But there's nothing wrong with fluff. =) I consider Fluff the Magic Dragon to be my Fluff Inspiration! Moonlight and Mulder by Christina Shuy cshuy@netcom.com 'Fox William Mulder is an elegant man. He has a model's profile, and eyes that burn into the soul. Some women would kill for his cheekbones. As for his smile, it would melt the glaciers if he would simply use it more often. 'Yes,' Scully decided. 'He IS elegant... and so much more.' Dana Katherine Scully was curled up next to her partner, allowing her eyes settle on his face. The curtains were open in the room, and the light from the full moon was settling on both of them as they lay together. With the moonlight falling upon him, his hair was very dark and looked almost like the finest quality silk. The full moon cast his face and neck in a silvery light, giving a silvery glow to his features. Moonlight gave a certain intensity to colours, making the dark darker, and the light lighter, giving things a dreamy quality. And the man next to her was certainly a Dreamer type. Not that there was anything wrong with being a Dreamer type... or dreamy. He was, in her opinion, very easy on the eyes. Handsome, inquisitive, and mischievous were certainly words to describe him. Of course, frustrating, impossible, and highly impulsive were other words she used quite often, usually while either trying not to hit him or kill him. Yes, she decided, Fox Mulder was definitely a mixture of positive and negative components. He was also asleep. Oh well. That was too bad. Not that she could blame him, though. The case they had been sent on had been exhausting, and had eventually turned out to be a combination Violent Crimes/X-Files case file, and the credit for cracking everything was being shared by both departments. Phenomenal weirdness, unexplained phenomena, a serial killer, Mulder's profile, and Scully's forensic work. Neither Violent Crimes nor the X-Files section alone could have solved the case, and both sections were grateful for the other's assistance. Mulder and Scully had made quite the impression on the people in the Violent Crimes unit and they were finally getting duly deserved credit for their work. Unfortunately, that had left the personnel from both divisions exhausted, and drained. But at least they had caught the killer. They had managed to take the last plane back to DC that day and were quite glad to finally get the chance to be able to sleep in their own beds after the horrific case, which had been mentally and physically exhausting. Even the motel had been a horror. Nails would have been far more comfortable than what they'd been forced to sleep on. There had not been enough space on the floor, and the double-occupancy room they'd been given had been the last motel room in the entire tri-state area. --- A few hours earlier... Dana Scully pulled up to the curb in front of Mulder's apartment building and shook her head violently to try and keep awake. It was one of those times where blinking became more and more difficult. Even her hair felt sleepy. And she felt too tired to yawn, which said a lot. "Hey, Scully, you don't look like you're in any shape to drive home. Spend the night with me. I promise I'll be a gentlemen. You can have my bed, and I'll just sleep on my couch... like I usually do." Mulder half-yawned. "In fact, I'll be so much of a gentleman, I won't try to take advantage of you. I promise. Scout's honour." "Mulder, don't make promises you don't intend to keep." There was a teasing note in her voice and a sparkle in her eyes, and Mulder laughed. "And as for 'scout's honour', I'll bet you were probably kicked OUT of the Boy Scouts for breaking your word." "Ohh. You wound me!" "I have before, and I will again if you aren't careful. Must I remind you that I have a gun and I know how to use it? Better than you do, in fact!" "And just what are you implying, Agent Scully?" "I'm not implying anything. I'm merely stating the fact that I do not drop my gun on a regular basis, Agent Mulder. Not to mention the fact that my marksmanship scores are usually higher than yours. Not to mention the fact that I think I might look better in riot gear than you do." "Oooh, Scully, are you coming onto me?" "Keep it up, Mulder, and I'll hurt you like that beast woman in Jersey a few years ago." Again the teasing grin. Mulder mimed a mock wound to the heart, and then grinned at his partner who was rolling her eyes at him. They headed up to his apartment. --- Dana Scully smiled to herself even as she pressed herself closer against her sleeping partner. He had been right. She had been far too tired to drive home, even though she didn't live too far from him. And what had happened after they'd gotten up to his apartment had falling asleep at the wheel, otherwise known as micro-sleep, beat, hands down. Not to mention the fact that what HAD happened was far less dangerous than micro-sleep. And far more comfortable than risking a car accident, or a traffic ticket. Not only that, she'd woken up a bit after they'd gotten up to his apartment and then, suddenly, their clothes didn't really seem to matter anymore. Somewhere between Mulder's front door and his bedroom, their clothing had seemingly come off on their own. They'd fallen asleep together on the waterbed in his bedroom, the origin of which still remained a mystery. The waterbed had been in his apartment upon their return from a trip to Nevada. The trip had turned out to be a wash, but when they returned, Mulder's apartment had been mysteriously redecorated and cleaned. The apartment had since returned to its original