Fox Mulder, Dana Scully, the X-Files, and anything even remotely related to the X-Files belongs to Chris Carter, 1013 productions, FOX, and probably a slue of other people as well. Limp Bizkit, the Goo-Goo Dolls, and Stroke 9 in no way belong to me either, I just really like them! So, in conclusion, Please Don't Sue! Trust me ya won't get much! Author's Notes: Hey y'all it's Liz!! This is my first ever foray into the wonderful world of fanfic, so please don't be too rough! Ha, not really, be rough, I don't mind! Anyway, my very good friend Nat (who, incidentally, was the inspiration for the character, she also edited and critiqued this story and she's a huge Hanson fan) insisted on writing something here, so here she is! "Hi! And welcome to Liz's super-special, really cool X-Files fanfic! If you are wondering who I am, I am the super-special, really cool fanfic helper (Natalie). Well, I guess all I can say is enjoy the story! " She wrote that in my little notebook, so its all her words not mine! OK, when there's something written in these: < >, it means the person is thinking. Give Me Feedback! *she yelled vehemently at the computer* Give Me My Feedback!!!! XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX April 4th, 2000 Fox Mulder's apartment, 7:11am Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep! The alarm went off and woke Fox Mulder up. He was *not* a morning person. Not at all. "Damn it." he muttered as his arm snaked out from beneath the sheets to hit the annoying little alarm clock and shut it up. It was unseasonably warm, considering it was just spring. He reluctantly got up and pulled on some shorts and one of those gray shirts that he had a sneaking suspicion Scully didn't mind looking at. ;) He put on his Walkman and headed out the door. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX The other side of town, 37th street, Orion apartment complex, apt. 77, 7:30am "C'mon Dana!" Natalie Hanson said loudly, rousing her friend from what appeared to be a very peaceful slumber. "Nooo, just five more minutes" she grumbled "C'mon, you can't be late for work!" Natalie nagged "I know, I know" she mumbled getting out of bed, "Just gimmie some coffee and I'll be up" "OK, one sec" Natalie stuck her head out the door and yelled, "Hey Tay, honey, will you get Dana and I some coffee? ThanX!" "Well, are you gonna leave and let me shower in peace?" Dana questioned. "Oh, yeah, sorry, I'll be back in a few minutes with some coffee." Natalie replied. "Oh, and Nat-?" she said before her friend went out the door "thanX so much for letting me stay here." She smiled warmly and Natalie mirrored her action before exiting the room. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Sunday night, Dana Scully's apartment "What?" Scully asked incredulously "You heard me, I said the your whole floor's being fumigated, so you have to find a place to stay from Tuesday through Saturday night." "Fine" She gave an exasperated sigh and hung up the phone. "Dammit!" she mumbled. Too much time with him, especially sleeping in the same space when they weren't knocked out or in the hospital, would definitely lead her to act on her feelings, and she didn't want to jeopardize their relationship because it was so good already. The only better relationship was one in which they both loved each other and tried to live a quasi-normal existence. Naturally her next thought was about her very good friend Natalie. The two had met in seventh grade and had kept in touch after her father was re-stationed. Natalie's family had moved to DC when she was about 14, and when Scully moved to DC, they had hooked up and now they talked all the time. Natalie had recently moved very close to Scully after her and her (now husband) boyfriend had gotten married. His name was Taylor and they'd been dating for awhile. She was happy that Natalie was happy. Scully rushed to the phone and dialed the familiar number. She remembered many a night when she would call her friend for comfort after Mulder had disappeared, or if they'd been in a fight, when she found out she had cancer, when it went into remission, or when she just wanted to talk. Nat had been the first one she'd told about being in love with Mulder, and she'd always felt very close to Natalie, sort of like a sister. After she'd called her and asked her about staying at her and Taylor's place, Nat had immediately complied. Scully shoved some stuff into a bag and simply left. She didn't tell Mulder about this because he would insist that she come stay with him and she didn't feel like telling him no and then explaining her reasons. Oh, make no mistake, she would tell him someday, just not today. She made sure the lights and oven were off, shut all the windows and headed off to Natalie's XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX 36th street, 7:42 am Mulder ran down the street fairly fast, seeing as there weren't many people out and about at nearly quarter of eight. He was listening to a rock station when he heard that Goo-Goo Dolls song "Iris". He slowed down for a second to really listen to the lyrics And I'd give up forever to touch you 'Cause I know that you feel me somehow You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be And I don't wanna go home right now And all I can taste is this moment And all I can breathe is your life And sooner or later it's over I just don't wanna miss you tonight Chorus: And I don't want the world to see me 'Cause I don't think that they'd understand When everything's made to be broken I just want you to know who I am And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming Or the moment of truth in your lies When everything feels like the movies And you bleed just to know you're alive He kept on running, still contemplating the song, but no longer talking to himself. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Natalie Hanson residence, 37th street, apartment 77, Orion apartment complex 7:50am Scully had taken a quick shower and out on a bathrobe and taken her cup of coffee onto the balcony to enjoy the weather. It was beautiful out, and since she'd be in the basement office all day, she wanted to soak up the radiance of everything. She loved her job, but wouldn't mind getting out a bit more. She just realized she'd left the radio on after she was done showering. No one knew, but she secretly loved to sing in the shower. She went in to turn it off, but the song "Little Black Backpack" by Stroke 9 came on, and the DJ announced that they would be playing Limp Bizket next, so she brought the radio out with her, shut the sliding glass door, and blasted the music. