Life Is Cruel (1/1)

I sit here, staring out the curtain-less window, into
the dark night, the dark night of echoes, the echoes
of promises.

It's been two years since I saw them last.

I'm grateful to the guys for keeping me up to date, as
best as they can, but even they can't take me back to
them.

Not yet.

How long do I have to stay away? Stay away from the
people I love?

People I desperately need.

I fight a battle, a battle in the shadows, a battle
full of deceit and lies, all tangled in a never-ending
web.

Sometimes I wonder if it's a losing battle.

But I fight it nevertheless.

I sit here still, in a nameless motel, in a nameless
town, hoping that They won't find me. Hoping I'm doing
what's right.

Hoping that you're safe, taking care of our son.

Do you have any idea, Scully, what this is doing to
me?
