The Lover After Me

It's been seven months.  Seven long months.  I continuously 
try to promise myself that I won't think of you today.  But
that never works.  I think of you all the time.  24/7.  

Everything around me reminds me of you: the buildings in the 
city... everything.  I try to move on, believe me.  But I 
can't.  My short time with you has branded me for the rest
of my life.  The nights are now cold and lonely and I feel
as though I'm alone in the universe.  I'm holding on.  Holding
for you even though I know you won't be coming back to me.

I watch you sometimes.  You don't know I'm there.  It's better
that way.  I see you with him.  All the time.  I watch the two
of you go up to your apartment and he stays all night.  I can 
only imagine what's going on up there.  And I imagine he's your
new love.  Your lover after me.  It tears me up inside.  But if
he makes you happy...

I only hope this 'Mulder' character knows how truly lucky he is
that he haves you.
