The idea came from an article about a type of therapy used with police officers called BET. http://www.division42.org/MembersAr...kgnews_10.html XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX "Thank-you for coming in today, Agent Scully." Scully looked a little chagrined as if she'd been admonished. "I apologize for the constant rescheduling." "It's understandable. I know you travel a great deal in your department." When it came to Dana Scully, Dr. Kossef found it helpful to talk shop for a few moments. It seemed to help the Agent get her bearings and relax. "I reviewed a report from your last case - due to a weapons discharge - it sounded very intense." "It was. A strange case, but that's what Mulder and I do, investigate strange cases." "But it's not every day your partner threatens to shoot you." "You'd be surprised." Scully gave a bit of a smile as she picked imaginary lint from her navy skirt. "Do you feel like talking about it?" "No. There's not a lot to discuss. We're still trying to determine the exact nature of Modell's medical history. It seems clear that Mulder was being manipulated by some sort of post hypnotic suggestion." "Fascinating." Dr. Kossef's hand rested lightly on the round table, a look of keen interest on her face. Scully chuckled softly and pushed a strand of hair behind her ear. "You have no idea." Dr. Kossef sensed it was time to begin. "Have you brought your items?" Scully's face altered ever so slightly, tinged with something, trepidation maybe. "Yes. I remembered." She said quietly as she leaned down to remove a large routing envelope from the bag at her feet. "You've had awhile to gather these items. Are you satisfied that you have what you need?" Scully fingered the edge of the envelope's flap with a manicured nail before replying. "Yes. I'm satisfied. Mulder had a large file about my case which was accessible to me." "Does he know you've removed items?" "I didn't remove anything, just made copies of what I wanted. I can't destroy evidence from a case file, even a closed one." "Of course." Dr. Kossef ignored Scully's artful deflection of her question. It was not entirely unexpected. "Would you like to see them?" "If you'd like." "I don't mind, in a strange way I feel you're the only one I can show." "Your partner and you are very close. You aren't able to show him these things?" "No." Karen could tell she would get no further information on that front. "Okay, let's see what you have." Tipping the envelope upside down, Scully released the perverse collection of memorabilia she'd been secretly gathering for weeks. Spreading it before her she pointed to each item. "A photo of me in the trunk of Dwayne Berry's stolen automobile. - A transcript of Mulder's interrogation of Berry at Skyline mountain. - A picture of Berry from his FBI file. - Mulder's field journal, a copy of course." Dr. Kossef watched as Scully carefully ran her index finger over the cover of the field journal. A jumble of grief and determination glittered through unshed tears. "Now what?" She whispered. "Burn it." THE END
