Just Great by ILuvbsb59 ****************************************************************************** FBI HEADQUATERS WASHINGTON D.C. 9:00 AM "Sorry I'm late," Scully said rushing into the office. She was late cause she hadn't had much sleep again which is why she was so slow that morning. "Was traffic bad," Mulder asked. He was extremly concerned for his partner she has been late for over two weeks now and she has gotten pale with big dark circles under her eyes. "Not exactly," she said. "Hey Scully are you alright?" Mulder asked with a hint of concern in his eyes and voice. "I'm fine," Scully said and went to get a cup of coffee. "No your not Scully what is it you've been late for two weeks, you've become extremly pale and you have dark circles under your eyes so you can't be fine," Mulder said confronting her. "It none of your business," Scully said patiently which was faiding fast. "Your right it isn't but I'm worried about you," Mulder said waiting for an answer but he didn't get any. "Look you don't want to talk to me then please talk to someone who can help you." "I've tried that they couldn't find anything," Scully said as she poured herself a cup of coffee. "What's the problem then?" Mulder asked with even more concern in his voice. Scully mumbled something but not loud enough to hear. "What was that?" Mulder asked. "I can't sleep," Scully said and went to her desk without the cup of coffee. "Do you know why?" Mulder asked "I keep having dreams," she said and started to go through her e-mail. "What are they about?" he asked. "I don't remember. I wake up in sweat and with a scream," she said. "You should try to see a hypnotise," Mulder said. "Mulder this isn't about some case we have, this is about me," Scully said looking at him straight in the eye the first time that morning. "Yeah this isn't about some case, this is about you and only you, Your not going to get over this without help," Mulder said. "And it's my decision," Scully said still looking at him. "It is your decision but as a friend if you want to get a good nights sleep you are going to have to get your problem out of your mind," Mulder said. "I'll think about it," Scully said and went back to her computer. "Oh hey Mulder I need you to drive me home tonight my car is in the shop." "Alright how will you be getting here tomorrow?" Mulder asked. "I'm not sure yet," Scully said. "I can pick you up if you want," Mulder said. "Alright that's fine," Scully said. "Your welcome- hey Scully," Mulder said before she was able to shut the door. "What," Scully asked. "Have you made a decision?" Mulder asked. "No not yet," Scully said and shut the door then walked away from the car. A FEW HOURS LATER... As Scully walked out of the bathroom with damp hair from a shower the phone rang. She picked up a novel on the coffee table on the way to pick up the cordless phone. "Hello," Scully said. "Hey Scully," Mulders rusty voice piped through the phone. "What is it Mulder?" she asked as she walked to the bedroom. "I'm bored do I decided to annoy you with my boredom," he said. "Thanks for sharing your boredom with me," Scully said as she pulled back the blankets and put up her pillows to sit up and put the novel on the bed by her hip. "Your welcome I'll share with you for now on then," Mulder said. "You do that," Scully said. "What were you about to do before I innocently interrupted," Mulder asked. "I was about to read," Scully said. "What are you reading," Mulder asked. "Just a novel," she said. "What novel?" Mulder asked. "Little Woman," Scully said blushing. "Hey I've seen that movie it was pretty good for a sissy movie,"Mulder said. "You've seen the movie?" Scully asked. "Well my mom got it for me for my last birthday," Mulder said. "And you watched it?" Scully asked. "You bet and it was pretty good," Mulder said. "And if you like it everyone should like it, huh," Scully asked. "Yep the world revolves around us today," Mulder said sarcastically. "Yeah thats why you are so bored right," Scully said. "Ok I've lied you got me," Mulder said. "I thought so." "What made you think so?" Mulder asked. "I saw it in a vision," Scully said. "I thought you don't believe in that stuff," Mulder said. "Aren't you having fun now," Scully said just then Scully got a beep. "Hang on Mulder I got a beep." she said and pushed flash. "Hello." "Hey Dana remember me?" "How'd the hell did you get this number?" Scully asked with anger. "I have a few friends in high places. I have just called to let you know you've betterwatch your back and don't try to catch me or I will finish the job from before," then there was a dial tone. Scully looked at the phone with a mixed of angier and fright. She pushed flash again. "Mulder you there?" Scully asked. "Yep still here," Mulder said. "Can you get over here right now?" she asked and got up to look out of her window. "Yeah I'll be right there," Mulder said. "Hurry," Scully said and hung up. 15 MIN LATER... Scully looked through the peep whole when there was a knock at the door. Seeing Mulder she let him in. "So why did you want me here," Mulder asked. "The person on the phone that called was an exboyfriend of mine from high school. I've broke up with him cause he was pushing to fast and wouldn't listen when I said no. When I left for college he kept calling my dorm room and harassed me when I picked up the phone. When he called today he threatened me. He told me to watch