                             Memories, Mulder and Pizza

To any passer-by it would have been one young woman sitting at a
table in the food-court in a crowded mall in D.C. But, to Dana Scully it was
a long overdue reunion. She was waiting for two of her high-school
girlfriends that she hsdn't seen in seven years. She glanced around looking
for the tall, farmilliar short-haired brunette that she missed so much. Her
watch read 12:23 and if they didn't get there soon Mulder would call and
tell her to get back down there to preform another autopsy. Then, she saw
something and a smile swept over her face. A tall brunette in a mauve
buisness-suit was lugging a rolling suitcase through a packed crowd and
shortly after her came a short blond woman in a long green dress. They stood
and suveyed the crowd. Dana laughed and raised her hand and waved to them.
They saw it and smiled. The pair managed to get throught the crowd without
trampling on sombody's feet.
"Dana!" the brunette cried out and she hugged Scully as soon as she
out her bags down.
"Good to see you, Correy." she greeted warmly. Next she turned to
the blond. "How's it going, Joanne?" she hugged the woman.
"My god, Dana, you look great!" she replied enthusiasticaly.
"How long has it been?" Correy flopped down onto the chair exhaustedly.
"Deb's wedding, I think." she replied thoughtfully. Joanne sat to
her left.
"That long? Dana, what about Jane's wedding, weren't you there?" a
confused Joanne asked.
"No, I couldn't make it." she replied sadly. "It seems like
everbody's getting married but us." she sighed. "Well, Jo, how's Mark." she
asked, trying to be the one to lighten up the mood.
"That was over a long time ago. I didn't tell you?" she asked
bewildered.
"Yeah, now she's on to Alfonso, king of all losers." Correy added slyly.
        "Hey!" Joanne squeeled in defense.
"So, who's the man in your life, Correy?" Scully asked trying to
break up the soon to be World War III.
"No one serious. It looks as though I'm going to be Correy Matthews
for he rest of my existence." she sighed unhappily. Dana had to try her
hardest to stiffle a slight laugh.
"You should be grateful! Matthews is a beautiful last name. Imagine
being Joanne Salisbury for the rest of your life. But, Dana, you're the
luckiest of all. Dana Scully is a beautiful name! You guys have all the
luck." she sulked and this time Dana couldn't help but let out a laugh.
Joanne stuck out her tongue.
"You ought to hear what they call me aroung the office." She replied
after she stopped laughing.
"Huh?" Correy asked confused. Dana had always been highly regarded
in high-school.
"Oh, silly things, like Mrs.*Spooky*." she remarked casually, but
they could tell it pained her inside.
"Mrs.Spooky? Where the hell did they come up with that one?"
Matthews asked in bewilderment. Dana had always been so logical and in line.
"I never told you about *Spooky* Mulder?!" she asked with a
mischevious grin.
"Who is Mulder?" Joanne asked suddenly becoming more interested,
"He's my partner." she stated to them. They looked at each other
suspiciously.
"*He's* your *partner*?" the asked in unision. She was taken aback.
"Yes, that's what I said. What's going on between you two?" She was
in a state of deep confusion.
"You sent us a photo of a guy in your letter to us, about, oh, three
months ago. But, you failed to mention who he was. Tell us, Dana, is this
the illusive Mulder?" she asked, being totally sly. Something was definetly up.
"Um,...yes that's the one." she replied casually as possible. They
were implying something she knew she wasn't going to like.
"We figured he was your boyfriend. Not too many agents carry photos
of their partners? Why do you carry photos of your partner, Dana?" Joanne
joined in. They were cornering her like two bears.
"We're very close." she replied keeping up her front. She wasn't
about to let them win without a fight.
"*Close*, huh? Just how close are the two of you?" Correy added in
coyly.
"He's my best-friend. He's always been there for me and my familly.
Just what are you two implying?" it was her turn to ask the questions.
"Well, Dana, come on, do you think we're blind? You work with this
gorgeous guy who you probably know everything about. He's always around for
you and your familly. Hell, the people at your work refer to you as *Mrs.*
Spooky. Isn't there some deeper connection you're forgetting to tell us
