KISSING IN THE QUARRY
by Rosemary

Dana Scully ran. She ran as fast as her legs could carry her away
from the clouded dust of what had only moments before been a
"super-soldier." She saw the car 100 feet in front of her and began
to slow down when a dark figure stepped in front of her from the tall
grass along the backside of the quarry. Frantically, she fumbled for
her gun, but her momentum continued to hurtle her towards the figure.
The figure moved quickly to her and grabbed her, pulling her roughly
into the thick brush. She cried out as she hit the ground, falling
flat on her back. She drew in a deep breath, preparing to scream,
when she realized - her jarred vision cleared and she focused on the
man poised just about her.

"Mulder," she said in a strangled whisper, almost unwilling to believe
it could be true. But any doubts were erased when he threw his body
upon her and pressed his lips against hers. His breathing was ragged
as he kissed her, again and again. Every time he pulled his lips from
hers he opened his eyes to adore her, and then returned to the warmth
of her waiting lips. At first she let him kiss her, as she took him
in - the feel of him against her, his strong body crushing her into
the dirt. She could hardly breathe from the force of his passion, but
she didn't care. He moved from her lips to her face, kissing her
eyelids, her forehead, her cheeks.

"Dana," he moaned softly. At the sound of her name, her first name,
coming from Mulder's lips, Dana was affected in a way she never would
have imagined. She began to kiss him back more fiercely, more
urgently. And she knew that she wanted to hear him say her name like
that a thousand times more, a million times more. As if reading her
thoughts, he whispered her name again. "Dana." His lips opened
against hers and moved slowly, his tongue sweeping gently against
hers. His hands slid up her body to cup her face, to stroke the
softness of her skin and her hair. He ran his fingers through her
silken tresses and tugged gently on the soft, wavy hair at the back of
her neck.

They couldn't get enough of each other. Mulder pulled her into a
sitting position, but wouldn't stop kissing her and caressing her.
She didn't want him to stop, ever. Being in his arms like this,
feeling so small and so cherished in his embrace was what she truly
wanted. She needed him, just as he needed her. They weren't complete
without each other. She ran her hands up and down along his back,
wishing she could rub away some of the strain and loneliness he had
been feeling. Her hands moved up to his hair, which was longer and
disheveled. She was surprised by the coldness of his skin. Despite
the jacket he was wearing, he was chilled. She pulled away from his
kiss to look at him. His eyes were sad and desperate for her, the
longing so very evident in his gaze. Without a second thought, she
yanked her blue scarf from around her neck and wrapped it around his.
He ran the palm of his hand along her hair, taking in every inch of
her with his eyes. A small smile formed on his kiss-swollen lips,
that warmed Dana's heart.

And then a voice shouted in the distance. "Agent Scullllllly!"

"No." Mulder said desperately, and pulled her against him.

"Agent Scully!" It was Doggett's unmistakable voice.

"No." Mulder whispered again, hugging her tighter. They looked into
each other's eyes again.

"I don't want to go," Dana said, running her fingers over his lips.
She kissed him again. They clung to each other desperately. Mulder
looked at her again.

"Kiss me, Dana." She complied immediately, pressing her lips against
his yet again. They breathed heavily and kissed long and hard. When
Mulder pulled away this time, his eyes were misty. He leaned forward
to give her a soft, delicate kiss, then, allowing his lips to rest
against hers for a moment. And with that, he stood quickly, pulling
her up with him. He pulled her closer into his arms for a full-length
hug, pressing her head into his chest.

"I love you, Dana Scully," he whispered.

Dana's eyes were heavy with unshed tears. "I love you, always," she
whispered in return.

"I'll be home soon."

"I know."

Mulder hugged her tighter and kissed her hair, then broke contact from
her and slipped away into the grass.

"Agent Scully!"

Dana watched Mulder's figure until it disappeared, then turned towards
the voices that were calling for her. She stepped out of the grass
and back onto the gravel road. Doggett and Reyes were standing by the
car with their backs turned to her. Dana took a deep breath and
walked toward them. She was Scully again. Scully the strong. Scully
the brave. Scully the agent and the doctor. But deep in her heart
she knew she was also Dana. When she was in his arms, she was Dana.
And it made her feel beautiful. And she knew she would see him again.
