From: "Dana Scully-Mulder" Subject: "Melissa" by dmulder Date sent: Sun, 08 Mar 1998 16:49:12 PST This is just a short story I wrote this afternoon, after watching "The Craft". That's a weird movie. I kept looking at Sarah and thinking "Melissa". Anyway, out of the two characters in this story, one's not mine, the other is. I'm sure you know which is which. I might write a sequel/follow-up, I'm not sure. Tell me what you think. cphelps@hotmail.com I didn't know what to name this one, so I just called it "Melissa". "Melissa" by dmulder 31 October 1994 San Francisco, CA "I must leave." The tall woman, grey-haired and dressed in white, looked at her friend. "I know." The younger woman touched the crystal at her throat. "It's my sister. I need to be there." The older woman, Catrin, nodded. "I know." "How?" Catrin smiled. "I do. You should know by now not to question. I know the same way you do, my sister." The other woman turned blue eyes to her teacher. "Can you teach me to help her?" "No." Catrin shook her head. "If she lives, it will be her choice. But you need to be there for her." "How do I explain to my mother how I knew to come?" "Don't. I believe that she will know." The younger woman nodded. "Catrin, I don't know if I'll be returning." Catrin looked at the sky, then at her student. "No. It's not your path to return." The younger woman turned away. "Keep your teachings, sister. Don't forget them." She turned to look at Catrin again. "I won't." Catrin smiled. "I know." She sighed. "Go, child. Do what you must." "Blessed be, Catrin." Catrin just smiled. As she watched Melissa Scully walk away, she knew her student would not come back.