state of bachelor disaster, which was pretty typical for Mulder. It was what was termed organised chaos. However, Mulder had apparently not let the waterbed go to waste. After he'd found out about the waterbed and the sheets used on it, he'd called her to tell her, appalled by whomever it was who had done the decorating. As she recalled, the bed had originally been made with tacky black satin trimmed in leopard print. They were laying on navy blue cotton which he had apparently gotten from a local linens store. The sheets certainly smelled of him... and, now, of her as well. The mirrors on the ceiling were a bit much, but it did allow for her to see herself together with Mulder without the aid of any video equipment, or having to wait for a photograph to develop. And she liked what she saw. True, she had seen photos of her and Mulder together, but they'd never been like this... relaxed, unafraid, and, well, asleep. She'd never gotten the chance to see them in real time. Or quite so... contented. Grinning, she continued to study him quietly. Before she realised what she was doing, she reached out a hand and gently caressed his face. She smiled as her fingertips met with the scratchy-soft skin of his jaw, lightly covered in stubble. The skin of his jaw was just like he was, a dichotomy. Prickly and rough at the outset, but soft and smooth once the prickles and thorns were gotten past. Her other hand found its way into Mulder's hair and she started twisting locks of hair in her fingers. "Mmmmm... See anything you like?" Mulder breathed, as Scully leaned in, planting a soft kiss on his jaw. Mulder hummed softly in response. "Lots. All of it, actually. Though if you give me a moment, I'm sure there would be a lot more that I would like... though maybe 'like' is too light a word for how I feel about what I've seen." Dana smiled. "And even what I haven't seen, I like. Although, there's not much of you I haven't seen. If anything." Her tone of voice had taken on a sudden impish quality. "And just what is that supposed to mean?" "Oh, nothing, Mulder." "Oh, come on, Scully." "Well, Mulder, you know... it's just the usual..." "The usual?" "The usual." she smiled, enigmatically and refused to elaborate. Mulder decided to try another tack. "Hey, Scully, I want to thank you for agreeing to spend the night with me." "Not a problem, Mulder. As you pointed out, I was pretty out of it, and I can't think of a better place to crash. Your waterbed is nice and warm. And so are you. I would be glad to spend the night with you any time. All you had to do was ask." "What about Ed Jerse?" Mulder pouted almost childishly, though there was a hurt expression in his eyes. "Did he ask? And have you talked to him since...?" Dana rolled her eyes. "Ed Jerse...Mulder, that was years ago. I haven't seen him since that time. And I thought I told you already that nothing happened, but apparently you don't believe me. It would be like my asking you about Kristen Kilar, or Phoebe, or even Diana Fowley, though I suspect things HAVE happened with those last two..." "They're different!" Mulder protested, weakly, though Scully could see the pain and guilt in his eyes at the mention of the names. She could feel him preparing to exorcise those particular demons, hopefully for good. "Phoebe and Diana were over long before I met you. As for Kristen... She's... dead... and you... I thought I'd lost you..." His lower lip stuck out and he shook slightly. "I thought I'd lost you forever..." She kissed him on the cheek again and held him close. "Mulder... what I'm trying to say is that Phoebe Green, Kristen Kilar and Ed Jerse are in the past, and right at this very moment, neither of is involved with anyone... except each other. At least that's how other people see it. Unless you are involved with Diana and not telling me-" "No! It's been over between Diana and me for a long time. Despite how I may act..." "Well, then, that means we're not involved with anyone else." "You have a point there. What time is it, anyway?" Mulder yawned. Scully glanced at the clock. "Just passing four a. m. I think we got in about midnight. If not for the fact that I was really tired, I'm glad we flew home on the redeye. I don't think I could have slept another night on those awful motel beds." "Me neither. I felt like I was sleeping on a mattress filled with rocks." "Gotten spoiled by your water bed, Mulder?" "Nah... even my couch is more comfortable than that damned motel bed was." She felt his hands rest warmly on her body, his arms pulling her ever closer to him. She snuggled closer, tucking her head just under his shoulder. His hands caressed her back and she sighed contentedly. She shivered as she felt his fingers trace abstract shapes on the skin of her upper back and shoulders. "Oh, don't stop there." A smile was on her lips. She felt him plant a kiss on her forehead, then begin to nibble lightly on her earlobe. She shivered lightly and sighed again. "You know, I did promise to be a gentleman." He breathed the words and sent a shiver down her spine. She leaned into him, allowing her eyes to drift shut and her body to flush with desire. "I know." "You are so beautiful in the moonlight, Scully..." "Funny, I was thinking the same thing about you, Mulder..." "You were? I'm flattered." There was the silver-white flash of his teeth as he smiled brightly. "I think you're probably more beautiful than I could ever be, though." "I wouldn't be so sure of that, Mulder." "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and in the eyes of this beholder, you are beautiful." Before Scully could