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX 37th street, below the Orion apartment complex, the sidewalk 7:51 am Mulder had turned off his Walkman because there was nothing good on, and had begun to enjoy the silence, when the rough voice of Fred Durst telling him where to stick his cookie assaulted his ears. He immediately stopped to see where the music was coming from, now curious. He looked up and saw a small radio on a balcony. Next to it he spotted a woman. She was a petite redhead and was wearing a bathrobe and obviously singing along. She was beautiful. He couldn't see her face, but he knew. Somehow he knew. She went on drinking coffee and singing, oblivious to her admirer. Then his Id started talking Than the other half of his brain-the rational half- jumped in and said The Id spoke back XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Scully quickly looked around to make sure no one had heard her singing along with Fred Durst. She turned the music down and looked around. She didn't see anyone except for the runner on the sidewalk. Then she actually looked at the runner. Mmmmm, he was certainly easy on the eyes. He had brown hair and a really great ass. She admired him for another second then went in and got dressed. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Thursday, April 6th 37th street, the sidewalk beneath the Orion apartment complex The beautiful woman had been there everyday, and Mulder hoped she would be there tomorrow XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Mmmmm, there's that runner again. If he's here tomorrow, maybe I'll go down and talk to him. Her Id said. Then the reasonable, rational side took over. I do. Geez, you're beginning to sound like him. "Trust No One"> As usual, her rational side prevailed, and she decided to ogle the runner instead of talking to him. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX Friday April 7th 37th street, Orion apartment complex 7:52 am Mulder looked up. She was there. Omigod, she was there. Mulder went in and quickly found the apartment. He had counted how many apartments up and across it was, and was finally there. He steeled himself and knocked firmly on the door three times. A rather tall brunette wearing a beautiful orange sundress opened the door and regarded him warily. "Who are you?" she asked "Oh, I'm sorry, I must have the wrong apartment. Sorry." He began to walk away, when he heard her voice again. "Hey, sorry bout that, I was just acting kind of paranoid. Haven't had my coffee yet!" she smiled and continued "Um, do I know you from somewhere? Work perhaps?" "I don't think so, do you work at the FBI?" "Nope, what's your name?" "Mulder." "Just Mulder?" "Yes. What's your name?" "Natalie Hanson." Her eyes widened as the realization hit her like a freight train. "Oh yes! You're Dana's partner, aren't you?! I've heard a lot about you. I'm her friend." "Yeah, that's right. You were at one of those macabre FBI events, weren't you?" "Yep, a few years ago, actually, that's where I met my husband Taylor. He doesn't work there, but he was also dragged along by a friend. Dana brought me, and we met and really hit it off." "Just curious, but what kinds of things does she say about me?" "One second, I'll go get her." Natalie's tiny grin puzzled Mulder, and when she saw his obvious puzzlement, she did a full-fledged grin and went off to get Dana. Scully came to the door in pajamas and a bathrobe. Mulder nearly fell over. Scully nearly fell over. She realized that she was staring and opened the door to let him in. "ThanX" he said "Why aren't you at home?" he questioned "Because it's being fumigated" she quickly changed the topic. "So, why are you here? Do you know Nat or Tay?" "No. This is gonna sound really stupid, but I guess I came here to see you." "But you didn't know I was here."she stated, puzzled "No, but-" he was beginning to blush "I saw a beautiful woman on the balcony drinking coffee and singing, and after seeing her-you- everyday after Tuesday, I came up here to ask her-you- out." "And you were the runner with the great ass" she said more to herself than to Mulder. Mulder was grinning "Did you just say I had a nice ass?" She was blushing furiously now "Mmmmaybe" "So," he said changing the topic "why didn't you tell me you needed a place to stay?" "Um, I dunno" she said looking away. "Come on, what's the real reason?" "I'd rather not say." "Why? Don't you trust me? I thought that after all this time-" "Thought what?" "That, maybe, you trusted me, and in trusting me you could see how much I love you. " his voice was a whisper now "and hopefully how much you love me." "Of course I trust you" Scully said, and then her voice also became a whisper "and I've always loved you." "Why didn't you tell me you needed a place to stay?" "For this reason actually" "What do you mean?" "Well, I was afraid that if we were that close for a prolonged period of time, I would tell you my feelings and destroy what we had." "That's how I felt too. And, if you remember, I *have* told you that I love you." he was smiling now "Yes, but you were high on painkillers." "Truth be told, they gave me the painkillers *after* you came in" "So, what now?" "I don't know. I one thing I do know, however, is that I will always love you and can't live without you." he pulled her closer to him and their lips met. At first both were hesitant, but it was Scully who slipped Mulder the tongue and he happily did the same. They kissed passionately for a full minute until they came back up for air. "And now that we've finally resolved that sexual tension so thick it could've been cut with a knife, there's something else we need to talk about." "What's that?" "Limp Bizkit, Scully? I never knew. We have to talk-" They both smiled, and were now ready to begin their quasi-normal existence together. THE END
