Rating? I'd say it's suitable for all ages.
ALSO: This story is a spoiler for those who have not yet seen 'The Blessing
Way' and 'Paperclip', so if you haven't seen these two eps, read no further!
SUMMERY: Scully at Melissa's Funeral, looking for something to grasp onto,
something to continue living for. She finds it.

>Please be patient with me, this is my first ever story to 'The X-files' fan
fic list, so I hope I'm doing this right! 'Melissa's Funeral' is a *very*
short story, which I wrote after seeing 'The Blessing Way' and 'Paperclip'
in 1995, following seeing my favorite guest character, Melissa Scully, die
from everybody's most popular double agent, RATBOY. Enjoy, it, I was having
a fit of emotional writing when i wrote this.

>DISCLAIMER: I don't own Scully, Mulder, nor Melissa. They are characters
owned by CC and his company with the magic numbers, 10-13. Read on!

>Scully stood with her mother, trembling, in front of her sister's grave.
It was 1995, a chilling grey afternoon, and her sister, Melissa, was dead.
'It was all my fault', Scully thought, tears streaming down her face. 'That
bullet was meant for me.' As the minister droned on, Scully thought of all
the trials and tribulations she and her sister shared growing up. Her
sister, with thick aubern hair just as her, streaming in the wind. Yet her
hair would flow in the wind no longer. Her sister, lending a listening ear
when Dana could no longer suffer through the horrors of the X-Files. Yet,
her sister could no longer listen.
>
>Scully saw him, standing in the trees far away from the funeral. He was
tall, with dark hair. Mysterious. He had known Melissa, though not as well
as Scully. Scully knew why the man would not come in. The man had suffered
enough horror, since he too had lost a sister, long ago. Seeing the man
brought more tears to Scully's eyes, because she knew. She knewthe man's
pain. She had seen the fear in his eyes while he was tortured daily with
his obsession, and how it always, always led him to dead ends. The man had
spied her looking at him, and he walked through the cemetary gates, and up
to her. When the man reached Scully, he bent down to give her a small kiss
on her cheek, and held her hand. Scully knew if he ever, ever let go again,
she wouldn't go on. And while Fox Mulder and Dana Scully looked on, Melissa
was lowered into her grave where she would stay for eternity.
>
>And Mulder never let go of her hand.