my back and not to try to catch him or else he is going to finish what he tried before," Scully said as she got a terrified look on her face the last time he saw that look on her face. The last time he say that look was the photo of her when she was gagged and her face was sticking out of the trunk. "Scully calm down as along as I'm here he will not hurt you I swear it," Mulder said as Scully took a deep breath to calm herself. "I know that's why I asked YOU to come," Scully said and hugged herself and went to the window. "I thought it was all over," she said as she got tears in her eyes Mulder came up behind her and pulled her into a hug ment for confort. Scully hugged him back as a thank you and as a life jacket not wanting to let go. A little while later when they stopped hugging Scully let out a huge yawn. "Why don't you go get some sleep I'll just be here on the couch," Mulder said as he layed down after he toke his socks and shoes off. "Do you need any blankets?" Scully asked. "Not now but if I need some later. I'll just get one out I know where they are," Mulder said. "Alright good night then," Scully said and disappeared into her room. LATER THAT NIGHT... Mulder awoke hearing a scream. He got up immediately and ran into Scully's bedroom. When he went in her he saw her scrumming around with sweat on her and blankets wrapped around her small body. Without thinking he went to her and started to wake her up. She woke up with a start and looked at Mulder. Then she covered her mouth and ran to the bathroom. Mulder followed behind her to the bathroom and came in right after she through her deposit into the toilet. When she was done with fry heaves she was to weak to get up. Mulder picked her up and took her to the sink. After washing her face and mouth he picked her up again and took her to her bedroom and gently put her down. And crawled over her to the other side of the bed sat up and took her in his arms. Where she soon fell into a deep dreamless sleep. With Mulder following her a little while later. Scully awoke that morning feelings arms around her waist. Immediately she became tense, but when she opened her eyes she was face to face with a sleeping Mulder. Not wanting to wake him up she moved his arms slowly and carefully. She turned to sit up but found out her side was on the edge and when she turned she fell on the floor with a large thump. Loud enough to wake Mulder up that is. He rolled over to look down at Scully with his body still on the bed. "What are you doing?" Mulder asked. "I thought it was time to meet the floor," Scully said as she held onto the edge of the bed to pull herself up. "Really I was thinking of meeting the floor on my trip next fall," Mulder said. "You would, and what is that your trip of the decade?" Scully asked. "You know it, it would be the best trip I ever had," Mulder said. "How do you fell?" "Better I just have a stomach ache and a headache," Scully said. "Why don't you--," but he was interrupted by the sound of a ringing phone. Scully went to pick it up. "Hello," she said. "Hello dear just felt like calling you," the voice on the line said. "You bastard what do you want!" Scully said and Mulder came over and put a hand on her shoulder. "Oh I think you know what I want," he said with a slur in his voice. "You always were a sexy little thing and also a stubborn little bitch which is what makes you ever more sexy," he said. "Don't you try those lines on me they never did work on me!" Scully screamed in the phone. "Hey that man that has his hand on your shoulder right now. who is he, your boyfriend or husband?" Scully put the phone on the table and turned toward the window and opened the blinds and looked out. She was face to face with the man and she jumped back in shock and let out a small squick. Immediately Mulder ran out the door and went to confront the man. But when he got out of the apartment he was already speeding away. Mulder quickly got a glimpse of the licsense plate number. He quickly went inside to check on Scully. When he got inside he found her hugging a pillow and was in a tight ball on the couch. He went to her quickly and took her into his arms were she struggled at first but then settled and hugged him back. "I can't stay here tonight," she said above a whisper. "You can come to my place," as he picked up his cell phone still holding Scully and called A.D. Skinner and gave him the liscense plate number. And was told to take the day off. And for once Mulder didn't protest. When he hung up Scully was in the bedroom getting her stuff ready. A while later they were at Mulders apartment. When they got to Mulders apartment they turned on the tv. They watched tv for a little awhile then they started to get bored. So they decided to go for a short walk around a park a few blocks from Mulders apartment. At the park they walked around in silence for awhile until Mulder couldn't hold it anymore. "Scully are you going to go see a hypnotist?" Mulder asked as they went to sit at a park bench. "I've been thinking about it and I've decided it couldn't hurt to try," she said. "But as I said before I didn't have much luck with it the first time." "Yeah but you did well with the last one I mean the people got caught on fire when they were summined there somehow," he said then his cell phone began to ring. "Hello." "Agent Mulder I want to see you and Agent Scully in my office immediately," Skinner