"Into the Fire"
by Amatia

"Hast thou found me, O mine enemy?" I Kings, 21:20

The cab ride to Mulder's apartment was tense, my stomach clentching
and unclentching, in fear, in excitement, in sudden hot arousal. I paid no
attention to the flashing streetlights of Alexandria, all I could think
about was Mulder.

In front of his apartment building, I paid the driver, and exited
the taxi.

The door to the lobby as unlocked, as it had been every other time
I'd been here. I took the elevator to his floor, trying to calm my pounding
heart. Nyet on the stairs, Alexei, you don't need to go in there looking
like a wildman.

I knew he was there, I had seen the light from the street. So I
stopped in front of apartment 42, raised my hand, and knocked on the door.

Mulder opened it, wearing grey suit pants and a white shirt, opened
at the neck, exposing his throat, and no tie. His eyes met mine, and I
guess he read what was there, because he didn't say anything.

I feel disjointed, and he doesn't speak.

	Dammit, say something!

I opened my mouth to say something, anything. He grabbed my arm,
and pulled me into the apartment. "I knew you'd come," he hissed in my ear.
"I knew you couldn't stay away, Alex."

I found that now, I was the one who didn't speak.

We stood in the dim foyer of his apartment, and I was sure he could
hear my heart beating. Mulder seemed to be perfectly calm in contrast to my
agitation. He laughed at my expression, and pushed me back up against the
wall. "Alex, Alex, Alex," he whispered, his lips inches from mine. "I
remember a time when you at least tried. Now you're just letting me control
you."

"I only have one hand," I replied, my voice rough, and he threw
back his head in laughter.

"You must be stupid if you don't know that I know what you came for."

"And what did I come for, Mulder?"

"Whatever it is I want to give you, Krycek." He moved back, away
from me, and I had to focus on keeping my back against the wall so I didn't
go to him. He walked into the living room, his hips swaying ever so
slightly.

It stuck me suddenly that it was only yesterday that he'd bitten my
shoulder while I'd been held hostage beneath his body.

"Feels like weeks since you've seen me last, doesn't it?" he asked,
folding his long, lean body onto the couch. It was like he'd read my mind.
"Come now, sit beside me. I won't hurt you, Alex." He grinned, fiendishly.
"At least, not unless you want me to."

	I couldn't stand this.

I wanted him, but I didn't want him like this.

I turned away from the scene, and he flew across the apartment to
slam against the door. "Oh, no," he laughed. "You're not getting away. Not
now."

Was this the Mulder I used to know? This Mulder, here, who
instinctively knew all of my desires - and my fears? This Mulder, who
obviously knew that I wanted control of him - and at the same time,
subconsciously wanted him to control me?

My body was on fire, and my mind was telling me to run.

Mulder reached out, and grabbed the front of my sweatshirt. "Don't
even think about it, Alex!"

He was close, too close, and my next breath was ragged, gasping.
"Mulder..."

	And then he kissed me.

Another passive-Krycek....hmmm....seems to be a trend w/ me lately...
