Feedback: mercury_999@hotmail.com XxXxX The cries of the desperate man are now silenced. He lays motionless, without any signs of life. The truth has finally dawned upon him: what he has spent his whole life searching for has consumed his body, mind and soul. One final mass abduction had abolished the world of those who claimed to know what's out there. He went with them. He knows it was his choice to come here, and it mentally attacks him day after day. It's not the tests, nor the experiments that torture him; it's his memory. He sits in silence, without moving, without breathing, watching the past play back before his eyes. He first sees his last moments on Earth, barely able to make out the words his boss yelled into the darkness. He feels his partners embrace when he told her that she could not come with him; then he feels her tears. He sees his sister, finally freed from the experience that devastated his life 28 years ago. The cases of the past six years become a blur, as the more he remembers, the more he forgets. A single tear forms in his unseeing eye. It's the remains of all he had hoped to accomplish, and all of the things he had neglected doing. But it was even more than that. In this single tear he sees a vision; his resurrection of the past and a glimpse of the future. She's his future. He can see her staring longingly at the sky, with tears falling down her cheeks. He can hear her thoughts of hope. He realizes for the first time the selfishness of his decision. They didn't take him; he took himself. The life he had led was a constant struggle, but it was a struggle that had been rewarded. He had found her. Now he hears her whispered promise to wait for him. Her few uttered words speak volumes to him, and he promises himself that he will return to her. XxXxX FINIS mercury_999@hotmail.com XxXxX