said and hung up. Mulder looked at Scully. "Come Scully our page master has called," Mulder said A.D. SKINNERS OFFICE? "We've found the car abandoned by a gas station two miles away from Agent Scully's apartment, but we haven't found the driver. Agent Scully it would help a lot to know the mans name," Skinner said as he looked at Scully. "It's Cash?Nathan Cash," she said above a whisper. "Nathan Cash?" Mulder and Skinner said at the same time with wide eyes. "You know him?" she asked looking at them. "He's wanted for sexual harassment on his ex-girlfriends, before he was finished with the others he got them alone and raped them when they weren't expecting them," Skinner said. "I suggest you go and stay with someone until he is caught." "She's staying with me sir," Mulder said as he looked at Scully he realized she was terrified, but she was trying to hide it. "Alright then your dismissed." Skinner said. When they went out to Mulders car he put a hand on her shoulder. "Don't worry I won't let him come near you I promise," he said and hoped he could keep it. "I know but he stills scares me," she said as she got in the car. "That is normal," Mulder said getting in the car and starting the ignition. They continued on in silence. As Mulder drove he saw video store. "Hey want to rent a movie." "Sure why not," Scully said as they got closer Mulder got a parkins spot and got out forgetting to lock the door and went to the sidewalk on Scully's side. He waited for her to get out. Then they walked into the video store. When they left they bothe got a video. Mulder got a comedy called George of the Jungle. And Scully got a noval called Secret of Roan Inish. When they got in the car and drove a couple blocks Mulder looked in the rearview mirror he saw a man in the backseat with a gun aimed between them both. "WHAT THE!" Mulder yelled andlooked back and sure enough a man was back with the gun toward Scully now. "Keep looking and don't look back again," Nathan said. "Nathan why won't you leave me alone," Scully said turning around and to look at him. "Cause your to beautiful and sexy to let go," he said as he toke her chin in his hand. As he did that Mulder looked over at Scully out of the corner of his eye to see if her seat belt was on. Thankfully it was then he looked in the rearview mirror to see if Nathan was wearing a seat belt which he doesn't. "Where do you want to go?" he asked trying to get Nathan's attention away from Scully. "Just take the backroads to Long Coroner!" Nathan said. "Here is a map find the way." "Really Nathan why don't you leave me alone," Scully said turning back toward the road. "Because I still want you and because I want to know why you dumped me," Nathan said. "You know why I dumped you," Scully said. "No I don't you just called me one day and said it was over," he said. "Because you don't give any reasons to why your breaking up with someone cause if you tell them and they'll say they change and they don't you'd just be going in circles through the relationship," Scully said. "Why did you break up with me then?" Nathan asked while put the gun down. Little did he know Mulder drove faster when he saw a brick wall to an old rundown cottage that was unused and well stabled. "I had good reasons," she said after she realized what Mulder was going to do she braced herself. A moment later the car crashed head first into the brick cottage wall and Nathan in the backseat without a seatbelt crashed through the back right window. Immediately the partners jumped out of the car. While Scully bent down to fell for a pulse Mulder called the police and ambulance. Scully then looked up at Mulder. "He's dead," she said as she got up off the ground. "Are you alright?" Mulder asked with concern. "I'm-" Scully said then cut off when she realised this wasn't the best time for fine. "I'll only have a few bruises but they aren't bad." "The ambulance and police will be here in a little while," Mulder said then he realized she was shivering. *Duh jackass it's only about 30' out and her coat is in the backseat which they can't touch. "Here Scully take my jacket," Mulder said as he took off his jacket and held it out for her. "No Mulder you would freeze," Scully said as she looked him straight in the eye. "No I won't I still have this suit it'll keep me warm trust me," Mulder said as he took the jacket and put it around her and for effect he rubbed her upper arms . "Thank you Mulder for everything," Scully said. "I'd do it again to keep you out of harms way," Mulder said as he put his hand on Scully's cheek. Then they heard sirens not far away. A few minutes later the police came followed by an ambulance. They answered all their questions and when they were able to they had a cop drive them to Mulder's apartment since it was closer. They thanked the cop and went inside. "Are you hungary?" Mulder asked as she took off his jacket and passed it to him. "Yes I'm starving- um wait what do you have to eat?" Scully asked out of curiosity. "Spaghetti and meatballs," Mulder said. "Ok I'm hungry then," Scully said. "Why don't you rest on the couch while I make the grub." Mulder said. "Alright," she said as she moved toward the couch. He headed toward the kitchen and started to boil the water. A little while later he went into the living room to tell Scully food was ready but when he saw her. She had layed down on the couch and had fallen asleep. THE END.
