Summary: This is part of Viva Las Vegas Series and it is a sequel to "Party Girl". We strongly suggest you read it. After Scully returned to Washington from her trip to Las Vegas, something happened in a quiet and peaceful San Diego home. Enjoy it! Feedback will be greatly appreciated. Las Vegas Review (1/8) by Randi They returned from church on this beautiful Sunday evening. As always, she will take care of their son while he will read the newspaper before dinner. This evening he had different plans, he had a meeting in Las Vegas first thing on Monday morning. In a few minutes she prepared his dinner, he decided to skip the newspaper routine, and after dinner he was on his way to Las Vegas. As soon as his father left their sweet home, their son picked his father newspaper. Less than two years old, life for him was exciting. Being so young, it was an adventure to 'read' the cartoons. As his father did this evening, instead of choosing the cartoons routine, he preferred a colorful supplement. "A't 'Na." He almost screamed as he pointed with his little finger a woman in a photo. Las Vegas Review (2/8) by Randi "Honey, I'm at room 425. I will call you again tomorrow after the meeting." "Bye, sweetheart." As part of his routine when he was not home on a Sunday night, he will read the newspaper and watch some TV. This time, it was different. He was so tired that he skipped the newspaper routine, but he took a shower and watched some Cable TV. In a matter of seconds, he was asleep as his almost two years son. Las Vegas Review (3/8) by Randi Definitely, he was a man of routine. He learned this from his father. As promised, he called his wife after the meeting and decided to leave after a snack. While he was waiting for room service, he picked the Sunday newspaper, but someone knocked the door. "Room service." "Thank you." He was in love with this five star hotel. They treat him as a if he was royalty, specially last night when he registered in the hotel. As soon as he identify himself, everybody looked at him. He admitted to be surprised at this, but since this was not the first time he was on a late check-in, he thought that everyone recognized him. Nevertheless, it was weird that two of the front desk clerks reading the newspaper look at him, while one of them said aloud, "You are right, he has the same last name." He finished his snack, went to the bathroom, and when he was standing at the door he remembered the newspaper. 'It's only one day, I will read it at home in the evening.' As soon as he left his room, he check-out and once again all of the front desk clerk, including the manager this time, were staring at him. 'Maybe in my early forties I'm still a good looking man, specially in this uniform.' Las Vegas Review (4/8) by Randi "Lieutenant-Commander?" "Yes?" He answered to the voice of his secretary. "General Smith ask if you can see him at his office now." "I will be there in a second." It was not normal for General Smith to ask him to see him at his office this late. The General was an old friend of his father and their family. 'What the hell General Smith is doing here at these late hours?' "General Smith, may I come in?" "Of course, Lieutenant-Commander. Please, have a seat." The Lieutenant-Commander sat in one of the two chairs in front of General Smith, the same chair he seated almost two years ago when he called to congratulated him on a special occasion, Matthew's birthday. "General Smith, you wanted to see me?" "Yes, Lieutenant-Commander Scully. I have something important to tell you. Can I call you, Bill?" "Of course, General Smith." "You can call me Tom, Billy. This conversation is off the record." "I don't understand, Sir." "Billy, you know you and your father, and of course, Maggie, your lovely mother, are long time friends. Your father served this country. His career in the Navy was outstanding. He was very proud of his family, specially you, Billy. You and Charlie decided to follow your father steps joining the Navy, while your smallest sister joined law enforcement. "Billy, you know how important it is for a Navy Lieutenant- Commander to keep his reputation and his name with high standards, as your father did." "Sir, if I have done something wrong..." "No. Billy, you have not done anything wrong. If your father would still be alive, he would be very proud of you. I won't say the same thing about your sister, Dana." Las Vegas Review (5/8) by Randi "Tara! I'm home. Tara?" "Hi! What happened, Bill?" "Tara, where is yesterday newspaper?" "In the coffee table." "Tara, did you read the Sunday supplement?" "No. Matthew was playing with it when I was reading the newspaper, but since it was late I skipped it. Is something wrong?" Bill and Tara sat in the comfortable couch, the one where Dana's weird partner slept almost two years ago. "Tara, are you sure you have not read Las Vegas Review?" "No." As Bill was like crazy looking for the supplement, Matthew reappeared in the room with part of the supplement between his little hands. "A't 'Na." "Yes, Matthew. Give me the supplement." "Noooo, A't 'Na." Bill took Matthew on his arms while opening Las Vegas Review and showing Tara a page with some pictures. "You see what I mean, Tara?" "Oh, my God!" Las Vegas Review (6/8) by Randi "Mulder." "Hi, Mulder. We have a message from you to return the call as soon as possible. Here we are." "Oh! You call fast returning my call after one day?" "Ejem, we have been pretty busy, Mulder." "Of course, Frohike, I believe you. Let me add that the three of you will be pretty busy with a kicked ass." "Uh?" "Scully, Frohike. Does her name sounds familiar to you? She is mad. What the hell you people where doing in Las Vegas? Scully told me that she met Sussane Modeski. Frohike, are you still there?" "...ye ...ye ...Yeah, Mulder. Is a long story. Could you be here in an hour? We will explain everything to you. You know, phone lines are not safe these days." "Tell that to Scully and she will kick your ass. See you in an hour." Viva Las Vegas (7/8) by Randi "Ring..." "Skinner." "Assistant Director Skinner, you have a call from San Diego." "Thank you." "Assistant Director Skinner, may I help you?" "Good morning, Sir. Could you please hold a second, Lieutenant-Commander William Scully wants to speak with you." "Sure." "Mr. Skinner, this is Bill Scully, Dana's brother. We met in the hospital two years ago. Mr. Skinner, there is something I need to share with you. Is about my sister." Las Vegas Review (8/8) by Randi "Mulder." "Agent Mulder, could you please hold the line? Assistant Director Skinner wants to talk to you." "Agent Mulder?" "Yes, Sir." "Where are you?" "Why sir?" "Is Agent Scully with you?" "No, Sir. Is something wrong with Agent Scully? Was she abducted again, Sir?" "Agent Mulder, this is very serious business we are talking here. Do you know where was Agent Scully this weekend?" "Las Vegas, Sir." "Agent Mulder, was she freelancing by herself this time? How fast can you be in my office?" "Give me a break, I will call Scully and we will meet you there as soon as possible." "Agent Mulder, I will prefer to talk to you first. I received a newspaper supplement with some disturbing news about both of you." FIN You can read the complete Viva Las Vegas Series at The Foxy Files (www.angelfire.com/fl2/thefoxyfiles).