about? Come on, Dana, spill it!" she continued to pry endlessly.
"Matthews, you're never going to give up, are you? We are partners,
best-friends, but that's it! No more, no less! I love Mulder like a brother,
but there is nothing else to it." and with this she rose to her feet. "I'm
going to get some pizza, you want anything?" she asked professionally. If
she even gave the slightest implication that they were getting to her, they
would pounce.
"I'll have a diet Pepsi." Joanne replied but there was still a
glimmer in her eyes.
"A slice of cheeze and a regular Pepsi, please." she sat back
mischeviously. With that Scully left the dynamic duo to plan their
strategies for when she got back.
While she waited for her orders she replayed the conversation in the
back of her mind. <You work with this gorgeous guy who you probably know
everything about. He's always around for you and your familly. Hell, the
people at your work refer to you as *Mrs.* Spooky.> No, she pushed the
thought to the back of her head, they can't be right. Although,... The
cashiers voice snapped her out of her revierie and she payed. She mingled
her way through the crowds and managed to get to the table unhurt. She
lifted her ice-tea of the table and looked at it. I don't remember ordering
ice-tea, she thought and then something snapped. <If there's an ice-tea in
that bag, it could be love>. She dropped the can to the floor and her
friends' heads turned towards her. When they noticed her eyes glazed over
and staring at the can with pure horror.
"Dana, what's wrong?" Joanne jumped to her side. Scully's head shot
up and she looked at her concerned friend.
"Um,...nothing. I'm fine." she replied. She reached down and picked
up the dente can in astonishment.
"You're sure? Mabey we should-" but Matthews was cut-off by a slight
shrill ringing. Correy looked and her beeper but Dana had already reached in
her pocket to her phone.
"Scully." she answered in her most professional voice.
"Heya, Scully. Where are you?" a farmilliar masculine voice asked
over the phone.
"Hi, Mulder. Out to lunch with two pests." Once her guests heard the
name they eyed each other and looked at her intently. Then, when she
finished they stuck their tongues out at her.
"You're with Skinner? Ewww.... Who's the other guy?" He teased. She
laughed and the pair raised their eyebrows, wanting in on the conversation.
"Old high-school friends of mine. Correy Matthews and Joanne
Salisbury." she answered.
"Matthews, eh? Think I met her at an awards ceremony. She an agent?"
he asked pondering over the name.
        "Yup." she replied.
"Oh, well. I think we may have something on that body, but I need
your help. Mind breaking lunch early?" he was more enthusiastic now.
"Mulder! I haven't seen these two in at least seven years!" she
argued, but she knew it was hopeless.
        "Bring 'em along."
"Okay. I'll be there soon." and she pressed the END button on her phone.
They gazed up and her indicating they wanted the fill on the details of the
conversation. She ignored them and began eating her slice of pizza. "Mulder
wants me to come back to analize a body. You guys want an all exclusive tour
of the X-Files division of the FBI?" she asked.
"Would that be his body?" they giggled terribly. She just gave them
her infamous get-over-it face.
"You two are incorigible!" she expressed and she sighed.
"Now seriously, Dana, what do you think of this guy?" Correy asked
in a serious tone of voice. Scully knew that she was never able to lie to
Matthews without being seen through.
"He's a nice guy." she responded, exasperated.
        "Do you like him?"
"Even if I did it wouldn't be important. There are strict bureau
rules against this kind of conduct, you know."
"So you do! I knew it! I could see it in your eyes when you
mentioned his name!...By the way, what is his full name?"
"Fox William *Spooky* Mulder." she replied as she gathered up her
things and stood up.
        "*Fox*?"
"Yeah Fox, but don't call him that unless you want your head ripped
off." she continued as she threw away their garbage. The other two grabbed
their bags and followed Scully out of the building.

                                    To be Continued...

The next part to this is called "Casual Inquiries" and it's pretty
much where Matthews and Salisbury meet Mulder. Excuse the spelling I know
it's pretty bad.
