Challenge # 12 for September 2000. "Je Souhaite With A Twist" By: Jessie Harris Having just finished their case on the magical genie that could grant wishes, Mulder and Scully returned to the hotel to pack. Mulder was standing at the foot of the bed packing when he heard a noise in the bathroom. His head immediately snapped up. instinctively, Mulder's right hand unholstered his gun and held it in the air as he quietly approached the bathroom. Gun aimed, Mulder slowly pushed the bathroom door open with the tip of his shoe. He checked in the bathtub and behind the door before he noticed it. A charm. Mulder remembered seeing it hanging in the storage shed where the genie had been found. The item was small and was the shape of a star. The star was gold, swirled with silver, and had six sides. Mulder picked it up from the sink and examined it closely. There, in the center of the star was an eye. Mulder practically jumped out of his skin when the eye blinked at him. "What the hell?" Mulder blinked a few times and looked at the object again. Suddenly there was a bright flash of light. After the initial brightness of the flash subsided Mulder found a young girl standing in front of him. The girl looked to be about 13 years old and had waist length, blonde, curly hair. She had the most amazing color of green eyes that Mulder had ever seen. There seemed to be light emanating out of the girl's every pore. She stood in front of him in a white, elegant dress and bare feet. Mulder's eyes widened even more than they already were when he saw wings behind her. Still holding his gun in the air, Mulder spoke, "Who are you?" "My name is Angeline." "*What* are you?" "I am the faerie of time." "The faerie of time? What is that supposed to mean?" Mulder adjusted his weight from one foot to the other. "Just what I said, Mr. Mulder. I'm the faerie of time. I control time. I can stop it, rewind it... I can even fast forward it." She paused before continuing. "I was hoping you'd notice my charm this time. You overlooked me in the storage shed." She slightly frowned at the memory as Mulder holstered his gun. "What do you want from me?" "I want to help you. I can help you fix anything you may have done wrong. All you have to do is tell me what time period you wish to go back to and I can take you back to do whatever you desire over again." Angeline smiled as she continued, "Or you can visit the future to see your destiny. But I must warn you, if you go back and redo something it will be as if nothing after that ever existed. Everything after that moment you'll have to do all over again. If you don't like the results the second time around you're out of luck. You only get one chance." "You mean, if I went back 25 years I'd be doing all 25 years over again?" "Yes, but not only you. The whole universe will, too. Only, you, Mr. Mulder, will have knowledge of what's been done. Nobody else will have the slightest clue. Think hard about it because the outcome the second time around could be completely different from what you know now. You have ten minutes to make a decision." For the next ten minutes Mulder contemplated if he should go back and prevent his sister's abduction. *But if I go back* Mulder thought *chances are, I won't know Scully...* Suddenly an idea struck him and he grinned. "Your time is up, Mr Mulder. If you haven't made a decision then you are too late," Angeline said sweetly. Mulder raked his hand through his hair and sighed lightly and then grinned again. "I want to go back seven hours from now." "Seven hours?" Angeline asked. "Yes. Seven hours back." "Okay." With a snap of Angeline's fingers, Mulder found himself back at the garage where he found the genie rolled in the rug. This time, before unrolling it however, he pulled out his cell phone and hit speed dial. "Scully." "Hey, Scully, it's me. Can you come down to the storage shed?" "Why, what have you got?" Mulder grinned. "I want to show you something." "I'm on my way." * * * * * * * * * "Okay, Mulder, what do you want to show me?" Scully asked as she stepped into the garage. "Unroll that rug," Mulder pointed down at the rolled up rug. "What does this have to do with the investigation, Mulder?" "Everything." "How, Mulder? It's a rug. Unless you're going to tell me it's like the one in 'Aladdin' and flies around." "No, the genie is in the rug." "Mulder, there is no such thing as a genie." "Just bare with me here, Scully." He pleaded with her. "Okay, from what I know... the genie lives in this rug..." Scully smirked. "I thought genies lived in lamps, Mulder." "Not this one. Unroll the rug, Scully. Then you'll see." "Then I'll get my three wishes?" She said with a quirk of her eyebrow. "Maybe." Mulder grinned. Scully gave him the look. The one that she uses when she thinks Mulder is crazy. She kneeled down and unrolled the rug slowly. * * * * * * * * * "What did I tell you, Scully?" Mulder grinned as he drove towards their hotel. "Okay, Mulder, so the woman was sleeping in a rug. Big deal." "I'm telling you... ask a wish and she'll grant it." "Mulder, we left her back at the shed." "Back here," they heard from the back seat. Scully turned around in her seat and looked wide-eyed at the woman. "How..." "Don't you ever listen to your partner? Now, I'm not going to go away until you make your wishes." "Go on, Scully, make a wish." Mulder grinned. "Fine." She sighed. "What should I wish for?" "You could always wish to invisible..." Mulder quipped