Now for the author's rambling. I pondered writing a vignette series base on songs by the very talented band Savage Garden for a while. For a while, (sorry for the repetion) I didn't have any ideas, until, one day, I was listening to their music. Anyway, this is the third installment of the series; The Lover After Me and Gunning Down Romance being the other two. This is actually a stand alone and can be read as such. The song is a b-side and doesn't appear on the albums (at least the US ones). You can read the complete lyrics and hear the song on my Savage Garden site: http://www.geocities.com/trulymadlydarren/ Okay...on with the story. :) Memories Are Designed to Fade by Invisible Sun Agent Scully left her partner of seven years three years ago. Without reason. Or at least any she cared to give. It tore my dear friend apart. You see, they were more than just partners. Mulder and Scully had a connection that went deeper than most. I don't know if it was because of their line of work or what, but it WAS there. They were in love with each other. Finally, after six years, they acted on it. Oh, they didn't tell us, but Frohike, Langly, and I are not stupid. We got that vibe pretty quick. But, suddenly, without warning, she left him. All those three years ago. Now, it's always, 'Byers, remember when Scully...' or 'I remember when Scully and I...' He's always bringing up one memory or another. It pains me to see my friend in the state that he is in. Three years. Three years and he still hasn't gone on. Because the memories haven't faded yet. They're designed that way, you know? His recollection of memories is worse than using a photograph. But memories fade, right? He'll be able to move on... someday, right? I sincerly hope so. For his sake. The end Feedback? invisible_sun@hotmail.com
