Nah...some angst. Spoilers: Up to This is not Happening. Disclaimer: They are not mine, they are 1013's creation, I just borrowed them. Summary: A short story from Doggett's POV after Scully's breakdown. Enjoy it! Feedback will be greatly appreciated. It hurts by Randi It hurts when you try to help someone and that person won't let you into her world. It hurts when you try to help someone and that person keep secrets from you. It hurts so much to see her like this. It hurts knowing that this is also hurting her unborn child. All I wanted to do was to help her find him; find him alive, but I failed. I failed her and I know she is hurt. We found Mulder's body this night. There is a smell of confusion in the air. The policemen said that something similar to an unidentified flying object stopped over the building. There are plenty of witnesses here. All of them saw the same thing Agent Reyes saw; the same thing AD Skinner told me he saw when he disappeared. How can I write a report denying the events that happened a few minutes ago? "AD Skinner, how is she?" "The paramedics are taking her to the nearest hospital. She just had a nervous breakdown. It is no good for her nor the baby." I look at my boss. Words can't come out of my mouth. I'm speechless. I failed her. "I have been there, Agent Doggett. All these years supervising their job was not an easy task. I know how you feel and I know how she feels." "Sir, I need to apologize." "Agent Doggett?" "Yes, Sir. I mean. When I was assigned to this case I couldn't believe your story, I couldn't believe Agent Scully's theories." The iron man is standing there, looking at me. "It hasn't been easy for her either. Do you understand what happened here, Agent Doggett? Do you understand what happened this night to Agent Scully?" "Sir, I... I..." "No, it seems that you can't understand, Agent Doggett. Agent Scully was assigned to the X-Files to debunk Agent Mulder's work. During the past eight years she has reported hundred of cases through the eyes of a scientist. Do you get it, Agent Doggett?" "Excuse me." One of the paramedics interrupts our conversation. "Which one of you is AD Skinner?" "I'm Skinner. Is he going to be okay? How is the baby?" "She is in stable condition, but we need to take her to the nearest hospital. We already contacted her mother, she is on her way; we are waiting for you." "Sir, is there something I can do?" "Agent Doggett, Agent Scully needs all the support she can get. This is not easy for her. She has to fight now for the baby. Eight years, Agent Doggett, and suddenly she has witnessed it all. You heard the policemen. The worst part is what happened to her partner." "But it hurts seeing her like this, Sir. I have been there, that's why it hurts." "Agent Doggett, I will go with her, you take care of everything here." I observe AD Skinner as he walks to the ambulance and wraps his arms around her. She starts crying again. It's amazing how this strong woman looks so fragile in his arms. No more lies. No more secrets. It hurts. FIN Find back will be greatly appreciated at danasdds@yahoo.com.
