Date: 13 Sep 1998 01:16:58 GMT Subject: *NEW* Iris-Songfic TITLE: Iris AUTHOR: The Fourth Gunman ;D E-MAIL: bouvierb@freenet.edmonton.ab.ca CLASSIFICATION: Vignette, Fluff, UST SUMMARY: Mulder is awake one night with a song stuck in his head. FEEDBACK: OOH yes yes yes yes! DISCLAIMER: I do not own Mulder or Scully, 'cause if I did, I'd be rich and named Chris Carter or FOX or ten-thirteen productions, and I don't really want any of those names. I also borrowed the song 'Iris' by the GooGoo Dolls, which is awesome. Don't sue me, unless you want me to pay off my debt by writing scripts... Hm... Maybe that wouldn't be such a bad thing.... AUTHORS NOTE:Okay, this was written on the 26th and 27th of July, a couple of hours before I went on vacation with my family. It's pretty sappy, but it was also almost midnight. Okay, here it is. In all of it's fluffy glory. It's almost midnight, and I can't sleep, and my family's driving 15 hours at seven o'clock... And I can't sleep! Anyways, this is a song fic (my first ever), and I'm not sure what's gonna happen. The song's Iris, by the Goo Goo Dolls. 'Iris' "And I just want you to know who I am." The lone lyric was stuck in Fox Mulder's head. He had heard it during their last case, when he was interviewing a teenage suspect. She had started to sing that song. "What song is that?" Mulder had asked. The teenager had reacted in the normal teenage way when a person in authority asks a question, she mumbled the answer. Something about the Goo Goo Dolls. Mulder had shrugged, and continued his interrogation. But now, as he lay awake, he suddenly needed to know the rest of the lyrics. He had that funny feeling that usually meant something. Going online, Mulder went to the Ultimate Band List (www.ubl.com) and looked up the GooGoo dolls. He found a site marked 'lyrics' and went to that. Scanning the titles, he realized just how little he knew about the song. But one title stuck out. He kept returning to it, over and over, but not opening. He was almost afraid of what he would find. Working up his courage, "This is stupid. It's a *GD* song, Mulder", he finally opened it. Reading through the lyrics, he was shocked. "Do they know me?" he asked himself. This song described his feelings for Dana Scully almost perfectly. "And I just want you to know who I am..." He said quietly. Then he turned off his computer, and went to bed. X Scully walked into the office, and found Mulder missing. She shrugged, and started doing paper work. But she also checked if she had any new mail. She did. She opened up the letter with no subject, and read what appeared to be the lyrics to a song. She could almost hear herself singing it, to her partner. "And I don't want the world to know, 'cause I don't thing that they'd understand..." She sang, tunelessly. She had never heard the song before. Mulder wasn't in the office all day, and Scully was worried. He didn't answer his phone at home, and his cell was turned off. Making a quick decision, she left the office to go to Mulders' apartment, with a quick stop at her own to change. Opening her door, at her apartment, Scully gasped slightly. Mulder was sleeping on her couch. Walking over to him, she smiled as she studied his sleeping features. A face that was always so pained in waking moments looked completely innocent right now, in sleep. Still, she had to know why he was here. Shaking his shoulder gently, she slowly woke him up. Mulder opened his eyes, and looked at her. Smiling, he asked if she had gotten his e-mail, and looked at her. She looked a little confused, until he said "And I don't want to go home right now." Scully smiled with real feeling, and hugged her partner. "Then stay." She said quietly, and both of them fell asleep in each other's arms. 'Iris'-The Goo Goo Dolls And I'd give up forever to touch you Cause I know that you feel me somehow You're the closest to heaven that I've ever been And I don't want to go home right now And all I can taste is this moment And all I can breathe is your life And sooner or later it's over I just don't want to miss you tonight And I don't want the world to see me Cause I don't think that they'd understand When everything's made to be broken I just want you to know who I am And you can't fight the teats that ain't coming Or the moment of truth in your lies When everything feels like the movies And you bleed just to know you're alive And I don't want the world to see me Cause I don't think that they'd understand When everything's made to be broken I just want you to know who I am ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well? I wanna sleep. I wuz hoping that this would tire me out, but I'm still too damn awake. (Hey, it's now Monday, and also 12:17AM. I have a right to be foul tempered.) Oh, and I also want to suggest a new classification. The OMG3AM. It means 'Oh my gosh, it's three AM!' I think it would be a good way to classify this story.