reply to that, Mulder had leaned in and captured her mouth with his own. At first, it was only a light brushing of his lips against hers. The gesture was timid and shy, almost as though Mulder were afraid he was taking liberties and was going to pull away quickly. Something within him, Scully felt, did not want to pull away, so it seemed he was torn between pulling away and deepening the kiss. He only allowed the kiss to deepen after he felt Scully's fingers in his hair, holding him against her. She could feel the joy in his heart radiating out in waves. The kiss they shared now was nothing like the interrupted kiss which had taken place in the hallway outside. This time, there was no bee to interrupt, and she could feel the taste of his lips as well as his tongue as they began exploring one another intimately. While not breaking the concentration of their kiss, Scully felt around for one of Mulder's hands and placed it on her breast. She shivered as she felt his touch against her bare skin, her nipples becoming taut under his hand as he caressed her. "Are you sure about this, Scully?" he asked, pausing a moment to look into her eyes. "Don't stop, Mulder, or else I WILL shoot you again," she murmured when he pulled away for a brief moment, a look of fear in his eyes. "Scully... I... uh... I....ummm" "Yes, Mulder, I know. Me too." She smiled. "As for that other thing... I know you got a clean bill of health, as I did, since we both got thoroughly checked when we got back from Antarctica, and I also know you've been a lonely man longer than you've known me." In reply, Mulder rolled over so that Scully was directly under him and leaned in for another kiss. This time, however, it was not timid and shy, and it was certainly not near-desparate as their interruputed one had been. This kiss was so intense, it went beyond even the one they had just shared. The waterbed was just firm enough so that Scully was not uncomfortable pinned beneath Mulder. She felt the straining hardness of his erection pressing against her and she gasped, feeling the heat pooling in her body, concentrating between her legs. In response to his touch, she arched, pressing herself firmly against him. The warmth of the waterbed was comfortable and comforting, almost like a womb. The thought crossed Mulder's mind and he so much wanted to be nearer to Scully's. He could feel her fingers in his hair, and trailing down his body. Mulder groaned. "You know, Scully, if you want me to stop, you better say something now or else I'm not going to be able to stop." Scully smiled at him. "Why do you think I haven't said anything yet?" "I don't want to take advantage of you!" "And what is wrong with taking advantage of someone? Especially if said someone WANTS you to take advantage of them?" Mulder groaned again. "Scully, I DID promise I'd be a gentleman." "Mulder..." Scully laughed. "This display of chivalry is admirable, but since I'm not objecting to what you're doing, what do you think you're waiting for?" "An invitation, maybe?" Scully's only reply was to trail a hand down and cup her hand around his erection. Mulder hissed and then nudged Scully's knees apart, kneeling low between them, and positioning himself near where he most wanted to be. Scully shuddered and arched into him. "Last chance to say no, Scully... We don't have to go any farther than this." Dana leaned up and nibbled lightly on his ear. Mulder groaned and shuddered at her actions. He shivered even more as she licked at his ear and whispered, "Mulder, you're being dense. If I hadn't wanted to make love with you, I wouldn't have let it get even nearly this far. Besides, you said you wanted an invitation, and I'm giving you one." "Scully, are you sure? It's only going to get complicated from here." There was a spark of fear in his eyes, almost as though he were afraid she would string him along and then tell him to stop right after they started. She decided to do something about those doubts and fears. "Mulder... shut up and make love to me... because if you don't, I am going to shoot you again." "Ooooh, promise?" "Mulder, if I do, you will not enjoy it." "Promises, promises..." With a mischevious grin, Mulder leaned in and kissed her, tracing his tongue wetly along her lips. As he felt her lips open and her tongue start to caress his, he moaned softly and moved in such a way that he slipped into her, and groaned, feeling her warm, wet heat surrounding him. Though he couldn't quite remember a time when he did not love her, now that the moment arrived of his finally being inside of the woman he loved more than life, he could hardly believe it. It was a moment he had thought would never happen. There was also the feeling of the connection between them strengthening and clarifying into a beam of light, washing over them both. At the same time Mulder had his vision, Dana Scully was feeling nearly the same thing. When Mulder was finally inside her and with her, she realised she had finally found what she hadn't even realised was missing. Making love with Fox William Mulder, work partner or not, felt like the most right thing she had ever done in her life. True, she had been with other men before, Jack Willis for one, but not one of them had ever made her feel loved, respected, cherished, protected, comforted, and free to be her own person. At least, not the way Mulder had. "Oh, God, Mulder..." she gasped, as he began to move inside her, slowly enough so that she could feel almost every inch of him within her. She could feel his tongue darting out and leaving a hot trail along her ear and neck, even