to move on with his life. But he wants someone to come with him.

Moving On

He never thought that this day would come. He always thought that she would 
be too far away from him. Right there in plain sight, but too far from his 
reach. <<Well, if I am brave enough and if things are right, she may be mine 
at the end of the day.>>

Ever since he found out that Samantha was taken by Walk-Ins...things have been 
different around the office. The X Files don't really seem that important. 
<<Sure, Scully and I still go out on various unexplained cases, but I 
already have the answer to the question I have always asked. The questions 
of Scully's abduction, I fear, may
never be answered. So there is one question left to ask. I'm just not sure 
if I want to know the answer.>>

<<Here she is. She is so beautiful. I have been so lucky to have her by my 
side for seven years. I don't know what my life would be without her. I 
actually forget what life was like. She has made it bearable to come to 
work. Sure, we've had plenty of fights, and
she never agrees with me, but I love her. I really love her. I just hope she 
feels the same way.>>

"Good Morning Mulder." Dana Scully had coffee and donuts for their 
extra-long morning. She had on a tight white shirt with a black jacket over 
it with her black pants. She looked beautiful as she always did.

"Ooh donuts. How did you know I didn't eat breakfast this morning.?"

"Mulder, you never eat breakfast." She took out her laptop and started 
typing and took a sip of her coffee. Mulder just went back to his desk and 
pulled out some files. He couldn't concentrate on what he was reading. In 
that back of his mind he knew what he had to do today. He had it all planned 
out.

<<Scully and I have never dated. We had one innocent kiss, and an almost 
kiss. But she feels like my girlfriend. A steady girlfriend for about 6 
years. She has to feel the same way. God she is breathtaking. She has to...she 
just has to.>>

Mulder was staring at Scully as she typed. She could feel his stare on her. 
She didn't mind. She liked when Mulder stole glances. She on occasion took 
the time to look him over as well. <<He is such a gorgeous man. I wonder 
what he's like in bed.>>
Scully laughed at the thought.

"Something funny Scully? Mind filling me in?" Mulder had seen her laugh and 
wondered if she had known he was looking at her.

"Just thinking about something I heard on the radio this morning. Anyway, 
what are you working on?"

"Nothing special. Hey Scully, you wanna go out some place nice today for 
lunch? My treat."

Scully shut her laptop and turned around to face Mulder. He looked like he 
was up to something. <Hmmm....what does Mulder have up his sleeve. I hope it's 
not another werewolf sighting. I've had it with that shit.>

"Sure Mulder. I have to go run these up to Skinner's office. I'll be back 
around 12. We'll go then. Is that okay?"

"Sure Scully. There's a nice Italian place I know by my place. We can go 
there."

"Sounds good to me. I'll be back at 12." Scully left and Mulder just sat 
there smiling. He couldn't believe this time was coming. He had been waiting 
for this time for 3 months. That's when he had bought it. <I can't believe 
this is going to happen. I better not fuck this up. It's gotta be good.>


Mulder was pacing around the basement office. It was 12:30 and Scully wasn't 
back. <Shit! I can't take this! Where the hell is she!> The phone rang and 
Mulder tripped over the rolling chair to answer it.

"Damnit! Hello?"

"Uh Mulder? You okay?"

"Yeah, I just stubbed my toe. Where are you Scully? We had a date!"

<A date? Really? Is that what it was.> She got a warm feeling in the pit of 
her stomach. She smiled and sighed into the phone. "Things ran late up here. 
You want to meet now??

"Sure Scully I'll meet you in the lobby."

"See you there."

"See you there!!" He hung up and jumped up and down. He felt like a little 
kid again. He grabbed his coat and almost skipped out of the room. He made 
it halfway down the hall and realized he forgot it! <Great way to fuck it up 
you ass!> He ran back in and opened his top drawer and tucked the box into 
his jacket pocket.


Michalangelo's Italian Bar and Grille

Things were going great. They just talked and laughed all lunch break. They 
never mentioned work or Aliens or anything. It was just two people talking. 
Mulder was a bit fidgety though. He seemed nervous and giddy. Scully 
wondered what was up.

"Hey Mulder, what's with you? You haven't been able to sit still all lunch."

Mulder blushed. He didn't want to blow it yet. "Hemorrhoids." He realized 
what he said and started laughing. Scully just shook her head. A waiter came 
by with a bottle of champagne and set a glass in front of Mulder and one in 
front of Scully. Scully raised her eyebrows at Mulder and he just smiled.

"I though champagne would be a nice change of pace. This is one of the 
best."

"Mulder, we have to go back to work. If Skinner knew we were drinking..." 
Mulder interrupted her.

"Well, Scully, that's the thing. We're not exactly going back to work today. 
I called us out for the rest of the day."

"Mulder..." She didn't get it. <What is going on here! This is weird even for 
Mulder.> "Mulder, what is going..."

<Well, I guess this is it. I better do it now before she gets up and goes 
back to work.>

"Hold on Scully. I have to tell you something." He took a deep breath and 
continued. "Ever since we found out what happened to Sam, things have been 
different for me. I don't have an insane quest for the truth anymore. The X 
Files don't really matter that ,much. I have the two things I ever wanted. 
Proof of where Sam is, and you. You
re all I want now. You are my best friend and have been for 7 years. You 
feel like a part of me. I know that I can't function without you. I need you 
and I love you." He paused for Scully's reaction. Her mouth popped open and 
she couldn't speak. <Uh oh...is this a bad sign?>

<He loves me? Did he just say he loved me? My God Mulder!> Scully had been 
waiting to hear those words for years. She couldn't even breath. She wanted 
to tell him that she loved him. That he was her best friend. That she 
couldn't be without him. But all that came out was his name.

"Mulder...I.."

"Let me finish Scully." He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small 
box. He got up out of his seat and walked to Scully. He took a breath and 
got down on one knee. <This is it Mulder. This could be the beginning or the 
end. Just do it and deal with the consequences later.>

<What is he doing! Oh God! Mulder!> She was shocked. She closed her eyes and 
waited for the question.

"My dearest Dana Catherine Scully, will you marry me?" He opened the box and 
exposed her to the most beautiful diamond ring she had ever seen! He looked 
deep into her eyes and waited for the answer...whatever it may be.

"Mulder.." She took a breath and decided to tell him. "Mulder I love you so 
much. I have been waiting for this for my whole life. I can't believe it's 
you that is asking me. I can't say anything else but...YES yes I will marry 
you Fox William Mulder!!"

She started crying as he slipped the ring on her finger. He stood up and 
lifted her into his arms. Here is came...the most wonderful kiss they had ever 
experienced. They kissed for a while, then drank their champagne and went to 
Mulder's apartment to call Scully's mom. She was excited and couldn't wait 
to help plan the wedding!

This was it. There were finally going to be together. Forever...
