Disclaimer: Not mine, belong to FOX, Chris
Carter etc. blah blah blah.
Author's notes: It must have been about one
in the morning when I came up with this so bear
with me. I thought as someone who didn't want
Scully to have a baby that I should finally
accept the situation and this fic has helped.
If you are in the mood for writing some feedback
you know where I am.

The nurse looked down at the little blue-eyed
baby in the plastic cot and smiled. Reaching
down, she picked him up and walked over to
the bed where her mother lay just waking up
from a well-deserved sleep.
"There you go baby." She said placing him on
her stomach. "Have you decided on a name?" she asked.
Scully turned her head to the door as Mulder
pushed it open. His unshaven but smiling face
nearly obscured by the bunch of flowers and
balloons in his hands.
Scully stifled a laugh and held her hand out to him.
"Here's someone who can help me decide."
The nurse fetched Mulder a chair and excused
herself, leaving the three alone.
Mulder placed the flowers on the table beside
the bed and tied the balloons to the iron railing.
Scully raised an eyebrow. "What's all this?"
"They were selling them at the hospital shop.
I went for some coffee and figured they'd brighten
the room up."
She smiled gratefully and looked down at the
baby in her arms. "Thanks."
Mulder looked at the baby as he frowned
and opened his eyes. "Hey little guy."
He half whispered and dug
into his pockets. "You didn't think I'd
forgotten you did you?" He pulled out a
little blue bear and rested it on Scully's arm.
"Do you want to hold him?" asked Scully.
"Are you sure?" Mulder's brow creased with worry.
"You're not going to break him Mulder. He's tough."
"Like his Mom." Added Mulder. He thought for a
minute before gently picking the baby up and cradling
him in his arms. He picked up his little hand and
counted the fingers, watching in amazement as the baby
gripped his finger.
"Eight little fingers, two thumbs and ten little toes."
Scully said fighting a tear. "he's perfect isn't he?"
"Yeah he is." said Mulder. "Have you named him yet?"
"Well, I was thinking William, since you don't like
your first name." Scully admitted. "And after my
father."
"William." Mulder echoed. The baby made a gurgling
noise and Mulder chucked. "I think he likes it."
"Skinner and Doggett came by while you were gone.
Skinner was not so subtly hinting at Walter for his
middle name."
Mulder made a face.
"Exactly." She said. Scully leaned forward.
"You know someone is going to have to teach William
about baseball and basketball and other things.
And I don't think I can do that. Are you up to the job?"
"I'd love to Scully." Mulder replied.
"Good."
The three sat in silence for the next few minutes
until the nurse walked back in with a vase for the
flowers and then walked back out.
Scully stroked the baby's forehead.
"Mulder?"
"Yeah."
"Thanks for being there to hold my hand."
He handed the baby back to her and kissed
her forehead. "You're welcome Scully."

END (only a short one this time folks)
