only knew. If you only knew.^ "The same thing you are, Mulder. The truth. Answers to everything that has happened to me. To us." "Is that the only thing you search for?" "Mulder, if I recall correctly, you are not a practicing psychologist." "And you're point is?" "You get my point." They stared at each other for a few moments. Eye contact never broke. ^I won't let him win. I won't let him IN.^ "You win, Scully. This time. But that is only because we have thirty minutes to get this report on Skinner's desk. Those are interesting results. I'd like to continue discussing them." "Maybe someday Mulder. Like you said, we have a deadline to meet." "Not someday, Scully. Tonight." Scully sighed. Mulder hadn't moved off of her desk yet and continued to stare at her, even after she broke eye contact. "Mulder. . ." "Think about it, Scully. By the way, forward that message to me. I'd like to answer them so we can discuss my results too." ^Now that should be interesting.^ "OK, Mulder." "Ok, you'll send the email or Ok, you have dinner with me to discuss the results." "Both." THE END