with a smile. "Right." Scully smirked. "I guess it couldn't hurt, seems how it's not possible." "Come on, Scully. You examined that body." "I don't know what I did, Mulder." "Just make your wish already," they heard from the back seat. "Fine. I wish that Mulder and I could become invisible at will." "Done." "Scully looked over at Mulder. "We're still visible, Mulder." "Yeah, you said 'at will,' Scully. You have to think that you want to be invisible to become invisible." "Fine." Mulder pulled in the parking lot of the hotel and parked the car. As he cut the engine he looked over at Scully and smiled. "It worked." Scully looked over at him. "What?" Mulder pointed at her. "Your clothes are there, but you aren't..." Scully looked down at her hands and gasped. "Oh, my God! Mulder! I can't see my hands!" Mulder smirked, "What did I tell you, Scully?" "How come my clothes are still visible?" "You never specified that your clothes would become invisible too, Scully." "Mulder, how the hell is this possible?!" Mulder, trying desperately not to laugh, replies, "You're the scientist." Suddenly Scully reappeared. "Nice." Mulder smiled. After getting over the initial shock, Scully grinned and looked at Mulder. "Genie, I wish that the clothes I'm wearing whenever I want to be invisible will also be invisible, and the same goes for Mulder when he wants to be invisible." * * * * * * * * * Three days later Basement Office at the J. Edgar Hoover Building Mulder looked up from his computer to see Scully sitting across from him with a wicked grin. Mulder arched an eyebrow at her. "What is that nasty grin for, Scully?" "Oh, nothing." She was still grinning. "Did you fall asleep with a hanger in your mouth or something?" Ignoring his question she asked, "Are you done with the expense report yet?" Sometimes Mulder could make some of the most bizarre comments. "Uh, yeah." Scully watched as Mulder clicked a few buttons on his computer screen and switched off his computer. When Mulder looked back up at her, she was still grinning like that damn Cheshire Cat on "Alice in Wonderland." Whenever Scully looked at him this way he always would get the sudden urge to just ravish her. Mulder shook his head to get the unpartnerly thoughts he was having to leave his mind. It didn't work though. "Mulder? Are you okay?" "Huh? Oh, yeah, of course I am. It's five, Scully, let's get out of here." Mulder stood up and threw on his jacket. "I'll see you tomorrow, Scully." "Um, actually, Mulder... I kind of had something in mind... that is, if you don't mind staying after." There was that God awful grin again. "What do you mean?" "Well, I thought maybe we could have a little fun..." Her grin widened. Mulder swallowed hard. "What exactly do you have in mind?" Suddenly Scully disappeared. "Scully?" "I'm here, Mulder. Did you forget about my wish already?" "Uh... no..." "Follow me, Mulder." "I would, but you just became the next Houdini..." Mulder felt her take his hand. "Now it's your turn... make yourself invisible." Without releasing her hand, Mulder thought about being invisible. "That's better." Scully led him to the door and opened it, shutting the light off on the way out. A few minutes later Mulder found himself at the door to Skinner's office. "Scully, what are we doing at Skinner's office?" Mulder whispered. "I want to ruffle his feathers a little. He's always doing it to us... and now it's our turn to give him a little payback." Mulder grinned. "Scully I didn't know you were the type for revenge..." "That's just because you don't know my naughty side, Mulder." She said seductively near his ear. Mulder shuddered. * * * * * * * * * Inside his office, Skinner was going over Scully's field report from their last case when he saw the door to his office open. He looked up at the door to see no one in the open doorway. "Who's there?" No response. Suddenly the door slammed shut. Skinner stood up and was forcefully pushed back into his chair as the chair was pulled to the center of the room. With him in it, his chair began to swirl around and around, faster and faster. Then suddenly the chair stopped spinning. The look Mulder and Scully saw on Skinner's face was utterly hilarious. The two agents were having a bit of a struggle to keep themselves from laughing and giving themselves away. The two of them watched with amused smiles as Skinner stood up and practically raced out of the room. Once Mulder and Scully were sure he was gone, the two of them burst out laughing. Scully was laughing so hard she was on the verge of tears. Mulder followed the sound of Scully's laughter and found her face with his hands. Both of their laughter silenced when Scully felt Mulder's lips suddenly press to hers. The next thing she knew, she was being pressed against Skinner's desk. She used her arm to clear the desk off, then pulled herself to sit on the edge of it. She wrapped her legs around his waist and her arms around his neck as she pulled him closer to her and deepend their kiss. One thing led to another, and before they knew it, they were making love on Assistant Director Walter Skinner's desk while they were both still invisible. But wasn't that what made their first time together so exciting? Doing it on their AD's office, on his desk, while still invisible. God knows Mulder and Scully enjoyed it. "By the way, Scully... what *was* your final wish?" "I freed the genie." -FINI- Comments, PLEASE! I will eat them for my after dinner snack! :)