as he continued to move almost cautiously within her, groaning and panting softly. Instantly, she knew exactly what he was trying to do, and smiled. "Mulder, I'm not as fragile as I may look." "Just what are you implying, Scully?" "Hard and fast, Mulder... don't worry about control." "Scully, are you taking mind-reading lessons?" She smiled. "Maybe." "They doing any good??" "Just do me, Agent Mulder." "If you say so." Mulder grinned. "I say so." As those words left her lips, she felt him groan and shudder as he began gyrating his hips ever faster, even as he continued to move within her, increasing the speed of his movements incrementally, and then he was touching her... touching in places which she had only imagined before. The fire and the sensation of a tingling pleasure spread throughout her body in waves. They overwhelmed her and pulled her under, and though control would usually be an issue with her, this time she relinquished it gladly. The sensation of light spread and there was a presense in the light. Mulder. Mulder knew of his own capacity for control and pleasure, but Scully was causing him surpass even that. He was skating on the skinny edge of the emotions he was holding back, desparately wanting to jump off the edge, give in and let go. With every soft whimper she was giving off, he felt as though his sanity and consciousness was slipping through his fingers. He closed his eyes and tried to grasp the threads of willpower which he was losing at a rapidly increasing rate. "Mulder... oh god... oh my god..." She began to arch into him, pressing herself as close to him as she could get. "Scully... oh, Scully... you keep doing that.... I won't be able control myself." "So don't! Let go..." Scully murmured even as he increased movement and speed. "Oh my god... oh my god... Oh. My. God..." Her words were familiar and his body remembered the last time she'd spoken them and the effect they'd had on him then. Since he was now already hard and aroused, and making love to his partner instead of running away from her, the effect intensified and was the push needed to drive him over the edge. He began to burst within her even as he felt her start to contract around him and they groaned in unison. The light which Scully had seen was now shared by both, and both of them felt the love the light carried.... which also carried each other into their souls... imprinted. Dana lay atop Mulder when it was all done, her fingers absently tracing the scar on his shoulder, the one she had given him by way of saving his life. She laughed softly. Other than that, for a time, neither of them spoke, merely luxuriating in each other. "So, Scully, where do we go from here?" Mulder spoke finally, almost breathlessly. Even after almost an hour of merely holding one another, not saying a word, she still took his breath away. "Onward... and downward." Scully smiled. "You and me against the world?" "I wouldn't have it any other way." "And what about the Bureau?" "You want to do what we've just done with the rest of the Bureau?" She looked at him and favoured him with a raised eyebrow. "Not at all." "Good, because I can be a very jealous woman when I allow myself." Mulder smiled, and then suddenly sighed, his happiness deflated. "You know, Scully, I'm really sorry about how I treated you during the whole Diana Fowley thing..." "Mulder, I won't pretend what happened when Diana Fowley was around didn't hurt. It did. It still does. What we did here tonight, or, rather, this morning, won't change things." "I know. And I'm not sure why I seem to trust her without reason. I trusted her before... I loved her before, you know... And... I guess part of me refuses to let go of something like that. It's hard to accept that someone you once loved and trusted has changed into someone unworthy of either the love or the trust you used to give them." "I think I can understand that." "Oh, good... can we talk more about this later? I just want to sleep with your arms around me and mine around you..." "Sounds good to me..." Scully smiled. They drifted off togehter into a blissful sleep. The sound of a telephone ringing woke Mulder. He reached over to answer it, trying not to wake the woman in his arms, who twisted herself more tightly around him. "Mulder..." He picked up the phone, attempting not to yawn. Almost immediately, he seemed to snap to attention. "Yes, sir... understood, sir." As the caller gave him additional information, his eyebrows rose into his hair. "What?!" The person at the end of the phone said something and Mulder nodded. "Thank you, sir. I'll make sure Agent Scully knows," Mulder said, before hanging up the phone. "Who was that?" Scully yawned, even as she ran her hands along the bare skin of his chest. "Skinner. He has a new case for us. You're going love this one, Scully." "Oh?" "Yeah.. we have to go undercover as a married couple. Name of Rob and Laura Petrie." He pronounced the last name to sound like petri dish. "You're kidding." "Wish I were, Scully." "I wonder who picked the names?" They looked at each other for a beat. "Skinner." Their voices were in unison, even as they laughed. "You know, we should probably get up. Skinner mentioned that he wanted to see us in about an hour," Mulder said, finally. "If we must, we must," Scully sighed. "Though I'm loathe to leave your arms." "Likewise. But, we could probably get to this undercover assignment thing and spend time together that way," Mulder said, kissing her softly. They got out of bed and began to dress. -End- Feedback anyone? =) You know what to do. "The Truth is Out There.
